This is important. You live in Kochi, and Kochi is VERY likely to have a massive, deadly quake in about the same timeframe. You have an emergency kit- but check it and keep it up to date!

Good description of quality of life in Japan. Though my personal experience with doctors has varied. Doctors are not accustomed to being talked to- you are seen, but not spoken to. If you disagree, you really, really need to stay after them.
