The desire for perfection, the desire to be the very best. Picking the best from many. Through sacrificing everything. Such as health, their bodies, their surroundings. Missing the beauty of imperfection.
We decided to show this through fruits, picking, picking, picking until the final last bit. Out of the whole selection of fruits, only a small tiny bit was used while the rest is wasted. This is to show that humans are sacrificing things to present themselves as a perfect human in front of others. This happens to a lot of youtube vloggers and Instagram models. Where on camera they present themselves their very best but off camera their shady dark side is revealed. They also sacrifice their body, such as plastic surgery and implants. Also, a lot of people show their pretend best self in front of others to build rapport. Everyone does this to get others to like them, especiallyĀ on first impressions as you never get a second chance to a first impression.
Basically, this film is a metaphor to what the current generation is thinking like, presenting their pretend best self in frontĀ of others.

we tried to make different forms of noises without talking, the whole audio is composed by the noise of the act of consuming chocolate while peeling off the packs, also the noise of sole after raining slipping on the floor: they are the background noise of our life.

āNOWHEREā
First idea came to my brain after handing the poster about assessment two is to using same elements. When i review my poster, i thought of using that kind of collage form, to use Chinese characters, or keep the form of a poster. But i chose to us my own images as that āsameā elements.
To use the photos of me to create a work about Rebellion is not easy, thatās the truth for me. Just like i said in my last statement, i am a person with very limited knowledge and opinions about those ābigā topics. As a student, what i want to make comments of must be the endless exams and the marks that iāll get.
The idea of screen is inspired by Sun Xun, a Chinses artist, he is having an exhibition in MCA now and i visited it. I saw the screens that has Chinses paintings on it and i found that thatās the thing that i can relate.
Appendix 1: https://www.mca.com.au/artists-works/exhibitions/sun-xun/
One of Chinaās most exciting young artists, Sun Xun is best known for his animations made up of thousands of ink paintings, charcoal drawi
i have learned Chinese painting when i was little, so i painted on the inner pages of my screen. The first thing that I painted is Guzheng, which is an ancient Chinese instrument. I used to play it for 6 years and I gave up. Thatās not the thing that i want to do, i realised that after i went to my junior school, so i ended the class and kept drawing from that time.
The very initial idea of the screen was to put what that evaluated me before on the inner page.
i used wanna put them on the āwindowsā of me and make them like pop up books.

(i donāt want to make flat works)
Everything seems very prepared for this assessment, but i was confused. I always think ART is about personal experiences, it is about personal cognitions, but in this work, it seems i donāt have that clue, that clue can make this work is not only about complaints and unsatisfied pieces.
I always want to make works that can relate to rebellion, but after that complaints i made about the things that i donāt satisfied with, what should i do?
I have to find that clue. I have to grab the core of this work.
What is the āARTā? Then this question jumped out again.
i really thought this word. From my perspective, i would like to see āARTā as a form to expressing the thoughts of the creators, it is a way that the creators use to deliver the message they want to say.
It is about communication, i found.
Then i decided to add some sounds to my work: i recorded a video of me doing the outside covers of my screen, after that, i talked to my mum (by Wechat call) about my previous study life.
This conversation with my mum really changed my work.
I summarised this conversation with the word āDOā.
Instead of viewing these unsatisfactory pieces as rebellion, to make change, to find the way out is the real rebellion i want to say in this work. so i covered the page with Guzheng by using a new page that has the āreal rebellionā on it.
Furthermore, i changed the pop-up part to the word āDOā, which is the title of the second part of my work and the āreal rebellionā i want to deliver to the audience viewing this work.
Assessment 2 process
just found the printing shop mixed up my requests..i wanted to print plain stickers but they put my photo to the side that should be ripped off..
fortunately some of them were printed correctly, but i came up new idea for the format of inner page (although it can only be pasted by tapes (looks kinda ugly

now, this moment, i value them as a series of brand-new art work.
ADAD assessment 2
process-1
how can i relate rebellion with my very own experiences? i have been thinking about this question since assessment 1.
As a student who had gone through 11(+3) years of Chinese education system, my childhood, my previous life almost all have relations with exams and marks.
We even have different marking symbols to show the grades of homework, exams, exam exercise books, question books......
In China, 100 means a full mark, 60 means you have passed the exam (not really). I have to say that I am a sort of bad or middle student, because I only got high marks in certain exams, however, there are 9 compulsory classes before 11th grade, which means every Chinese students have to do a exam of 9 or 9+ classes.
When i laid on my bed, thinking about ārebellionā , exams just jumped out. Then I decided to do it, thatās a simple process.
My idea will be displayed in a screen like form (pop-up books also can be seen from it).

a late statement of my work
The reason why i changed to my very first idea is that i found that drag queen is actually a hard topic to illustrate, and it contians representional meanings. Not only to some communities but also for the general environment that everyone in. As a person who have very limited knowledge to deeper topics, i tend to do something that i can relate to, which means me, myself and the things happened to me or around me are my ātoolā to find out what should i do when i do āARTā. The inspiration of this poster came from one of my childhood stories: my mom told me that if I donāt listen to her and try to look through my legs, which is a naughty behaviour in her eyes, a monster will come to me. Itās an obviously āmom storyā but i was truly terrified by that monster when i was little.
I was thinking about the outcomes what if i didnāt listen to her, so i used my head from my childhood old photo. Iād like to make a time transfer of it then I added the legs of current me, in pajama pants.
Honestly i did this poster is not to āagainstā my mom, although āagainstā seems always has some sort of relations to the whole topic āREBELLIONā (and i cannot find an appropriate word to express the whole idea of my work cuz my English doesnāt allow me to), i want to against the world that always make obligations to people, the community that put weird rules on our bodies.
How to be rebel?
How can the rebellion strong enough to express ācontemporary artā?
Those two questions made me start to think about why āARTā always looks crazy nowadays. (I donāt have any offensive meaning to every artist) If the unusual, different and special view of things have less acceptance, then why more and more people label their differences as āARTā?
Art work in my eyes are just something that can express the ideas of some particular topics of the person who did the work. It can be interesting, can be special, can be everything, but art is just part of the life.
I like this topic rebellion, because itās closer to me. Itās like an old friend and i can easily wave hands to her. I always want to jump out of the rules but itās also hard for me to leave without them. Thatās why i only used a bit silly way to express my idea, using pieces of my life to reflect a large topic.
