I was reading this blog post. It was a great read, but most importantly it had many links to interesting websites. One of them was this one, so let me welcome you to Alive Internet Theory.

This website presents you with various old records from the Internet Archive, as a testament to the amounts of human creation on the web from over the years. It will pick a date and give you a bunch of free-floating images, videos and even recordings to click on:

I clicked on a recording and was lead to The Refined live at Zeke's Gallery - Aug 11, 2005 Set One. This is an audio recording of a whole live performance of this band called The Refined! I'm listening to it now as I write this.

Zeke's Gallery is a venue that closed after a last performance on August 17, 2007, according to an old Facebook group that was run by the owner. Many of the performances got archived by the owner themself near two decades ago, so although the place has long been gone, we can still get glimpses of it through these recordings.

This set by The Refined was performed only two days before I was born. It feels strange listening to this. Like I shouldn't have access to this, let alone have stumbled across it. But here it is, saved on the Internet Archive by Zeke's Gallery 20 years ago and presented to me as one of many links by alivetheory.net.

I found that website by chance, and clicked on this link by chance. The only trace of Zeke's Gallery I could find outside of the Internet Archive was that old Facebook group. I don't even know where the venue used to be, not even what country it was in.

I don't even want to explore further on Alive Internet Theory. I just want to finish listening to this recording.
