you can never return to this place

when most people heard that the premise of the final season of Riverdale was that everybody gets teleported to 1955 with no recollection of their previous lives the assumption was that this happened because Riverdale is a crazy show written by crazy people (totally fair). but that is entirely bc they heard this premise outside of the context of the actual show; the point of Riverdale up until season 6 is that it does not matter how you remember a place when you were a kid, it is rife with corruption and injustice and sometimes the literal devil and all you can do is try to fight against it and accept that it never stops because there were always be somebody cruel or corrupt enough to take away what little innocence is left in the place you love.
