Tightening the Wallet (or Card)
I never have a budget. I believe in budget and tracking your spending, but I never actually followed one. But since we moved here in the US, our spending pattern changed --no too drastic, but I felt that I have become more discerning in my purchases and spend at least a month or two before checking stuff out of the cart.Â
Late last week, as I track down our household expenses, I noticed that my grocery shoot up 300% my monthly budget. Meaning I should have enough food to last us for the next two months (until end of May 2020). Interesting because snacks pantry says otherwise LOL!Â
So here I am, challenging myself to NOT DO ANY GROCERY RUN FOR THIS MONTH OF APRIL and be more creative in my cooking.Â
This is one project I hope to succeed :) Â With my controlling self, I need a project that I can take on and control.Â
Let’s all see!Â
You keep me going.Â

Day 11
I’ve been fighting the urge to panic and feel hopeless. Well, I did some massive grocery purchase to secure us for at max three months of staying home. But I haven’t decided if it’s really out of panic or because I wanted to be ready just in case (very thin line).Â
Anyhoo, today I am feeling it. After all the positive talks and connections, home exercise, travel photo resurrection, occasional park walks, and drowning myself in music.Â
I am freakin’ out.Â
Things add up: My boss/friend is now in critical condition due to Covid19, IMF announced global recession, US topping the coronavirus case in the whole world, our temporary stay here in the US, and the mess happening in the Philippines.Â
I just feel hopeless.Â
But then he smiles at you like he’s having a grand time with all the attention, all the play, and all the screen time! Haaay. To be a kid :)Â

18Mar2020
Wednesday.Â
We picked up Chuy from school around 430PM and never went back. Schools closed, work from home systems activated, and panic and fear looms around our little town.Â
We are staying home. We are safe at home.Â
Again, Hello
Ok. Let’s restart again :)Â
Hello cyberworld! I am Jella Roxas, a Filipina temporarily based in Tallahassee, Florida. This is my second tumblr account (check my old blogs at aynjella.tumblr.com), all because for the life of me, I can’t remember my password. Anyhoo, this will be my small space for my thoughts, my travels, and my thingamajiga! Let me try to make this blog more presentable, and find ways to make sure I have new phrases every week.Â
Stay with me here, and share in my Life on W.Penn :)Â
