it   takes   her   by   surprise   for   a   moment   ;   she’s   sure   it’s   clear   in   her   eyes   .   glassy   ,   but   skeptical   nonetheless   .   the   other   girl’s   brashness   was   not   something   she   was   unfamiliar   with   ,   but   having   it   laid   before   her   as   a   guard                well   ,   it   was   nice   .   it   was   nice   to   know   that   someone   had   her   back   .   ❛   you   don’t   have   to   fight   my   battles   for   me   .   ❜    her   solution   to   most   conflict   was   to   bail   .   maybe   that   wasn’t   always   the   right   answer   .   ❛   but   it   means   a   lot   to   me   that   you’re   willing  .  ❜

              IT   HAD   BEEN   YEARS   .   as   cliche   as   it   may  have   sounded   ,   time   really   didn’t   seem   to   pass   when   they   were   together   again   .   it   was   harder   to   make   time   the   older   they   got   ,   but    time   was   always   made   .   she’s   quick   to   wrap   her   friend   in   a   hug   without   so   much   as   a   second’s   notice   ,   a   contented   sigh   escaping   her   in   response   to   the   other’s   words   .   ❛  we’re   sisters   ,   remember   ?   family   always   feels   like   home   .  ❜

                  ❛   i   know   you   will   .   you   always   do   .   ❜   it’s   said   with   a   shrug   ,   as   if   it   was   obvious   .   she   was   as   independent   as   gabriella   was   stubborn           she   understood   .   the   corner   of   the   girl’s   lips   were   upturned   in   the   slightest   .   ❛   that   doesn’t   mean   you   have   to   do   it   alone   .  ❜

                         it   makes   her   feel   warm   .   she   wasn’t   one   that   needed   protecting   ,   but   it   felt   nice   to   bask   in   it   ,   if   only   for   a   moment   .    ❛   you   can’t   protect   me   from   everything   ,   you   know   .   ❜    the   logical   ,   always   working   side   of   her   brain   responds   first   .   but   she   can’t   deny   how   safe   it   makes   her   feel   .   ❛                  but   i   trust   you  .  ❜   it’s   said   with   an   honest    smile   .   ❛   thank   you   .   ❜
