Hey, so we’re all going to be chill and good and cool when it comes to the whole “using AI in fanfic” conversation and not turn it into a weird witch hunt right?

Like we don’t need to create detectors and vociferously run our fav fics through them on the off chance there might be a fragment of AI code that doesn’t definitively address whether the fic is AI-generated or not.

We understand that utilizing AI, which is heavily built into softwares and platforms now, is not the same as typing “make these girls kiss in this setting upload to AO3, hahaha I have tricked everyone into loving my story” kind of shit. Right?

We understand that detectors rely on copy-pasting text from the Claude browser and that any person or fic could be AI-generated and just be cleared of those fragments before hand. We understand that AI analysis tools are making best guesses based off the datasets that trained the AI—the fanfic itself. This isn’t to say it’s all AI, but you’ll drive yourself and writers crazy by engaging in witch hunt shit for some moral purity test.

We can be kind and loving and assume the best of each other even.

We don’t do witch hunt shit.
