MEANING BEHIND HIS NAME
Instead of using his name, Noeul chose the first name Yeomyeong, which references the morning dawn, contrasting the meaning of his own name, twilight. He wanted a natural separation from himself and the character. Eventually, the character will change his name to the stage name "Noeul," indicating that the reality and fiction will overlap, and turn on its side. A nonsensical complicated choice, but one gave him the inspiration for the character.
CHAPTER 00: BEFORE SEOUL
He was at a lost of what to do with his life after finishing mandatory military service. His mother wanted him to follow in his father's footsteps and become a civil servant, but an office job was soul crushing from his perspective. He didn't see himself struggling day in and day out with long office hours, and barely any recognition from his superiors. Sure, he saw the benefits and retirement plan after several decades, but was that life really worth living? After several months of unemployment, his father was fed up of his son wasting away valuable years in his bedroom playing video games, and only coming out for meals. If he wouldn't sign up for college, he needed to get out of his house. He begins crashing at his friends' couches, rotating whenever his friends got fed up. He befriends the lead singer of a band on the cusp of a tour while attending a party. He offers up his music that he had been producing in his bedroom. He gets invited to come to Seoul after a crew member drops out. He jumps a the opportunity and was Seoul bound by that Tuesday afternoon.
CHAPTER 00: LOST IN SEOUL
After several gigs, he decides that the crew member life is not for him. He doesn't have much luck finding people that will take him seriously about his music. A suggestion to audition for several trainee programs leaves him feeling at a lost, and completely disillusioned from his life. He doesn't want to head back to his hometown and admit defeat to his parents. He vows that he will only return if he can't make it in a year. His ambition is to become a producer, and work behind the scenes. He has no intention of becoming a singer, or a performer. While fulfilling a delivery order, he stumbles upon an ad searching for roommates at the front entrance of the building. His sharehouse was in terrible condition, and full of rowdy students. What is the worst that could happen? He rips the phone number at the bottom of the ad to call on his way out. Fate was on his side yet again.
