whenever i see someone say gansey should've died at the end or how that should've been the purpose of his character i just immediately know you guys haven't thought about his arc for like more than five seconds

the thing is, as someone who considers gansey one of my favorite characters of all time and who can be very biased about him, i have read many adansey scenes feeling frustrated at adam, but i never once actually held anything against him and i have always understood him. like yes, this kid is not being reasonable right now but all of his irritating (to me at least) behavior makes sense and i appreciate the writing for allowing these characters to be messy and real and wrong.

so i understand feeling very strongly about a character and protective and whatnot, but i don't understand why a lot of adam stans are so willing to paint gansey as a villain in their relationship, without even trying to understand his side when he makes mistakes? none of the things gansey did or said are without foundation, just like it's the case with adam. i'm not saying people are not allowed to feel frustrated about characters or be mad at them, but i am annoyed at the fact that many of you only care about nuances and complexity when it's concerning your favorite character and everything else in the narrative is just not given the same treatment.

trc fandom and their tendency to only understand and care about a POV of a character they relate to, also when their fave makes mistakes it's because they're oh so complex and nuanced, but any other character making them is just one dimensional evil obviously

I don't get why most fics portray Gansey as sub when his words, his commands, are literally/canonically magic ugh
