“i can fix anything.” arrogance laces their tone, and it certainly fits with the way in which their chin juts out and their shoulders tip back. it’s not har to be confident in your ability when you’re one of the youngest present in a trade made for old souls, though even at twenty two, they didn’t feel MUCH like the ‘spring chicken’ they liked to call them. they take another look, a crease appearing between their brows. “but i don’t think even i can fix that.”
“Great.” Sidney said. She held up her phone, slightly charred and very much broken. The screen was black, the dreaded black screen of death. “So I tried to charge it. With lightning.” With a shrug of her shoulders, she continued, “I thought it was a good idea at the time. But now my phone is... pretty fucked up. You know what they say about hindsight.”

“On a scale from 1 to 10, how much of a bad idea is it to try and use lightning to charge my phone?” Sidney asked. “My phone is so dead and I swear literally every outlet I find is taken. Desperate times mean desperate measures.”
“ the mortals at this school are always rejecting all my good ideas. ‘ THAT’S ILLEGAL, loki ‘ and ‘ don’t repeat that ever again, loki ‘ and ‘ how did you survive to adulthood, loki. ‘ “ she rolled her eyes languidly, crossing her arms over her chest with a long, tired exhale. “ they’re just scared of my power. “
“I think as a law student, I’m required to tell you when something’s illegal or they won’t give me my degree at the end of all the bullshit.” Sidney said. She laughed. “I mean, who wouldn’t be afraid of your power? It’s honestly an honor.”
“ not to, like, flex on you or anything, “ roman said with a smirk on his face, mouth pausing from chewing on the straw of his iced coffee, “ but today my psych teacher did refer me to four of her colleagues after reading my essay on PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT DURING ADOLESCENCE. “
Sidney raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure that’s a good thing?” It certainly didn’t sound like one. “I’m not one to judge but it seems like your psych prof is trying to tell you to go see one of those colleagues.”
“ nothing says badass quite like a nice floral print… “ and there they were ; black jeans, combat boots and a floral printed shirt that jim hopper would be proud of. they got their fashion sense from their dads, clearly. grunge from jason and the everything else from roy. “ no, i’m not taking criticism at this time. “
“Trust me, the only people who would say that that outfit is not badass is straight men and we all know that they do not have any taste whatsoever.” Sidney said. “Not a fan of clashing aesthetics for myself but you really make it work. It’s awe-inspiring.”

“i…- why are you looking at me like that?” jean grey in the computer lab was not as unusual a sight, these days, as it had been at the beginning of the year. once she had gotten the hang of google, nothing could stop her - trawling through the library and relying on other people had both sort of fallen to the wayside as she had realized that she could find what she was looking for in seconds, and sort of… fast forward through her catching up on the previous decade. her being there wasn’t unusual. her HOLDING her phone up and trying to get her camera to focus on the screen, all so she could take a picture of the yahoo answers article she had been reading before she left… that was unusual. “i’m- i’m taking a screenshot.”
“I mean that is one way to take a screenshot.” Sidney had been stifling a laugh as she watched Jean. “You’re doing great. Creative problem solving is a skill everyone should have.” She didn’t try to hide the amusement from her tone. It wasn’t as if Sidney was ever really surprised when people didn’t understand modern technology anymore (there was always someone time displaced or from another planet or a time traveler or..,) yet it never ceased to make her at least chuckle. “Do you want some help actually taking a screenshot or?” She asked, a kind smile on her face. “Because I would teach you how to build a computer just to get away from this case review for long enough.”
Phae was getting a little annoyed at the moment because her model was moving and was not stopping at all. It was hard enough to find someone who wasn’t too busy to hang out for an hour or so but now she couldn’t get them to stay still. “Could you stop moving?” Phae finally said exasperated and stopped sketching. “You said you’d model for me and I even let you pick how you wanted to be sketched. If you’re not happy with it whose fault is it really?” She twirled her sketching pencil around and pointed it at her model. “I’ve already done the base sketch, you can’t just change position now or I’ll have to start all over again.“
Sidney had planned to study during the modeling session. It had really sounded like the best way for her to spend her time. It was both an ego boost and time for her to actually study. Besides, there was actually a pretty girl for her to look at. In reality, it had been so much less pleasant than assumed and left her muscles aching. “I’m just stretching. Is that not okay?” She raised an eyebrow.

