TW DEATH, MISCARRIAGE, CAR ACCIDENTS
lina comes from a wealthy family, her father is a prominent businessman who branched out his family business based in hong kong and created a london office where he met her mother, who was there going to school. her motherâs family is also from hong kong, but moved to paris when she was young. growing up, linaâs family had homes in both london and paris and they would frequently travel between both.
lina was always interested in fashion growing up, customizing her own clothes and setting up little fashion shows for her dolls, which eventually turned into fashion shows for her friends, which in turn became actual fashion shows. she was driven, determined, using her familyâs wealth and influence to her advantage to do anything she could to get a leg up in the fashion industry. she studied fashion in paris, and it wasnât long after she graduated that she got an internship with a prolific designer and began making a name for herself.
it wasnât long before her career really took off, and before she knew it, she had made a name for herself. it was at a charity event that she met the man who was soon to be her husband â a parisian real estate tycoon named gabriel lenoir. she was reluctant to date him at first, not wanting to distract herself from her career, but he was persistent, and soon enough she gave in, and it wasnât long before they were head over heels. things werenât perfect and they certainly had their ups and downs, but within 2 years, they were married.
things were good, for a while. things werenât perfect, but they had each other, and that was enough. they were reluctant to have children in the beginning years of their relationship, too focused on their own careers and their relationship to try. but eventually, they decided it was time, but for some reason, it just never happened. finally, after a few years of trying and many fertility treatments, it happened. lina was pregnant, and they were finally going to start a family. and lina couldnât have been happier.
everything took a turn for the worst when gabriel got into a terrible accident. after multiple surgeries and attempts to save him, he ended up passing. lina was absolutely devastated, the months after his death absolutely excruciating. the only thing keeping her going was knowing that she still had their baby to think about, that she still had that piece of him left with her. unfortunately, that came shattering down for her as well, when 6 months into the pregnancy, she had a miscarriage. she felt so distraught and lost, she didnât know what to do after that.
she took some time away from the fashion scene, appointing her apprentice as acting head of her fashion label, staying on the board but allowing everyone else to take the reigns for a while while she grieved. however, it was difficult, and she found it nearly impossible to pick herself up. usually so determined and cunning, not ever taking no for an answer, it was jarring to see the darkness and hopelessness taking over her, something she had never felt to this degree before.
it was then that she realized that she needed a change, something drastic. her best friend was basically like her sister, her best friendâs niece basically like her own, and she decided that she was going to follow her pseudo-niece to ithaca, where she was attending school. it was fate that there happened to be an opening in ithacaâs fashion design department, and they were all too happy to welcome such a prolific designer into their ranks.
