FA WSL 1 Awards at the 2016 FA Women’s Awards.

France got an early goal on us but Marta tied it back up not long after and allowed us to really go on to dominate a good chunk of the game, not letting France hold the ball or form attacking runs. Second half was tough as France got some fresh legs and built their attack back up because of that, but even having a few too many slip ups our defense came through time and time again, as did Barbara who made so many great saves. Formiga continues to be a legend and a ninja, she slid left and right taking the ball from under the French countless times. Rafaelle also had a great game, but really, everyone did, so much individual skill. A big problem continues to be Vadao, who even after the French had made subs and started building their attack back up in the 2nd, only made subs at the 89th minute. I get that our starters have a system that works, but the bench exists for a reason, it needs to be used. We can’t have our girls struggling to keep up against fresh legs, that usually sets them up to lose, it’s why the last 20 minutes are always a chaotic struggle for us where we usually have well deserved and earned wins snatched from us.
