Abby hadn't known where else to go after Jake's passing. So she went home to New York City. She packed up everything her and Clarke owned in a U-Haul after making arrangements for an apartment. She had enough money to take her time in finding getting a job so she could make sure that Clarke was settled in properly. When she put out feelers for a job, it didn't take long after they got settled for her to get a job with one of the biggest hospitals in the city.

They'd been in the city for two months now, and she'd been at her job for just a little over two weeks when she'd gone out for coffee on her break and had decided to pick up the jacket that Clarke had been wanting for her birthday. She hadn't been paying attention to where she was going when she ran straight into someone rushing the other way.

All she saw was the jacket spilling out into the dirty street and the man's briefcase opening and the contents scattering in all directions. Her cheeks went red hot as she began apologizing. "I'm so sorry. That was clumsy of me not watching where I was going." She watched as someone stepped on Clarke's brand new jacket, but not one person stopped to help pick up the mess.

She felt so angry and ashamed as she rushed to pick up the man's papers before the same thing happened to them. "Sir, I'm so sorry. If I can do anything to replace or make this up to you..." She looked up then as she placed the papers in his hands and right into the eyes of someone familiar.

happiness. it all did feel something fleeting and broken. he wants to give her everything. he wants to offer her peace, for the first time in far too long. and why should she not have it? why shouldn’t he? they’ve gone through so much to stop here at the edge of possibility and look back with desperation. they have this chance and Marcus was going to take it by the reins.

leaning into her touch he lets out a small breath, his eyes looking between hers before he leans towards her, forehead touching to hers. when he breathes in it’s all her and he allows that feeling ‘to calm him, to allow for his uncertainties to be washed away in light of it all.

“ we do. and we will be. “ it’s a promise that he gives to her, offering it up to her like an oath that he hadn’t even known he was capable of giving just then. he enjoys knowing that it’s them two, just them that will face this road together. it’s what matters, it’s what means something.

“ who else but us, Abby? who else but us? “ and he kisses her softly, taking in the soft feel of her because it’s what matters, it’s what a chance and he won’t let it get away.

Abby took in his promise that they would be happy, that the deserved to be happy. Her heart skipped a beat at his words, even though she'd spoken them moments before he had echoed them back to her. They'd gone through so much to be right here where they were right here in this moment. She wasn't about to let anything get in the way of settling down and making a life here.

She had been about to speak when his mouth captured hers in a soft kiss. She moved her hand up into his hair, tangling her fingers in his longer locks as the kiss became more intimate, more passionate. Her toes tingled as their lips parted after a few moments. Her cheeks burned bright red but not from embarrassment, from the sheer power of the moment the two of them shared.

there’s a long moment that lingers between him. he can feel her fear, her sadness and it feels broken. he wishes that he could fix all of this for her. she deserves it, far more than she even imagines herself. she has gone through so very much and each time his heart breaks even further.

“ we can, Abby. you know that we can. “ reaching his hands out he carefully takes her face in them as he holds her eyes. his thumb gently brushes her skin, his heart beating rather quickly in his chest. he wants this to work, in fact he needs it to work for any of this to continue onward.

“ do you trust me? “ he asks softly, brows lightly furrowing as he waits for her on what she’ll tell him in response. she deserves the world and he wishes that there was a way that he could possibly give it to her. “ do you trust what we can have here? after everything? “

Abby let his words wash over her, reaching her down deep and moving past all of the doubt and fear. She leaned into his hands, eager for his touch. It soothed her in ways that nothing else in life could. Not even Clarke's presence and happiness. She nodded her head as he asked her if she trusted him. "With my life," she breathed softly.

Her hands move to cover his as they hold her face tenderly within their grasp. She doesn't look away for fear of losing this moment. "I have to," she promised, letting a smile tug at her lips. She turned her head slowly, gently capturing his palm in a soft kiss as a sigh escaped her mouth.

She slipped out of his grasp and wrapped herself around him, head resting on his chest and shoulder. She can feel his heart as it beats beneath his ribs and her ear. "Because if I don't, Marcus, then I risk letting the past control our future. And that is something I cannot live with."

「 he only half relaxed when he saw abby. his fingers loosened, but remained curled around the grip of the gun. just because she’d been kind to him a handful of times before, didn’t mean she wasn’t going to turn him in now. but when she spoke, the concern in her voice stamped out those fears and his hand dropped to his side. the way she said his name was almost comforting.

murphy opened his mouth to say something, explain maybe, but being grabbed and pulled back inside the door startled him enough that his mouth opened and closed wordlessly. following her gaze to emori, that fear crawled back up his throat. he moved between the two women protectively, without even thinking to. abby had no reason to care about emori, leave alone risk her life and place in the bunker for the two of them. it was barely believable that she was worried about him. 

suffice to say, her last words had him shocked. his eyes narrowed, the only show of the confusion that bombarded him. he wasn’t used to people looking out for him. maybe he never would be.

his tongue darted out across his bottom lip before he spoke.  ❝ that’s what we’re doing. every where else sounds like its crawling with people. ❞ he hadn’t been the most adventurous admittedly, wanting to avoid people. and it really didn’t make sense why this section of the bunker was empty. but that wasn’t a question he wanted an answer to, not wanting to jinx himself.

hiding was only a temporary measure, even with abby’s apparent help. he still didn’t know how to resolve that yet. ideally he’d find a way to make them useful - too useful to kick out when they were eventually found out.  」

Abby nodded. "These rooms house all the electrical gizmos that make the rest of this place work. The farm and the medical bay. So unless something breaks down, you should be safe here." For the time being, but that went without saying.  She didn't try to move between John and Emori, knowing full well that he would do whatever he could to protect her.

She closed her eyes and put her fingers to the bridge of her nose to pinch it slightly as the pain started. She felt her body growing a bit numb. She shook her head, knowing that she should probably seat herself in case a seizure was to follow.

These were exactly like Raven's symptoms, and she would have to follow the instructions that Raven had laid out for Jackson on how to handle the stroke and remaining code inside her brain. She took a shaky breath as she bent to touch one of the large pipes protruding from the wall to check and see if it was cool enough to seat herself upon. Finding it cold, she sat down slowly and looked up at him.

It had taken a while for Abby to come to terms that they had been in cryosleep for over one hundred years instead of the ten that they had been told. Monty and Harper had done right by the others by trying to find them a habitable planet with the hacked Eligius III files. When Clarke had woken her to see the planet, she had been mesmerized. And her thoughts had instantly gone to Marcus. She had to save him and make things right so that he could share in the joy of what was hopefully to be their new home.

With the help of Jackson and every resource available to them, they managed to stop his internal bleeding and keep him stable. She had kept him in a coma until his injuries healed to prevent further trauma to his body.

She bad been sitting by his bedside when he had woken, and when he opened his eyes, she cried tears of joy. She had feared that she had lost him. She took him to the observation window and shown him the planet and it had been the most beautiful sight to see him seeing their future for the first time.

They would do better here. They had to.

And now they were on the ground. The others had been on the surface for over a week and a half when they joined them. And now they were left alone at the camp that Clarke and the others had built while they explored the planet for the best place to make a settlement.
