Kitty chortled. She was rude, often saying what she thought. It wasnât that she was unaware of how hurtful her words could be, she just didnât care much. It took people with a thick skin to be in regular contact with the blonde, because she was neither sensitive, nor empathetic. Living as long as she had, she had learned to be entirely and unashamedly herself, social niceties be damned
âI am!â Kitty lifted up the skirts of her dress and gave a couple of excited little jumps, looking child like in her glee. âNow I can come see you all the time!â she exclaimed, as though the possibility that Leo might not want her coming over at all hours of the day, whenever she liked, simply did not exist. The vampire cared little for boundaries and asserted her presence wherever she wanted, invite or no invite, rather much like tonight.
Once the delivery men had been paid and left, Kitty slammed the door behind them and skipped through to the kitchen where she grabbed a bottle of champagne and quite literally a handful of cake, not bothering to cut a tidy slice or utilise a plate.
âNot much has happenedâ Kitty lied, her eyes widening with a look of complete innocence that would have convinced exactly nobody. âI brought some more birdsâ she told him, dancing into the living room where she threw herself onto the couch, the puffy material of her dress ballooning around her, creases in the fabric already soaking up crumbs for her handful of cake. She âAnd I learned about the stock market⌠which by the way is very boring! I regret that!â.
The truth was, Kitty had been particularly bad and was keeping very quiet, which was naturally suspicious behaviour because the blonde was always involved in one dramatic or toxic relationship or another. Her silence on the subject for a whole year was not only weird, but suspiciously so.
âOh, and I made a tiktok account where I post videos of pushing strangers into rivers, or oncoming traffic, or something but it got taken downâ she pouted then, but flashed a devilish grin that could have meant she was joking, but could also have meant she wasnât. âPeople are so sensitive these days!â
One of many things Leo loved about Kitty, she was unapologetically herself. The two of them could be bitches together and neither one of them took offense. âLucky me,â he smirked. âDo I need to leave a sock on my front door knob to indicate not to interrupt if I have company?â He inquired teasingly as he wiggled his eyebrows at her. Loe had a lot to brag about at the moment, Taurus finally asked him out after months of fucking and needless to say, he was excited.
Cake and champagne, tonight was going to be fun. Although, he was sure he would regret all the carb loading in the morning. Leo remained in the living area, just watching his friend make herself at home. As she skipped around, he chuckled as she finally settled down on the soda. Leo himself plopped down on the recliner as he looked over at her. âMore birds?â He questioned, wondering if she was being literal. âOh honey, the stock market is fascinating. Iâm rather insulted you think otherwise since you know I worked on Wall Street when I was in New York.â Hell, the man still dabbled and it helped him stay afloat as he invested part of his savings.
âFuck Kitty, you canât be doing shit like that. You are going to get in trouble.â Vampires have been open to the public for nearly five years now, there were laws about using their powers. But also, there were a lot of hate groups out against them. Thankfully, Leo easily fit in the human world being fae. However, the way vampires and werewolves are would certainly indicate if other supernatural beings might come to the limelight. âYouâre right, how dare people get offended for being nearly killed. How rude?â He remarked sarcastically.
âAnyway, what else has been going on? Are you still breaking hearts? Or has anyone finally tamed you?â He asked, more wanting her to ask him about his own love life. Because, he was about to burst at the seams.
