I dunno, I just can't care about Fortune's Weave. I am trying so hard but I just feel nothing. I LOVE THREE HOUSES it is one of my favorite FE games I've always adored it! But I truly do not feel a single emotion looking at Fortune's Weave

I love Xenoblade but I just feel nothing looking at Genesis. There's just nothing there in my eyes. Just a blur of a probably $80 pricetag. Star Fox remake looks awful, Kirby Air Riders is empty, Mario Kart World is emptier, I don't careeee. This console is so bad I just don't care

And now I think I just view Nintendo series as kind of like.. a closed book. Fire Emblem ended with Engage celebrating the whole series, Xenoblade ended with Future Redeemed finishing the trilogy, Pokemon ended with Scarlet/Violet's timeloop and Zygarde saving Lumiose. Kirby ended with Forgotten Land, Splatoon ended with 3, Mario ended with Brothership. I just don't care about the future of these series anymore. I don't think there's any care or heart, just products to make us spend hundreds of dollars on a couple of video games. There is nothing geniune or passionate about $80 games.

Of course there's always wonderful fan projects and older games which I'll enjoy, but this is Nintendo we're talking about, keeping a tight corporate chain around every series ensuring nobody enjoys it unless following their specific strict rules

A defense I see all the time is "well if the Switch 2 is so bad just play your backlog" and like... yeah I will. Um. Do you not realize how bad that makes the console sound. That the only defense is just. Play something else. Like I will be happy to, I just think the multi billion dollar corporation with a ton of series they keep a tight chain on should actually make video games. I don't really think that is a problem I think that's a normal reasonable ask.....

I think Nintendo Directs these days are focused more on announcing older third party games rather than having anything new, and it makes such a weird disconnect. This console barely has anything new from Nintendo or third parties and it feels like it's just a slab made to play older third party games, but like.. what's the point?

I know that sounds silly but Nintendo's been so stingy on news the past year I'm kind of expecting the direct to go

Awful uncanny Star Fox trailer -> 15 minutes of headlines that are just games you can play on any other console already now released for full price on Switch 2 -> FINALLY A FORTUNE'S WEAVE TRAILER which will be the direct highlight -> more headlines of games we've seen -> literally no mention of Persona 4 Revival or Persona 6 -> maybe a Switch 2 edition of an older game, which will charge you of course for nothing but visuals -> Ocarina of Time remake (same guy who predicted Star Fox said there'll be one so idk)

Like this company has so little to show and the first year of the Switch 2 was literally nothing compared to the Switch 1's first year I am expecting nothing but disappointment and a brief relief of them finally showing Fire Emblem I hope but yeah. It's gotten so bad I don't even know if I should expect a new game

SGF was just full of uninspired realism slop, just the most huge budget boring passionless games with that same awful style. Nobody cared about making these games and that's why they just use the same usual realism. There was a few good things (Cuphead) but it was just a sad showcase of how little game devs care anymore

And then the Xbox Showcase shoves that junk outta the way and goes "PERSONA 6, PERSONA 4 REVIVAL, SPYRO 4, CASSETTE BEASTS 2, VIVARIUM THIS REALLY PRETTY STUDIO GHIBLI STYLED GAME, CASTLEVANIA," and a good chunk of more stuff. It was incredible.

I can imagine it now. Direct closer where we get a very generic realistic overview of a city. The most uncanny overdetailed Polar Express or Street Fighter 6 looking kid in a striped shirt walks out. Geniunely eye piercing and nausea inducing from an obsession with realism and detail. An equally detailed bee is by his side saying stuff like "Focus, N."

The gameplay doesn't have any unique backgrounds or anything it's hyper realistic Ness entering a real time action battle with unstylized realistic enemies and only one battle theme in the game. He has like three magic attacks but otherwise just uses bat swings.

The title shows up. It's just "Mother", making it incredibly confusing as it's a remake of Mother 2.