BIO
A girl of lightning and rain and wind and thunder people never learned to doubt you. Behind all the sweet smiles, power thrummed within you. From the time you were young, when your tears brought rain with them, greatness had claimed your destiny. You grew up knowing that, knowing the power that coursed through your veins, knowing the weight your last name carried.
Xavier's did not offer you much special treatment. Sure, a few new students gawked at you when your parentage was revealed. But, largely, you were simply another one of the many mutants who went there. You were determined to become more than simply your parents' child. Taking the time to hone your powers, you learned to wield weather, learned to be the goddess you were always meant to be. Taking the time to find your voice, you learned to control thunder in more way than one, learned to be the goddess that you were always meant to be.
Your mind shines as brightly as the beaming sun, your mother once told you when you still a small, malleable thing. Academics called to you, pushed you to devour books and art and whatever else you could. You strove for perfection, a report card with only the letter A, perfection in each academic matter you endeavored in. Rhetoric came easy to you and you learned the ways to craft an argument. Journalism class became your haven. Debate club became the thing you looked forward to the most.
Your mind shines as brightly as the beaming sun, your mother told you again when you boasted an acceptance into Harvard. It was a hard fought battle, that letter that granted you a dream that you had had for longer than you can remember. You fought still after the letter once you had begun to walk the gilded halls of your dreams. Your dream shifted. You strove then for the ability to claim the greatness that you had always been meant for, dreamed of the chance to use your gift of words, your gift of persuasion and the thunder of your tenor, to shape the world closer to the ideal you envisioned, the ideal people like Charles Xavier spoke of.
Your mind shines as brightly as the beaming sun, your mother told you for the third time as you declared your intention to study law. With degrees in political science and women's studies behind you, you turned your eyes towards law school. Of all the schools you considered, you settled on Paragon. It offered not only a chance to get the degree you wanted so desperately but to be closer to the family you loved with a ferocity stronger than the raging winds of hurricanes.
Lightning and thunder always came easy to you. Thunder echoed in your voice, lent you courage and confidence. You held you head up high, never afraid to stray from euphony to cacophony. Poised and self-assured, you learned the power of a confident woman, learned the power of thunder.
Always a being equal parts love and lightning, you never strayed away from the press of your lips against another's, the press of your body against another's. Love came easily to you, pieces of your heart always ready to be given away to whoever is willing. You heard complaints about love at first sight being false but you, a little bit in love with everywhere women you meet, never quite understood that.
Lightning and thunder always came easy to you. Lightning followed your touch. It was a hand placed on a woman's shoulder, brushing her hair back, brushing your lips against her's. It was your arms wrapped around friend's shoulders, the casual lacing of your hands, cuddling on the couch while a movie played on the TV. It was the press of your lips to a siblings forehead, shoulders bumping against each other, heads tucked against shoulders. Affectionate and loving, you learned the power of love no matter how fleeting, learned the power of lightning.
You withstood the wind. No matter the hardships that you faced, you never fell down. As learned the vitriol thrown at mutants, you withstood the wind. As you learned you craved only the softness of another woman's lips and came to turns hurled you due to that, you withstood the wind. As you pushed yourself harder and harder in the world of academics, you withstood the wind.
“I learn so much from Kat every time I read a script because honestly, she’s my hero. One piece of advice that I’ve learnt from her with regards to love is to be brave and just throw yourself out there.” - Aisha Dee for Sweet

Women are great communicators. Men are, too, but it’s more to our strength as women. I love how this show [The Bold Type] celebrates that in a way that feels realistic.
