on the early morning of october 24th, 2020, the news reports the following as breaking news:

“the federal bureau of investigation has announced that 3 more victims have been discovered in a string of serial murders that were assumed to be limited to the west coast until this week, a 22 year old up and coming model in philadelphia, a 24 year old dj in new york, and just early last night a 26 year old influencer here in salem. if you have any information about these crimes you can find the appropriate contact information on the bureau’s website.”

an hour after the new report breaks, you receive the following e-mail from an address named anonymous, when you try to reply to the e-mail, you get an error message saying that the address you’re trying to send to does not exist

“hello [full birth name here], did you feel how close i was to you? did you feel my eyes on you while you ventured through the haunted asylum, then to the haunt or while you ventured around salem today? know that i’m always watching and i will be seeing you soon...”

on the evening of october 16th, 2020, the evening news reports the following:

“it’s been about a month since the federal bureau of investigation has reported and launched it’s investigation into the serial murders of different celebrities and influencers that are similar to crimes committed last fall, they have announced that three more victims have been discovered. the first a young social media influencer who’s body was discovered in downtown los angeles on thursday the 15th in the afternoon, the second an up and coming actor, who’s body was discovered this morning in long beach, the third is still currently unidentified but they are tying the crime to the same killer.”

six hours later, at 11:59 PM on the same evening, you receive the following e-mail from an address named anonymous, when you try to reply to the e-mail, you get an error message saying that the address you’re trying to send to does not exist

“hello [full birth name here], do you believe it’s really me now? are you curious to know if i’m watching you right now? i hope you’re as excited as i am about the 19th, 21st and 23rd maybe we’ll finally see each other face to face, or did you think you wouldn’t be next? i’ll see you soon“

on the evening of september 28th, 2020, the evening news reports the following:

“almost two weeks after an official announcement from the federal bureau of investigation that a serial killer is targeting celebrities and influencers in a manner similar to that of last fall, they have announced that two more victims have been identified. one, a young influencer who’s body was found in north hollywood on friday september 25th, and another an up and coming hip hop artist who was found just outside of las vegas, nevada in the early hours of the 27th. this brings the number of victims up to 8.“

six hours later, at 11:59 PM on the same evening, you receive the following e-mail from an address named anonymous, when you try to reply to the e-mail, you get an error message saying that the address you’re trying to send to does not exist

“hello [full birth name here], have you had time to let it sink in that i’m back? i know some people are having a hard time believing it but sooner or later the truth will be realized. are you wondering whether you’ll be next or if i’m saving the best for last? i hope so. i’ll be seeing you.“

on the evening of september 13th, 2020, you just happened to be in a room where the evening national news was playing in the background, a news reporter explains the following:

“following the deaths of six young celebrities over the past month, the federal bureau of investigation has released a statement that can be found online about their belief that these deaths are all linked and might be the work of a serial killer. the fbi believes that this person or people are targeting celebrities who they believe to have some sort of secret or something dark in their past, much like a similar serial killer who was targeting celebrities exactly a year ago. a direct quote from the statement says that ‘these are execution style killings, the subject(s) believe that they are ridding the world of impure people in the spotlight. it has been exactly one year since we officially announced that there was a serial killer targeting people in the same manor and it is our belief that these are copycat killings’ if you have any information or believe that you or someone you know is in danger, you can find the appropriate contact information on the bureau’s website.“

six hours later, at 11:59 PM on the same evening, you receive the following e-mail from an address named anonymous, when you try to reply to the e-mail, you get an error message saying that the address you’re trying to send to does not exist

“hello [full birth name here], did you hear? hollywood’s most secretive are being picked off one by one. i think you’d fall into that category, don’t you? if you’re not scared yet, you will be. oh, and did you believe the fbi when they said these were copycat killings? if you did, i’m sorry to let you in on the good news: i’m back to finish what i started.“

following this email, you remain uneasy. you’re not sure who it’s from, if it’s really from this person that the fbi have dubbed the executioner, or if someone is just trying to mess with you. but it doesn’t sit right. you constantly feel like you’re being watched, it’s hard to sleep, you’re terrified whenever you’re alone. and you don’t want to admit it – but you’re secretly wondering if you’ll be next.
