The Wall isnāt quite what it used to be. Once a place known for being an honorable institution, it has now fallen on difficult times. Undermanned, poorly maintained, and respected by few, many regard it as nothing more than a place to hide criminals, outcasts, and bastards. Changes have been noticed throughout Westeros, however, and with the situation beyond the Wall worsening day by day, the Nightās Watch may soon be called upon again to guard the realm.
To the relief of some, many new men have been arriving at the Wall as of late, either by force or with intent to contribute to the war to come. Those who care to listen know that one day they will need as many men as can be provided to them; squabbles over land and titles would mean very little if there was nothing left to rule over, after all. Paired with the fact that Jon Snow has allowed select wildlings in from beyond the Wall in return for additional defenses, some find hope that the Wall will eventually grow to be more than a shadow of its former self.
There is more than meets the eye when it comes to the residents of Castle Black, however. The men that reside there, although sworn to their oath, have needs of their own. For years, whispers of brothers spending the night with brothers have spread, and though many regard them as jests and foolish remarks, many forget that in most stories there is an element of truth.
When a day of duties comes to a close, the men of the Watch find comfort in each other, seeking out unspoken pleasures and the warmth of others; as far as they are concerned, as long as their realm remains protected, it matters little as to how they choose to spend their own time. With so many issues of their own to handle, it comes as no surprise that they often require time to relieve stress.
