my scent experience:

the fragrance opening smells like powdery cedarwood with a hint of fig leaf. I don't love cedarwood, however with the combination of the earthiness from the fig leaf, it makes this woody note very light and clean, and it reminds me of luxurious body lotion if that makes any sense. as it settles, the powdery elements fade away so you're left with the clean woody scent of cedarwood. once the fragrance dries down, it's now a clean musky scent but you can still pick up hints of cedarwood. it smells clean and warm to me which are from the ambrette seeds. to me, this smells like you're wearing your boyfriend's jacket that you stole borrowed and his perfume is still lingering on it.

the projection of this fragrance is on the intimate side and for a perfume with musc in the name, it makes perfect sense. this lasted approximately 6 hours on my skin which I'm not mad about. I actually like the scent on my skin, and I've considered purchasing a bottle but considering the large collection on my vanity as we speak, the last thing I need to do is add another bottle to the collection. maybe in the distant future, when I've finished a few bottles or decluttered, I might purchase one. people compared this to Diptyque's Philosykos (which I did review) and I understand where people are coming from but there's not enough fig for me to say they're similar.

Matiere Premiere is a French fragrance house where each of their perfumes are created by centering a natural material that has been cultivated or chosen for their unique charms. Parisian Musc is focused on the ambrette seed that has been reinforced with virginia cedar, creating a beautiful woody musk fragrance. I'm aware of this fragrance house's existence but I've only tried Vanilla Powder which I need to revisit because it's been a while since I've smelt it so I can't exactly tell you how I feel about it yet. this fragrance was recommended to Yeosang by Ann Nicole (thatperfumegirl on Tiktok) when she interviewed them, and it's actually cool that Yeosang really likes it and told us on Toktoq. I like that not only he gives us recommendations (for anything really, not just fragrances), but he also listens to our recommendations (not everyone's but you get what I mean).

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes a clean woody scent.

those who want something light, clean and suitable for everyday

anyone who wants to try out Matiere Premiere fragrances.

my scent experience:

the fragrance opens with a zesty lemon and bergamot scent. you can also smell a hint of myrtle as it’s slightly aromatic but lemon is the dominant scent. I like that the lemon note doesn't smell like lysol cleaner because sometimes you get that with lemon in particular so that made me like it from the start. as it settles, the jasmine comes through, but there's a fresh aquatic element to it from the marine breeze. it smells like a fresher jasmine, if that’s possible to imagine. once the fragrance dries down, it becomes very woody from the cedarwood, with a hint of juniper that adds an aromatic element to the base. this fragrance smells like a summer vacation in the Mediterranean, and that's where I need to be right now.

this fragrance has moderate projection which is what I prefer for a perfume. this lasted about 5 hours on my skin, which is much shorter than I expected, considering this is an eau de parfum. I like this perfume, and it's a nice fragrance for the summer; however, this is not one I would reach for if I had it in my collection. this was also hard to find (where I live), but if you’re able to find it, I encourage you to test it out. they do have the La Riserva version available, but since it’s a macerated juice, I doubt they’re the same.

additional notes from me:

this fragrance is part of their Blu Mediterraneo line, inspired by the Italian coastline, in which each fragrance represents different Italian cities, and its blue bottle showcases the transparency of the sea. this perfume in particular presents us myrtle in Panarea and while I never been to this city, I went to Italy 2 years ago and it’s beautiful there. if you haven’t already, you should consider visiting Italy in the summer. they recently released a La Riserva collection of this line - the fragrance goes through a 2-month maceration process for the notes to develop and create a new scent experience. I haven't tried this version out, although if I ever get the chance, I might let you all know. Yunho is known to not really like strong perfumes, so him owning a bottle of this makes sense, especially for the summer. I think this perfume suits him and I wonder what other fragrances he likes.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes citrus and aromatic fragrances.

those who want a summer scent that doesn't smell like sunscreen or coconut.

anyone who wants to try out Acqua Di Parma fragrances.

my scent experience:

the fragrance opening smells like spicy chocolate - as if you mixed saffron with chocolate and you’re left with this sweet and spicy scent. as we all know, I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate so I immediately knew it wasn't going to be a favorite of mine. as it settles, the saffron is still present. however, it's now accompanied with a slightly sweet almost resinous scent, from the vanilla resinoid. once the fragrance dries down, it's now woody with a hint of vanilla, which I don't mind. I couldn't detect the frangipani or the coffee notes in here which would add an interesting twist to this fragrance. if I were to describe this scent, it would be a date night in winter and you decided to go on a walk in the dark.

this perfume had moderate to strong projection and considering the notes listed, it makes total sense. this lasted approximately 7 hours on my skin and I expected that from a warmer scent. if I'm being honest, there's nothing spectacular about this fragrance and nothing about it interests me in the slightest. I wish I liked it but it's impossible for me to like every perfume out there and I will come across ones that I dislike for one reason or another. if you like woody vanillas, maybe you'll like this one.

