Aspects
My views on Sburb's Aspects. I tend to analyze them more as metaphysical forces than in terms of "who gets this Aspect", as most of the fandom is wont to do. I will use my own custom symbols throughout, with notes on their designs.
Space
Space is the Aspect of creation, mutation, alteration, possibility, new beginnings. Space experiments and improvises. Space cares about what is possible now, and cares more about the discoveries made along a journey than where it'll end up. Space is infinite discovery and potential.
Space is associated with any form of creation, whether that's making scientific inventions or paintings or dresses. Space is associated with frogs because of how they transform themselves, even changing the environment they live in, and how diverse they are.
I use a similar design but slanted a bit, to make it evoke a galaxy even more. I also think it just Looks Nice like that.
Void
Void is the Aspect of the unknown, the unknowable, the undefined, the uncreated. Of those hidden things impossible for us to know to give names to. Of ignored and irrelevant things, of the forgotten and impotent. Void is the Aspect of true reality, of things in a spectrum, of quantum and biology, of the things that slip through the cracks of our definitions, of the shifting hues of the sky.
Void is associated with darkness, which even without existing hides things from us, and with water, which flows freely and unbou d and hides thi gs in its dept s, and w th p mpki s, bec
My symbol for Void is a bit more curvy and contorted, befitting its nature, and hopefully brings to mind fish swimming deep in its waters.
Life
Life is the Aspect of agency, self-direction, and power. Life is self-directed and idealistic; Life concerns itself primarily with what Life wants to do, not caring for obstacles or drawbacks. Life sees an infinitude of options, and picks the one it desires. Not just biological living, but vital force.
Life is represented by things that replenish strength, such as food; things that represent the power to do things, such as money; and things which depend on their inner energy, like plants.
I changed Life's symbol to be more distinct from Breath's design and be a bit more obviously plant-based (while also somewhat looking like some kind of tentacled creature). Its color scheme also got a bit change, to be more in-line with other Aspects and get more green rep.
Breath
Breath is the Aspect of detachment, of just going with the flow, floating along in life without caring too much about any one thing. Breath does whatever feels right in the moment, never too attached.
Breath is represented by anything that flows, like wind or rivers, things that sway in the wind, like leaves, and things that allow rapid locomotion, such as jetpacks.
Breath's symbol is mostly unchanged, just losing some of the right angles in favor of a bit more flow.
Heart
Heart is the Aspect of the self, of individuality, of feelings. A person's identity, self-definition, and self-expression. The way they think about themselves and how they show that to the world. Their emotions, their friendships, their biases, their crushes. Heart goes with its gut, always doing what its heart tells it to do.
Heart is associated with hats and other accoutrements, for their aid in self-expression; with music, as a way to convey feelings; and with willful animals like horses.
My design for Heart is more distinctly pink to differentiate it better from other Aspects, plus I changed the shapes a bit to look nicer.
Rage
Rage is the Aspect of rebellion, of anger, of wanting quick change. Rage rebels against the state of the world, and fights tooth and nail for what it stands for. Rage will first set fire to the world it hates, and then worry about what to build after. Rage riots and fights back, and would sooner bring revenge than healing.
Rage is associated with the sea of waves, many drops of water coming together into an inescapable tide; with howls and screams. Rage is above all rooted in action.
Rage got the biggest redesign of all, because in my opinion the canon design for Rage is a bit too Clown-y. It's Gamzee's Aspect first and foremost. My new design is meant to evoke waves, and a howling beast, but also that of something toppling a crown.
Hope
Hope is the Aspect of diplomacy, of compromise, of gradual change. Hope believes everyone is good at heart, and that everything can work and everyone can be happy if only everyone talked things out. Hope has blind faith and will sooner comfort a friend than hurt an enemy. Hope solves things slowly and steadily, without causing too many waves, sometimes having to accept compromises.
Hope is associated with religion and democracy, with the belief that things can work out after negotiation, without always considering the practical side of things.
Hope got a decently big redesign. It still evokes wings, as per canon, but now it also mimics a handshake, and to me the whole thing brings to mind a non-standard angel. It was also recolored from white-and-yellow to white-and-gray, to better distinguish it from Light.
Mind
Mind is the Aspect of thoughts, options, impartiality, and masking. Mind coldly adapts itself to circumstance, and hides its true self in order to do what's optimal or socially acceptable. Mind tries to be impartial; it weights all the options, and picks the one most suited to the situation, without any personal bias.
Mind is associated with masks, blindfolds, and other face-concealing wear, hiding its true self in favor of an outward agent. It is also associated with scales, representing the weighting of options.
I see the original symbol for Mind as meant to evoke a neuron, connecting things together into ideas. My symbol keeps the outward symbols but adds a half-mask design, to represent its fading of the self behind a mask.
Blood
Blood is the Aspect of effort, connection, and sacrifice. Blood has lofty expectations, from both itself and others, and runs itself ragged to accomplish all of them. Blood cares intensely about what it does, without rest or thought. Blood connects to others, joining people into a greater effort, binding them into new responsibilities and expectations.
Blood is associated with literal blood, representing the effort it puts in and the familial connections associated with it; with iron, present in blood and used both for tools and for chains.
Blood got a new color scheme, and was slightly redrawn; the rivulets of blood were changed, trying to evoke something like a bridge or aqueduct, representing the effort Blood puts into building and connecting things.
Doom
Doom is the Aspect of constraint, rules, and endurance. Doom has burdens and limitations, and concerns itself with practical issues instead of lofty ideals. Doom does not look for escape or negotiation, instead focusing on enduring things, going along with what is demanded of it, no matter how harsh the situation.
Doom is represented by death and skulls, representing the ultimate constraint on living beings, and by fire, representing the dangers of fighting against your bounds.
My symbol for doom changed it to an entirely green palette, and kept the symbol to a similar style but a different construction. Rather than evoking a skull, I tried to make it resemble both a hazard symbol and a gas mask.
Light
Light is the Aspect of definitions and frameworks. Light has clear rules, clear definitions, clear boundaries, clear answers. It creates frameworks to understand the world and neatly puts everything in black and white, right and wrong, relevant and irrelevant; which can sometimes lead to it ignoring the gray areas between. Light is the Aspect of human knowledge, our ideas, our stories, our sciences.
Light is represented by the Sun, shining light in the world, making things clearer; by writing, penning down a specific view of the world; and by any clear system of rules, be they scientific, psychological, or of a game.
My symbol for Light keeps the image of a sun, but now differentiated by the usual Homestuck sun. The inner circle evokes an eye, associating it to vision and knowledge, while its rays are meant to resemble a compass, particularly with the uppermost one being bigger. It is also skewed, to note how Light points you clearly but not always in the right direction.
Time
Time is the Aspect of the past, of the future, and of repeating patterns. It deals in tradition, repetition, the inevitability of what came before. Time brings the authority of established rules and governance, the fine precision of clockwork. Time looks into what was to decide what will come about, with no room for variance.
Time is associated with all timekeeping devices, with the sand of a hourglass, with the gears of a clock, and with symbols of rulership, like gold and crowns.
My symbol for Time is very similar to canon, but the gear got upgraded from ten to twelve teeth, with four being disproportionately larger, made in the image of a clock.
