MADS MIKKELSEN
in VicevĂŚrten (1997).
i genuinely would like to see a study on how the fuck the hannibal nbc fandom has remained not just active but thriving online when the show ended in 2015. other more recent shows have come and gone in the years since then but weâve still got new fics and art and posts happening daily?? how does that happen
hey I think it's because like Hannibal NBC is a re-watchable show in a way that is unlike other media.
on my first watchthrough I was in my teens and I was baffled by what was on screen and I didn't make it thru the 1st season.
every time I watch it I get a different perspective on it, or there's something new I haven't caught before.
on the first couple times I watched it, I saw a villain and a cop facing off. now I watch it and see 2 mirrors/magnets fending each other off.
when I rewatch Buffy, or Supernatural, or Fargo, I see the same show I saw when I first watched it.
but with Hannibal, there's a new small thing to discover. from the way he puts his scalpel down, to the scent of Freddie's hair, I always find something I haven't seen before, to such an extent that it almost becomes a new show.
I wonder if other people have that experience too?
yeah,, i think you mightâve debunked it for us
âThe truth is, Will Graham broke Lecterâs heart at the end of season two when he lied to him. I cried when I wrote that scene. Youâll see Hugh return â heâs flawed light to Hannibalâs darkness.â ~ Bryan Fuller

Mads Mikkelsen + Chopard watch (Voyage magazine 2022, en.calameo.com)
people are crazy if they think jack doesnât love will. he set up the agreement with hannibal bc he didnât want to break him. he was going to implode his career by vouching for him on the stand. he takes him back as soon as will is released from the bschi. heâs ready to put his entire faith in him to catch hannibal. he goes all the way to italy for will after hannibal almost killed him. he ignores every red flag bc he believes that will is, at heart, a person worth fighting for. jack cares more for will than anyone else on the show, and if you think that jackâs character flaw of wanting justice negates all of this then i think you need to watch the show again. without the hannibal lecter does nothing wrong colored glasses on.

Is there room on Tumblr for some Jack Barber love? Because he always seems sorely overlooked and under appreciated!

ââŚheâs asking Bedelia, âis Hannibal in love with me?â and Bedelia is saying âis this a âcanât live with him, canât live without him?'â And essentially it is, and thatâs sort of the conclusion Will comes to at the end, âI canât live with him, I canât live without himâ.â ~ Bryan Fuller
âBedelia was navigating to be the last wife standing and then in came Will and said, 'No!'â ~ Bryan Fuller
I love this so much. I love that Hannibal wasnât just randomly sitting there and missing Will occasionally, that he kept the appointment time open, so he sat there REGULARLY for WEEKS, looking across at that empty chair, longing for the day Will would fill it again, feeling Willâs silence like a draft.
And Will KNEW it, he KNEW Hannibal would be there waiting, just as the two had always known where to find the other without the need to call ahead, no matter the distance and inconvenience between them, that compulsion to find the other that sent Hannibal to Quantico when Will was 30 seconds late for THIS SAME appointment, bypassing Wolf Trap because he knew Will wouldnât be there, that same compulsion that sent Will to Hannibalâs home, knowing heâd be there and not at his office, when Will had to drive a hour in the snow to unburden himself.
And while Hannibal faithfully waited for Will all those nights, heâd no reason to believe Will would show up now; Will had been free for days and left him waiting. Will had been to his home and almost killed him, and Will had left, silent and still angry, so that when that knock came on the door of his office, Hannibal did a double take at his own appointment book, even though he knew damn well what time it was. And he opened the door and there Will stood, just as heâd always stood, in the center of the waiting room and facing awayâno need to sit when he knew Hannibal would never keep him waitingâdemonstrating such trust that only giving someone your back can demonstrate, especially knowing the violence Hannibal is capable of. He had a confidence in their relationship even Hannibal is no longer sure he can give Will anymore, not now that Will is becoming what Hannibal always knew was in him to become, and in so buying that transformation, Hannibal may have cost himself the friendship that had become dearer to him than anything, because Will was dearer to him than anything, even when he believed Will was not a murderer after all.
But here Will is back, the same and not the same, their friendship is back, the same and not the same, and Hannibal himself is back, the same and not the same. âYou changed me,â Will says, and Hannibal replies, âThe friendship we had is over. The Chesapeake Ripper is over.âÂ
He gave it up for Willânot killing, not who he isâbut his very favorite expression of who he is. He had been consumed by frustration and outrage when someone took credit for his Ripper killings previously, and here he goes and just gives the credit awayâand to a man he doesnât even respectâall for Will, so he can fill that silence in his life and bestill that cold and empty draft.
âThe Chesapeake Ripper is over,â he says to Will. You changed me too.Â

I had to get this out of my brain, but i genuinely feel like Will would be a vast contrast as a killer to Hannibal. Hannibal has his strength, his expertise, and years of doing this.
Will doesnât.
sure he would follow through with the entire ritual, but the initial kill would feel feral. Damn near blitz attack. Because that surprise is his upper hand. No one expects a sheep to actually be a wolf.
Exactly! That one scene with Randall Tier is proof that Will won't hold back on killing. He's basically "no thoughts, mind be killing" and he goes all out feral and wild.
That's exactly his becoming.
This meat is not pork. Itâs long pig.
[2x10] Just an open appreciation of this scene and all that occurs within it. (aka a philosophical discussion revolving around the subjectivity of evil interspersed with a hearty dose of eye fucking).
The specific tone of voice Will used when he said âsame thingâ, clearly asking as if to see what Hannibalâs opinion is, or to lead him, but with just that specific tone I canât quite name - I know this scene was all about Will trying to persuade/manipulate/lead Hannibal and convince him that Will was on his side. But from the first time I heard that, that line left a very distinct impression on me that Will is openly and very deliberately flirting with Hannibal even as they have a deep conversation about good and evil and the nature of man. That might not seem worth mentioning, but I feel thereâs a difference between simply stringing a lovesick cannibal along into thinking youâve finally come fully to his side and openly flirting with him, complete with coyly smiling and avoiding stating your intentions outright. (Look at that smile in the bottom-most left gif and tell me thatâs not coy as fuck.)
