Found 5 partially used balls of what I'm pretty sure is Alafoss Lopi at the Cobargo opshop last Thursday - 50c a ball :-) I've knitted it up into a deliciously thick and warm shawl. Onto the last colour/ball/band!

I painted the kitchen red last week - while Julian and Noah were away ;-) - it's so pretty and cosy now. One day (sooner rather than later?) I hope to have nice wooden bench tops and creamy white tiled splash backs. Then it will be really lovely!

"Pay what you think is fair"

We used to put on puppet shows at Noah's birthday parties when he was little - he would choose his favourite picture book at the time and he and I would spend days drawing and colouring the backdrops and puppets. Julian even built us a big wooden puppet theatre that we could stand behind - like in Sound of Music - which we set up on a table draped in sparkly purple fabric and fairy lights. Then the three us would put on the show towards the end of the party. These are from the "who's afraid of the storybook wolf" (by Lauren Child) show when Noah turned 6. They were behind the crystal - go figure?! Such fun! I think we should do a Christmas one this year for Mum's little neighbours.

The next "What's in the Box" gem. A little white Swiss Dot lawn blouse that was left pinned to its pattern so long there are little rust marks from the some of the pins.

Today's work - the rescuing of this beautiful old oak armchair from the dump pile behind the shed. It needed hours and hours of sanding (that's what you get for leaving it out in the weather) but now it's silky smooth, cleaned up with methylated spirits and given a good polish with Danish oil. I e ordered the replacement wicker for the back and tomorrow I shall build a seat! Hopefully, before the week is out I shall be sitting in it to have my morning tea and knit :-)

Polishing up my collection of old wooden frames and prints before I hang them. This one is my favourite ... the timid new mama with her glowing swaddled baby ... holding him ever so tentatively whilst the older woman at her side says "that's right - you're doing do well - he's a dear little babe and you will be a lovely mama ..." Just fills me with love, this painting. #newmama
