My favorite time of day

is when the sun pours in

like liquid gold

And it was freeing to know that I was not bound by death or sadness

To know that my beauty comes from above

It is not wrapped up in the length of my hair

Or the number on the scale

Or the clothes that keep my skin warm

It is in the fact that I was crafted in love

And gently shaped into who I would become

It is in the way I dance when no one is around

And how I cry for strangers I see in movies

It is in the way I always look for shooting stars

And know in my heart that it was sent just for me when I see one

It is in the way I look for traces and gifts from my creator in all the things he made for me

In the flowers creeping up through the cracks of the pavement

Or the weeds that bring the bees to our yard

It is in the way that I was made by him and for him

And something that sacred cannot be taken away

It cannot be hidden

It cannot be silenced
