RACHEL: Today I discovered "energy boosters", which add the amount of caffeine from one cup of coffee into any smoothie or drink!

RACHEL: Which means, I found a healthier option for my daily caffeine run and no one has to deal with a non-caffeinated Rachel Berry, but I also get to feel good in making a healthy choice.

RACHEL: Keeping up with a toddler without caffeine is practically impossible, and my boy is being very...energetic, as of late.

RACHEL: And so in this thrilling tale, my life has is saved!

RACHEL: But, that's more than enough about me. How has your life been since the...incident?

FINN: That's really cool. I don't really like the taste of coffee to begin with.

FINN: Sounds like maybe you got a little athlete in the making. He'll be sprinting before you know it!

I don’t bring you the remote because I’m not your dog. I’m definitely smarter than the dog and more organized than you. Having your mom yeet you outta the house does that to you.

Glad you made it outta there. As funny as it would’ve been to cull the herd with a city-wide disaster, I don’t think I can find a backyard big enough to bury all of you monkeys in.

I’ve seen you eat a sandwich out of the garbage, you got no room to preach about responsibility. 

I know you’ve been dyin’ without me, so I thought I’d grace y’all with my presence. How’s Chicago? Just as shitty as I remember?

I’ve rolled my eyes significantly less since I’ve had less “y’alls” thrown my way.  I’d wager that Chicago is even shittier than you remember.  Are you looking for your spot back?  I’m sure you’re aware of the hierarchy shift.  

THE BLING RING AESTHETIC 

Finn was well aware his apartment looked insane.  He hadn’t made much of an attempt to pick it up after it had gotten ransacked a few weeks ago, just making sure any broken glass was picked up off the floor.  It shouldn’t have surprised him how Kitty was able to squeeze between his bulky frame and the doorway to catch a glimpse at the state of things.  It wasn’t rare for Kitty to make her way down the hall and wind up at his front door with the request of whiskey; however, this couldn’t be a more inopportune time for the detective to show up at his front door. 

Ben was in the guest bedroom, and while they had an agreement that he would never be locked behind closed doors, if somebody showed up he would need to keep himself discreet.  As a sign of trust Finn had agreed to remove the collar for the time being.  That collar was now haphazardly placed on the coffee table along with the remote that unlocks it.  Finn only hoped he could get to it before Kitty recognized it, he did steal it from her police station after all.  

“Nows not really a good time Kitty.  I gotta be up real early for a press junket.” A lie, but she didn’t need to know that.  “I’ll make it up to you, and we can hit that new lounge downtown sometime instead."

Finn knew they had a lot to talk about.  The conversation was inching towards what Mimi saw after the charity event-- the way Finn was able to stand minutes after being shot by a military grade sniper rifle, but they were saved by the bell.  The uncomfortable conversation was briefly put on hold by the promise of takeout.  This particular evening had all the trappings of a typical night between the two of them: take out, a little bit of alcohol, occupying the space on Finn’s couch a little too closely to one another.  Except, their usual banter was replaced with a different kind of tension as so many unasked questions hung in the air.  

Finn returned to the living room, dinner in hand.  “Looks like they finally got your order right,” he teased handing over her meal, taking up the spot next to her on the couch.  He glanced up at the tv, they’d decided on some action flick on tv, almost like they were trying to force normalcy— naturally it’d gone ignored as they started dancing around the topic of the charity event.  Finn trusted Mimi, he knew the journalist in her wanted more answers, and he was still struggling with how much he should reveal.  He reached for his beer bottle on her coffee table, and took a swig before resting the bottle on his knee.  

“I know it’s not your style, but I’m not going to apologize for trying to drag you out of there.  I just didn’t want you to get hurt,” he began.  Of course it was futile trying to remove Mimi from where all the action was, he should have known better to think she wouldn’t have chased him back into the stadium.
