I found blooming

A flower

Crimson was she, rotting flesh and bones

I was found there then

Floating in the river of a love that had nothing but for the remnants of nostalgia

I called out your name then

Day in and day out

I yelled your name into the forest

And yelling back at me was nothing but the darkness of the unknown

And I saw myself then

In the river

Drowning myself

I had cried you a river

I had floated in it

I had been buried

Rancid inside me

Rampant inside me

Was the crimson you left behind

The flowers had rotted then

You had waited too long

And I was nothing but the petals that had once held life in me

But somehow it's still a summer to me

The moments we shared feel like yesterday

The ache remains like the first time I saw you after several years

I am sickened that I'll have to say goodbye forever

Love was knocking at my door

And when I opened it

I didnt find you standing there like I'd always hoped

I found spring, winter, autumn

But nowhere was that unbearable heat of summer

No longer would I be allowed to ache for you without guilt

You will have to be a distant memory to me now

A story I'll one day tell my grandchildren

A story I'm no longer allowed to utter

Nothing more than a memory

Of a summer that once was

A life shattering season
