Describe your happiest memory. 

“What a lovely question! I think my happiest memory was the first triathlon I ever finished. I’d run and biked races before then, and of course I had been training for months before the actual day. There’s something magical about crossing that finish line, though. The endorphins probably help, but that first race is one I’ll never forget. I went by myself, so I didn’t have anyone cheering for me at the end. I came in around the middle of the pack, not a particularly great time compared to now. But there was this unshakable sense of achievement. To be honest, it hasn’t really gone away.”

Is there anyone you’ve started to get close to which you weren’t before?

“You mean since this all started right? I uh, I’m not sure that we’re close per se, but there is one person I’ve met and gotten to know better because of all this craziness! I’m glad I’ve been able to help him with his own changes.”

What do you find most attractive physically and mentally in a potential partner?  

“This is probably going to sound super cheesy, but strength. In both areas, of course! I’m not well equipped to partner myself with someone who doesn’t have the ability to be independent, particularly in an emotional sense. Endurance of both mind and body is something that any partner I might have would need to fit with my lifestyle. And well, I uh, I guess it’s attractive to me when someone is physically strong as well?”

If there was one event you could erase from your past, what would it be and why? 

“Assuming that changing this one event would alter the rest of my life accordingly, I think I’d have to go big or go home? So I think I would prevent my mother’s death. It’s the most obvious thing to alter the course of my reality, and if we’re going to those sorts of lengths, I’d like to think it would be worth losing the self that I am currently.”

Do you have any irrational fears? 

“Well first off, I don’t think any fear is particularly irrational, your brain makes those signals for a reason right? I suppose if I had to pick one, it’d be the deep ocean. We don’t know what’s down there, and it’s a whole lot closer than anything malicious in space might be. We all saw how Pacific Rim turned out, right?”

Are you a good cook? Whether you are or not, what’s your favourite thing to make?

“I am, actually! I don’t cook as much as I’d like, since our house runs on takeout. There are days when I’ll pull out some old family recipes and blow Sasha and Em’s minds, but it wouldn’t work as well if I did it too frequently! I love making breakfast, though. The majority of the foods I make fall in the “breakfast” category, even if we don’t restrict ourselves to eating it in the morning. I do wish I could bake better. I’ve had my ups and downs trying things out, since it’s a bit more structured and finicky than regular cooking, but I’m not the worst at it.”

What are you goals or ambitions in life? Are you on track to achieving them?

“I think my normal routine was as close to the goal as it could be without a major pay raise. I’m pretty close to my idea of successful as it is, and my prospects were only positive! Outside of minor things like improving my position at the bank and perfecting my biking technique, there wasn’t much else I felt particularly driven to do. To be honest with you though, it’s changed a bit with all the new things going on. I think for now, maintaining the safety of myself and those I care about is my major life goal.”

Do you consider yourself to be a good friend?

“Absolutely. I believe I’m a very loyal person, and that lends itself well to excelling in other areas of friendship! Of course the more pressing question would be if my friends think the same.”

Which animal do you think best represents you?

“Like a daemon or a patronus? Hmm, I could say a lightning bug for obvious reasons. Maybe an amphibian because of my triathlons? I think I’d love to be compared to a bird of some sort... But you know what sounds the most accurate in my head? An octopus. They’re intelligent, flexible, master problem solvers, most of them can change to fit in with their surroundings! Plus we still aren’t sure entirely how their minds work, and I like to think I’ve got a bit of that mystery around me.”
