Grandeur Awaits|| Cordelia & Violet
Cordelia smiled at her friend as she made to grab her personal affects from the staff room. She had her coat, purse, boots, and scarf ready to leave in record time.
"You know, we should try that little thrift shop by the by towards campus. I've been told they have some vintage looking gowns for a deal," she suggested, stepping out into the sunny snow and squinting at the sudden light. "I'm sure we can head back to my place and then back round again before it gets too cool out here!"
She smiled and took in the rays of light, closing her eyes and spinning briefly. This was her favorite part of winter-- the feeling that the world was wanting to wake up to crisp bright mornings, or crispy cool evenings trying to blind the creatures that took to their holes and dens to escape the harsh weather. It reminded her of a gentle coaxing to awaken, like when she was younger and her mother would carefully nudge her side, and her mind would regain consciousness before she opened her eyes-- and she could see and feel the light of morning through her eyelids.
"So," she began, returning to the present, "How long do you think we can get back to my place? I'm dying to try on some dresses!"
"Sure," Violet chirped, beaming. "You never know: some caffeine-starved maniac might lick your pants if you don't." She blinked, eyes wide as she realized what she just said, and started to laugh. "Oh, gosh, that came out wrong."
Blinking twice, Violet's words sank in with her, and suddenly cacophonous laughter rang out within the cafe. She grabbed her sides and doubled over, trying to calm herself. "No," she giggled, "No, it's alright!" She took in a couple deep calming breaths. "I'm just laughing, because I almost said rather the same thing..." And she started laughing again.
"Anyway," she looked over at the clock on the wall, "We should head out then!"
"Our shift ends in, I think, sixteen minutes?" Violet grinned up at Cordy, peering around her hip to see the clock. "Yep, sixteen minutes exactly. You wanna go in sixteen minutes?" She appraised her coworkerâs situation and frowned. "And also, maybe, dâyou wanna climb off the counter very carefully because I just mopped and the floor is wet?" She dragged a chair over from one of the empty tables and offered a hand.Â
Cordy groaned, taking Violet's hand and carefully stepping onto the chair and hoisting herself off the counter. "Why did you have to mop.... Never mind." Once she was safely on the floor again, her disposition jumped back to one of effervescence. "Fifteen minutes... yes!"Â
"But," she winced, "Would you mind stopping by my place so I can change? I spilled espresso on my trousers earlier, and I'm afraid I might attract some caffeine starved lunatics."
"So." Violet walked over to the counter, leaning her mop against the tip jar. "The school sent out that email about a formal dance. I was wondering if you wanted to go dress shopping. At some point." She rubbed the back of her neck nervously, shifting her weight. "So, erm⌠Do you?"
"Are you flippen kiddin' me," Cordelia shrieked, hopping up on the bar, grinning madly. "That would be terrific!" She felt as though her hopes had been set too high when the last dance had been rumored for Christmas. It was a good thing the event had actually taken place since she never did find a dress she found suitable. However, this could be her chance to find the perfect dress. Not that she was looking to impress anybody, but a nice dress always gave her a boost of energy. "When do you think we should go?"

It depends on how accurate you want the thing to be I suppose. Though in all honesty, thatâs not a bad thing to check in to.
Right? I thought it was quite brilliant, although I'm afraid they might be pretty pricey. And who's to say they'll behave just like us, if not for a pretty penny more. It's a matter of trust now...
Mentally preparin' myself for this next courseload. I think I might look into one of those "Hire-A-Doppleganger" services, and sleep the semester away.
How much do you think they go for, exactly?
Violet P: Why? What are you planning?
Cordy P: Got it. Root Beer, Charleston Chews, Hunchback of Notre Dame. Check check check
Cordy P: Oh, just a little girls night.
Cordy P: I figured we could use one before classes start again
Cordy P: That is, if you want to?
Violet P: Yes. Yes, yes, yes.
Violet P: I've never had a girls' night. It sounds really, really fun. :)
Cordy P: Oh, it'll be absolutely great! Come round my place on Thursday.
Cordy P: um, bout fivish.