Prime 4? Super short and repetitive with uncanny ugly visuals. Kirby Air Riders? Doesn't even have all the Dream Friends, one playable woman in the whole game, one map. Mario Tennis Fever? $70 for literally just Mario Tennis Aces with 4 extra characters. Pokemon Legends Z-A had a really cool battle system but is basically just The Same Exact Thing on a loop. Mario Kart World showed all it had to offer in its first trailer and was just driving in straight lines from there

I dunno. They just. Have so little in them. But they're so expensive. There's like a weekend worth of new stuff to do for almost $100.

Tomodachi Life over on Switch 1 is perfect though and had SO MUCH to do, I've seen that game talked about more and longer than the entire Switch 2 library it's incredible. But yeah I dunno. All the Switch 2 games are like "you pay $20 for the content and $50 for the Official Brand™️". If I have to pay SEVENTY DOLLARS for a game, I want it to be an incredibly content packed experience that I will find new things in and enjoy for several months, I want it to be a cherished game I'll always enjoy. Something like Smash Brawl where there's so many unlockables and secrets I find something new every time I open the game, and less like Smash Ultimate where you unlock everything in a day, have a very low effort story mode, and gotta break out the credit card to have more stuff to do.

I know that's exactly what they did with Arceus but Arceus released totally complete and it was so new and experimental it felt like "here's a super risky innovative new game and here's a traditional game with SV" and I liked that

But Z-A it's like "ok now GameFreak knows everyone loves the Legends games so hopefully they focus on this--oh okay gen 10 is announced"

Like the $30 postgame added a lot of really cool Pokemon with no Megas they could've easily given Megas to (TINKATON), there's so many buildings they could've given an inside to with stuff to do so the city feels like it has more actual stuff in it, we can't even rollerskate or do a second Rotom swing, and this awesome character cast everyone LOVES is just in an already not the newest game after so little time

I dunno I just wish they would've spent the time leading up to gen 10 to add little things to the game, maybe like a new Mega a month, but.. nopeee. Dead silence and the face of new Pokemon stuff for all year is gonna be graphics bros from Reddit hyping up boring realistic visuals while hating cool stuff like Legends Arceus' cel shading and then bootleg Rowlet bootleg Sobble and "isn't this just the same as all the dog Pokemon in gen 9 why is this a starter you just did this" :(

I look at the uncanny Pragmata child and the PC requirements for Monster Hunter and feel fear in my heart and soul knowing the budget of that stuff could've been used to make like a hundred games that look like Mega Man Legends and they all would've been way better.

Like I've always loved Mario and Luigi and Kirby but lately after the Switch 2 I've begun kinda viewing them the same way I view Mickey Mouse. Less of a character and more of an... empty corporate husk. Standing in a bright colorful world going "HEY KIDS SPEND $70 ON OUR HALF FINISHED GAMES 😄❤️🌟"

Modern Nintendo is so weird because they hardly even make games anymore you occasionally get a drop like a $70 Mario Tennis or a $70 Kirby racer that didn't even bother to add all the Dream Friends (NSO is also required to do anything in these games) but they largely took a backseat and focus more on letting third parties do everything, much like Sony and Microsoft.

I'd like to add by the way I used to be a Nintendrone and I've really turned around and realized just what an awful place I was in and defending

But it's so weird because... what's the point then? If someone wants to play non Nintendo games portably, they'd buy a Steam Deck and get the games for their cheaper prices, not to mention actually being on PC at launch whereas the Switch 2 has to wait a couple months on everything. If they want a big powerful home console, they'd get a PS5 or Xbox. Nintendo's unique point has always been their own games, but they seem to REALLY want to be a third party library with occasional Mario spinoffs here and there

People keep defending Nintendo with all their hearts, but what is there left to even defend? There's nothing there but an empty husk trying to get you to pay $100 for Virtual Boy games and $20-$30 to access the postgames to Donkey Kong and Pokemon Legends Z-A. There's literally nothing there anymore, nothing to defend.

