In 2012, the launch of Rudaw TV’s first news studio in Erbil marked a turning point in broadcast quality and modern television design in the region.
The architectural design was developed by a Lebanese architect, while the complete lighting design and implementation were carried out by me. At that time, cutting-edge technology was integrated to create a studio that elevated both the aesthetic and technical standards of broadcasting.
🔹 Lighting Design:
Custom lighting angles were designed for the news desk, large LED video walls, and presenter positions.
High-CRI fixtures were used to deliver natural skin tones and avoid color distortion on camera.
Light distribution was optimized to eliminate glare and reflections.
🔹 Technical Features:
Lighting levels were calibrated to meet the highest HD broadcasting standards of the time.
Flexible light scenarios were developed to adapt quickly to different program formats (news, weather, talk shows).
A precise balance of key light, fill light, and backlight ensured depth and visual clarity across the set.
This project is still remembered as one of the highest-quality TV studio designs in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in 2012, combining advanced visual design with professional technical infrastructure to support years of successful broadcasting.
