We got this great email from @ar_trail_slager this morning. He writes: “The Catkins Creek Cabin sits above a spring fed creek on 40 acres near Marble, AR. I’ve always wanted a cabin in the woods since I was a little kid building forts. When I moved to Arkansas from the Chicago suburbs I finally got my chance to build one. My dad (Stan) and brother (Cody) helped me raise the frame and I completed the rest. It is completely off-grid. It is powered by a 400-watt solar kit. There is a composting toilet outhouse with a gravity-fed rainwater shower. I used as many reclaimed/salvaged materials as I could, most of the new wood was locally milled. It is a post and beam/timber frame construction. Inside the cabin I made lots of handmade custom pieces. The bed frame is from an old timber frame barn, the dining table is made from reclaimed doors, the countertop is made from reclaimed pergola slats, the oak floors are reclaimed from an old home that was being torn down and the cabinet hardware is from reclaimed doors”. @catkinscreekfarm More photos on @cabinporn.
