STATUS: open to write !
the setup
my muses are like BARBIES. one second they're a space cowboy and the next they're an accountant with a penchant for embezzling funds.
so i don't have a traditional muse list with fixed histories or character details. instead, i have a roster of face claims with set names and age ranges. their personalities aren’t set in stone; it depends entirely on the plot.
the playhouse
if the situation calls for a masculine 30-something, i’m going to break out my character dante dela cruz. it doesn't matter what his personality was in the last thread; for this story, he’s the “barbie” i'm dressing up as a clumsy pickpocket.
the barbies
you can check out the current list here.
the editions
to keep some semblance of organization in the dreamhouse, my characters are always one of three archetypes:
the instigator: the fire. they are confrontational and active. they push buttons and pick fights to force the plot to move.
the liability: the anchor. they drag the situation down. whether they are a disaster, a secret saboteur, or just in over their head, they are the "problem" the other character has to deal with.
the wild card: the curveball. their intentions are built like the wind, unpredictable and unable to pin down.
the action
i'm a "yes, and" writer. we can assume whatever history we need for the scene and establish specifics as we go. i'll build on the context you bring and let the characters find their way.
the branding
i lean heavily into dark comedy and subverted tropes. think knives out logic, heathers wit, the absurdity of the menu, or the satire of american psycho.
the exception
i am likely aromantic, asexual, or a mix of both. i don’t usually write physical romantic affection — it gives me the ick! this naturally carries over into my characters.
if we assume a romantic connection (past or present), please keep this in mind:
all of my characters, no matter how much they love yours, will spend the entire relationship dodging things like sex and kissing. they might go through the motions of intimacy, but they will find an excuse, create a distraction, or hit a wall of discomfort the second it gets too close.
i am totally fine with this being a source of conflict! if your character felt rejected, unloved, or frustrated by this in the past (or present), run with it!
platonic and casual touch (hugs, leaning on a shoulder, etc.) are always fine!