Cordy P: Sooooo, I have a few questions for you. txt me back. :D
Violet P: What's up?
Cordy P: I need to know a few things. What's your favorite soda? Give me your top five favorite feel-good movies. AND What is your favorite candy bar?
Violet P: Root beer, always and forever. Either Dove or Cadbury Dairy Milk, though Charleston Chews can never go wrong. V For Vendetta, The Witches, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, Coraline, and Speak.

Death by Boredom | Nora & Cordelia
âInteresting? Â What do you mean by that?â She laughed. She started to wonder if there was someone else who liked Jasper besides her. She wasnât too sure she was in any state to battle over a boy. She hated confrontation. Confrontation had given her nothing but trouble. Sure, he was handsome. But she barely knew the guy. Still, her new friendâs comment did spark her curiosity, and that was always a dangerous road.
âAlgebra TA? Seems innocent enough. I once thought I was in love with my biology teacher my freshman year of high school. We all go through it.â She smiled, guiding her new friend out of the library and back onto the cold campus grounds. âGod did it get colder?â She shivered, wrapping her coat more snuggly around her. âI love Michigan, but I hate this cold.â
âI wish we had like, a club or something so we can meet cute guys. Can you imagine? I think weâd make quite a stir donât cha think?âÂ
"Oh, I just mean that I haven't really been looking," Cordy shrugged. Since she wasn't actively looking, the half a dozen times in the last two years that she'd noticed some attractive young men, didn't really imprint on her. She'd either brush them off as the standard run-of-the-mill handsome bloke, or figure they wouldn't give her the time of day. Or, at least not the right time of day. Maybe a couple hours off.
"Yeah, that guy, his name was Casey. Alan Casey." Her eyes squinted with the memory, almost as if she was looking at him once again. "He would turn to write the equations on the board. Gave us all a nice view." She shook her head giggling. "It's not like I was arse over elbow for the man-- although I did get an A in the class. Which isn't something I can remember doing in Maths. Usually manage about a B or B+ if I'm lucky." She let out a sigh of confusion and continued on down the courtyard walkway.
"God, I know. It's so cold!" Her teeth chattered almost on queue, and she burst out laughing. "A club? That's a horrific idea! I'd never get anything done with the noise that would almost definitely reach me all the way back to my room! The random Karaoke nights at Little Things is quite enough excitement for me. Me, Making a stir..." she chuckled.
Or do we call it a ball these days? Anyways, thatâs what weâre having. A winter ball that will be held on the 25th of January. Bring your best dancing shoes and partners, if possible. It is a formal events, so gents youâll be required to be in suits and tuxedos while the ladies have their dresses...

Death by Boredom | Nora & Cordelia
Nora nodded, catching her breath. âIâmâŚIâm fine.â She gulped, taking a deep breath to calm herself down. âSharpâŚobjects make me nervous. Childhood trauma and all that.â She smiled at her new friend, doing her best to reassure her that she was fine. That was the fourth time this week sheâd made a public outburst due to some random household object. If she kept this upâŚNo. She wouldnât think about it.
âSo, Jasper is his name?â She changed the subject, hoping to take the attention off of her and onto more normal things. âI havenât been able to bring myself to talk to him, but he seems like m kind of guy.â She giggled. What the hell was that? I never giggle. She picked up her book bag, slipping it onto her shoulder, picking up Cordyâs books and handing them to her, then slipped her arm through the other girlâs.
âNow that weâve established m type, is there anyone around here thatâs caught our eye? Anyone you fancy?â She smiled, tilting her head. She had a feeling this was going to turn into a beautiful friendship, that is if she could keep the meltdowns to a minimum.Â
Not entirely convinced that the entire situation was properly handled, Cordelia looked Nora up and down to check for injury. Finally deciding nothing was truly amiss, she smiled and followed Nora's lead.Â
"He's your type, eh? Well, that'll sure be interesting," she laughed. Nora's giggle was infectious, and the laughter just poured forth.
Her next question, however, caught Cordy completely off guard. Who around here did she fancy? Had she given herself any time to fancy anyone. She had noticed how charming Jasper was, and there were a couple other blokes around the dorms who quite fit... Yet she wasn't entirely sure any of them had grabbed her fancy.
"You know, I'm not entirely sure. I guess had a bit of a crush on an Algebra TA my freshman year..."  Nothing too serious, she added silently to herself.
