A real head-banger of a world.
NASA has signed agreements with three U.S. companies to develop designs of space stations and other commercial destinations in space.
NASA funding for three options for commercial ISS successors.
Rocket Lab is moving into Falcon 9 territory, with a unique idea on how to reuse payload fairings.
On Friday morning, Russian docked its new Prichal module to the Earth-facing side of the International Space Station. Russia’s Prichal docking module arrived on a modified Progress spacecraft, where the pressurized module was replaced with Prichal.
Prichal is a docking module, meaning it will be used for Russian Soyuz and Progress spacecraft to dock to when visiting. Before the new module arrival, the Russian segment had four ports for either Soyuz or Progress vehicles to dock to; Prichal brings that number to seven.

NASA is leading an anomaly review board to investigate and conduct additional testing.
The large, space-based telescope's "no earlier than" launch date will slip from December 18 to at least December 22 after an "incident" occurred during processing operations at the launch site in Kourou, French Guiana. That is where the telescope will launch on an Ariane 5 rocket provided by the European Space Agency.
The rock that the entire stack makes after the SMEs light will never not freak me out.
Aria Alamalhodaei at TechCrunch:
A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin against NASA over the agency’s decision to award a lunar lander contract to Elon Musk’s SpaceX earlier this year.
The dismissal of the complaint brings to a close a months-long saga over the Human Landing System program, a NASA initiative to facilitate the design of a lunar landing system that could return humans to the moon in 2024.
Elon handled the victory ... in his own way.
The company is teaming up with Sierra Space for the job.

Artemis I is finally within view as SLS nears completion. Wednesday, the Orion capsule was lifted onto the SLS rocket within the Vehicle Assembly Building. On Wednesday, October 20, workers at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center lifted an Orion crew capsule onto the almost-mythical SLS rocket. SLS, or the Space Launch System, has been in development…
Just look at that...

Karen Fox, NASA:
Following a successful launch on Oct. 16, 2021, analysis of NASA’s Lucy spacecraft systems show the spacecraft is operating well and is stable. Lucy’s two solar arrays have deployed, and both are producing power and the battery is charging. While one of the arrays has latched, indications are that the second array may not be fully latched. All other subsystems are normal. In the current spacecraft attitude, Lucy can continue to operate with no threat to its health and safety. The team is analyzing spacecraft data to understand the situation and determine next steps to achieve full deployment of the solar array.
Hopefully we learn more and Lucy can continue on safely.
The design of the quarter depicts Ride next to a window on the space shuttle, which the Mint says was inspired by her comment “When I wasn’t working, I was usually at a window looking down at Earth.”
Also on the list of women to be featured on 2022 quarters are the late poet and author Maya Angelou, Native American activist Wilma Mankiller, educator and suffragist Nina Otero-Warren, and Chinese-American movie star Anna May Wong.
It’s been a long and winding road getting the James Webb Space Telescope from concept to reality. And finally, after decades of planning, work, delays, and cost overruns, the next generation of space telescopes is finally ready to launch.
Linda Herridge:
Potential launch windows for OFT-2 continue to be assessed by NASA, Boeing, United Launch Alliance, and the Eastern Range. The team currently is working toward opportunities in the first half of 2022 pending hardware readiness, the rocket manifest, and space station availability.