if you couldn’t tell already, Yeosang loves a Tom Ford fragrance. this is the fifth fragrance he has from the house and he probably has more in his collection. I know Tom Ford has some good fragrances but none of the perfumes I’ve tried have blown me away and for the price, I don't think it's worth it (I have yet to find a fragrance I do like from them). I would love to see Yeosang branch out and try fragrances from other houses because there are so many perfumes from niche houses that I think he would like. and if he doesn't want to stray away from Tom Ford, I suggest that he look into other designer private lines, as they do have interesting fragrances.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes a warm woody vanilla scent.

those who want a winter scent that works in both day and night.

anyone who wants to try out Tom Ford fragrances (private line).

To anyone defending him or saying "maybe he didn't know what it meant", please stop. Mark is a grown man who can make his own decisions and now that he's the CEO of his own label, he is responsible for everything including his wardrobe. He's from Canada (he also lived in NYC) and at some point, most likely learned about the American Civil War at school. I'm not American and I learnt about this when I was at school so he has no excuse. Even if he didn't know, why would he wear a shirt with a flag that he doesn't even know about? We live in a world where information is accessible and we can get answers within seconds so I don’t know why he wouldn't search this up before wearing it. Those few minutes of searching it up, being educated, and re-evaluating his decision of wearing the shirt could've saved him from a lifetime of scrutiny from fans and other k-pop stans alike.

my scent experience:

the fragrance opening is very citrusy but also spicy from the bergamot and pepper. right from the start, there’s a dark vibe to the fragrance already from the spice which is very fitting for the name. as it settles, the jasmine completely takes over with their light and floral scent but you can still smell the bergamot hidden underneath the jasmine. once the scent dries down, it’s straight up leather. I can’t smell the rum and the vetiver which would elevate the fragrance in my opinion. overall, this smells like a man wearing a leather jacket and he gave you a bouquet of jasmines.

this fragrance had moderate projection and it softened in the dry down which is ideal for me as I prefer a softer projection for leather scents. this fragrance lasted around 9 hours on my skin and that’s what I expected for a leathery scent. I don’t mind this fragrance and it’s nice but for me, there has to be a certain time and place for me to wear this and I’m not one to gravitate towards a leather scent so I’ll have to pass on this one. you have to like the scent of leather to enjoy this one.

this fragrance is part of The Smokes Collection - inspired by Kilian’s travel to the Middle East and captures the scent of bakhoor, incense, and tobacco. I know they’re most known for their Liquors Collection but do explore their other lines as they do have a couple of gems hidden there (I have a few faves). they’ve described this perfume as the gentleman of the night which perfectly describes San. we all know he’s a gentleman and his preferences in perfume as of recently adds this seductive touch to him (see Celine’s Nightclubbing). it looks like he does like his fragrances with a smoky or woody element to it so I wonder what other fragrances he uses.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes the scent of leather.

those who want a fragrance for the colder months.

anyone who wants to try out Kilian’s fragrances.

my scent experience:

this fragrance opens very boozy (whiskey to be exact) and slightly sweet from the davana. the wheat is present as I could detect the starchy quality in the opening but you would have to concentrate really hard to smell it. as it settles, the alcohol scent is still present but the woodiness does come through, even if it’s subtle. once the scent dries down, it’s now warm and resinous from the styrax but you can still smell the whiskey. to me, this literally smells like an old fashioned cocktail so if you like that drink, you would like this fragrance.

this fragrance has moderate projection which is good if you’re wearing this on a night out with your friends or at an event. this lasted about 8 hours on my skin which is a little under than I expected considering it’s a warmer scent and usually they last longer on my skin but I’m not mad about it. while this scent is warm, there’s no sweetness to it and I like something a little sweet so despite liking this fragrance, I will pass on this one but if you don’t like sweet scents, maybe check this one out. I will advise you not to wear this in a professional environment as it can be overpowering to some people.

Old Fashioned is part of the Liquors Collection and while not the most well known fragrance of the line, this perfume is quite popular. as I’ve mentioned earlier, this isn’t a sweet scent so if you’ve found that Angel’s Share is too sweet for your liking, maybe try Old Fashioned. I will say, if you don’t like the scent of alcohol and/or cocktails, this collection may not be for you and Kilian does have other lines you can explore. I’m not surprised that Wooyoung has a bottle of this considering he owns a bottle of Angel’s Share and not Yeosang saying those two perfumes smell the same to him. he did retract and said they didn’t but Wooyoung’s reaction was hilarious.

anyone who likes the scent of an old fashioned cocktail.

those who want a warm fragrance that isn’t sweet.
