HOW TO STAY SAFE DURING THIS PERIOD OF ANTI-LIFTERS' ATTEMPTED 'EXPOSĆ'
1. USE AN EXIF DATA REMOVER MOST IMPORTANT - always use an exif data remover when posting ANY kinds of photos. i use Metadata Remover on ios. it is the white icon with blue aperture lens and a small red dash sign
2. TURN OFF LOCATION SERVICES ON YOUR DEVICE to be extra extra safe, go to settings>privacy>location services on iphone and turn OFF for photos. this prevents your phone from storing location information with your photos and can help you immensely if you ever forget to remove exif data.
3. USE AN UNIDENTIFIABLE BACKGROUND FOR PHOTOS when taking haul photos, always use a solid color background or something unidentifiable such as a fur rug. make sure you review your photos and check that they do not include any unnecessary background stuff such as any parts of your home as a friend may easily identify you.
4. BLOCK ALL NON-LIFTING BLOGS THAT FOLLOW YOU i know this may suck since it might reduce your number of followers, but it is important in order to filter out anti-lifting people as once theyāre blocked, they will not be able to see or interact with your blog.
5. CHANGE YOUR BLOGāS PRIVACY go to tumblrās settings on desktop and change your blog to be only viewable to people with a tumblr account (sorry iām not sure about the exact steps but just mess around with the settings and youāll find the option to do this!)
6. NEVER EVER POST ABOUT BRANDS OR SHOPS THAT ARE ONLY AVAILABLE IN YOUR LOCAL AREA OR COUNTRY . this helps doxxers narrow down your location super easily. before posting about something youāre unsure of, do a quick google search of the brand or shop and see which countries they are available in and then decide.
7. TRY NOT TO LIST INDIVIDUAL PRICES because some prices of items are specific to a particular location due to government tax or a promotion/discount thing a brand has ongoing. instead, you should include a total price so itās impossible for people to guess your location from the specific individual prices.
8. DO NOT EVER TELL YOUR LIFTING TRIP STORY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER what this means is basically, do not say you went to sephora, then to the ulta opposite, and then the walmart 2 blocks away, and then the kohls down the street. if people are familiar with their neighborhood, they may discover that this matches it and they will be able to figure out your location. instead, if you really have to, mix up the order of which you go to places to throw people off or give an impression of a different place.
9. BLOCK SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE WHO PRIVATE MESSAGE YOU so many people have been receiving dubious private messages recently regarding interview requests and an offer to listen to their history of shoplifting. DO NOT ACCEPT THESE REQUESTS and block these users immediately.
10. DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR LOCAL STORES!!!! common sense but i have seen people posting photos asking for ideas on how to lift and then include a real photo of their actual store to show the camera layouts etc. no offense but it is literally the dumbest thing one can do because not all chain stores look the same and your location can be identified easily.
11. CREATE A SEPARATE TUMBLR ACCOUNT FOR YOUR LIFTING BLOG with an email that is not associated with you in any way. for example, if your main email is [email protected], do not use an email like ā[email protected]ā for your lifting blog. instead, use something dumb and unrelated like ā[email protected]ā. that way, if anyone ever finds a way to figure out your email, it will be impossible for them to make any connections to you.
12. SCREEN ANY AND EVERYONE IF THEY WANT RL INTERACTION if anyone ever offers to be your irl lifting buddy or wants a haul swap (in which you will need to give out a mailing address), always screen them by scrolling through their account and checking their likes - i remember someone on here sharing about another user who claimed to be pro-lifting but their likes showed that they were obviously anti-lifting. see if they post any personal hauls or personal tips instead of merely just reblogging lifting tips and other peopleās hauls.
13. DONāT EVER POST SELFIES. yes we know youāre probably cute wearing all that lifted make up and clothes but there is absolutely no reason to and youāre just plain dumb if you post a photo of yourself or even a profile picture that is used on your other social media accounts because your accounts can be searched for just by reverse googling the images.
14. TURN OFF ANONYMOUS ASKS. this lowers the chances of someone harassing you and if it was someone who genuinely wants lifting help, they can go create an account to ask off-anon.
thatās all i have so far, if anyone has any extra tips, feel free to let me know and iāll edit the post.
stay safe and always remember that going the extra mile to protect yourself is more important than getting a few more notes on your posts! š
Keeping on anonymous and is it okay if i post prices from a store where all the prices are the same like sëphør@