I think Nintendo's greed and lack of care for their IPs have made this awful combination in which we have a Nintendo console that's not about Nintendo games. Combined with the awful bland UI coming back for some reason, we have this console that's just truly.. lifeless, passionless, empty.

Of course Nintendo's always been a giant evil corporation, but I've been playing my 3DS so much lately and it really amazed me how so many of their games were actually so good and passionate. They made all these amazing series, and now they're just kind of... empty and chained to the brand, just to be dangled out to release a small game at top price.

And of course the fans are not allowed to touch these series btw none of that allowed. Been playing Mario fangames lately and it's been incredible. The Pokemon romhack Mariomon is literally better than any Mario game in the past 7 years lol

I wouldn't say I miss Nintendo, moreso I'm just sad they've become such an awful... tar pit. Just so many good ideas drowning in corporate slop. I am so devastated about how awful Star Fox looks and I'm just kind of expecting that to be the standard now. Bad empty games with no care put into them just made to promote The Brand by having characters we love on them. I wanna believe Splatoon Raiders will be good but it's just looking like Salmon Run as a $50 game. And uuugh Pokemon starting to dabble in more realistic visuals too, I loved the Legends games but Winds Waves gives me all the bad vibes in the world.

Sonic Rumble was really fun at first but it's become so overflown with crossovers that it's just hardly a Sonic game anymore you go in it and it's just random IP racing game. And Sonic Crossworlds is really cool and I love Miku but idk. Seeing us finally get Tangle and Whisper in a game but they're voiceless characters sandwiched into a sea of every guest character imaginable feels wrong they deserved a bigger and better start

The issue is Sonic has so many AMAZING characters from across the whole series full of potential, but with Sega we either get a mainline game focused around the same small central cast + one or two new characters who get sidelined shortly after, or we get a spinoff with a huge roster.. that's mostly non Sonic characters, leaving the unused characters on the bench left out in favor of Minecraft Steve or something

Three Houses comes out and is trashed for its visuals on release, but then becomes a MASSIVE widespread success with a huge following and becomes the best selling game in the series. It didn't care one bit about its visuals but instead focused everything on storytelling and the actual game itself and made such an incredible experience still beloved and popular to this day because it prioritized being a good game over being a good Looking game

Engage comes out and is praised for its visuals on release... and then uh.. it existed, certainly afterwards, it did do that I guess. It proceeded to sell worse than the 3DS games despite being a Switch game, lost three CYLs in a row to Three Houses, and if you talk to any fan of this game all they do is complain about Three Houses and don't seem to actually care about Engage at all they just seem to use it as a platform to complain about the other game. Character tags are empty nobody's creating anything they just spend all day complaining. Idk if its spite or desperately trying to restore the status quo and go "NO!! THREE HOUSES VISUALS BAD THEREFORE ITS A BAD GAME WHEREAS ENGAGE VISUALS GOOD SO ITS GOOD" like some sorta IGN employee or something

And like that just kinda perfectly sums it up. The game that didn't care about its visuals was an incredible beloved amazing experience whereas the game that Only cares about its visuals was a pretty funny failure only really liked by super rude and spiteful people who seem to enjoy arguing about video games on Reddit more than actually playing those video games

Don't judge a book by its cover really is an age old lesson that is still exhaustingly ignored

I love Sonic Prime and Boom personally! But I feel Prime would've greatly benefited from Blaze being there while Boom would've done great to have Silver. Or both in each, or mix and match. Would've been great for them to get a big appearance and help the shows stand out

Sonic Prime being all about parallel worlds, I think having Blaze as a character between the parallels like Sonic and Shadow were would've given an interesting perspective as well as a character that understood the situation at hand

Meanwhile for Boom, Silver is so delightful and endearing when he gets to be but he's usually only around for Big Disaster Event, so I think throwing him into basically a slice of life show would've been a really fun thing.
