Finished the Moral Orel Major Arcana (Moral Orcana?) and I wanted to put them all in order. Enjoy!
I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.
Iâve read some things that deal in sad/dark/actually depressing and disturbing subject matter. Iâve loved them and the points they make without endorsing the events portrayed.
Itâs always disappointing to get online and see that the conversation is âX thing shouldnât existâ on the grounds that it made somebody feel badly. It was meant to make you feel that way and itâs normal that it did - itâs okay that you stop reading it or donât finish it but I am BEGGING you to consider why it made you uncomfortable and why the author felt the need (if the answer isnât immediately obvious, as it can be). There isnât shame in something putting you off so badly that you shelve it.
The sterilization of reality is a detriment to all who exist within it. To censor stories with painful themes is to erase the reality that such stories are based in some horrific truth and works to erase the reality that many people have endured.
This trend or whatever we want to call it has gotten so bad that I listened to an entire lecture from somebody about how awful a book was and how it shouldnât exist at all, how the author was a terrible person for concocting it and how it hurt people. When I asked what the book was, this person not only could barely recall the name but HAD NEVER READ IT. I bought the book. I read the book. It accomplished its task beautifully and I found it to be a cathartic experience. I also understood how it could make people so uncomfortable and would never judge anybody for setting it down.
Itâs okay not to like something and distance yourself from it. Remember that those rules apply only to you, though, because they speak only to your own psyche.
Periodic reminder that one of the many roles of fiction is microdosing on big scary feelings so you build resilience, empathy, understanding, and defense against the real thing.

my contribution for this fandom
The Wild Hunt: Belosâ Mask and Hunterâs Role
So⊠Hollow Mind happened. And Iâm not the only one combing for clues and/or further information, because weâve got a creative team thatâs weaving THE TIGHTEST scripts. Even half-frame backgrounds are making sense.
Letâs start with the mask, first carved by Wittebro. Itâs interesting that a Puritan kiddo in the Witch Hunting Era would ask for a horned mask. Isnât that not too Christian?
Itâs SUPER DAMN PAGAN. NATURE-GOD LEVEL PAGAN. But the first context Anglo-Saxonest Phillip Wittebane wouldâve encountered such a figure isnât so divine - Itâs actually Herne The Hunter, a ghost who appears in a less known Shakespeare play from 1587, called âThe Merry Wives of Windsorâ. Quoted from Wikipedia:
An early, pirated version of the play from 1602 includes a different version of this text, which states that the ghost (spelled âHorneâ in this version) was invented to scare children into obedience, and that mothers tell their children the tale of a ghost who walks the [Windsor] Forest in the form of a great stag.
So baby Phillip was an edgelord who wanted a boogeyman mask and then wore it always. Ominous, much? But wait! Where is the aforementioned Nature God in this?

Alrighty Folks! I don't know if anyone pointed this out already, so I may~
TOH SPOILERS!
So! Looking at the newest Episode, we got to have the first look at Eda's Folders- the Folders where all her Pranks and Rule breakings are throughly recorded, showing us a gigantic Pile:
Only that... I am a liar! We did see the Pile before in "Something Ventured, Someone Framed"
But something is different- the Pile is way smaller than it used to be by FAR
Even Eda who used to have a Smug grinning "I thought there'd be more~" reaction at Faust, did seem very surprised when Bump showed it to her, even when she said the exact same Thing.
This little Detail leads me to believe that after Bump took over the Role as Principal- he DEADASS took the Time to sort through Eda's Files, taking out all the Nitpicky/unreasonable Papers from Fausts Time, leaving only the actual Pranks and Schemes that were OUT-OF-LINE
A Detail that has me appreciating and respecting Bump even more than I already did <3
Scientists chained themselves to the White House fence, blocked bridges and occupied buildings. Dozens were arrested.
"... âIâm taking action because I feel desperate,â said U.S. climate scientist Peter Kalmus, who along with several others locked himself to the front door of a JPMorgan Chase building in Los Angeles. A recent report found that the financial giant is the biggest private funder of oil and gas initiatives in the world.
âItâs the 11th hour in terms of Earth breakdown, and I feel terrified for my kids, and terrified for humanity,â Kalmus continued. âWorld leaders are still expanding the fossil fuel industry as fast as they can, but this is insane. The science clearly indicates that everything we hold dear is at risk, including even civilization itself and the wonderful, beautiful, cosmically precious life on this planet. I actually donât get how any scientist who understands this could possibly stay on the sidelines at this point.â ..."
Every single denialist depends on the idea that big brother government and climate scientists are on the same side so how do they even begin to fit this into their delusion?
full offense but the increase in cop shows in recent years being concurrent with the more widespread condemnation of the police is not a fucking coincidence
The show created the idea of the American cop, but racial rebellions shattered that image
Since the inception of television, portrayal of crime and justice has been a central feature on television. In particular, the police are fe
Some history, cop shows exist to make the public like cops.
Remember when I said this and people where mad because I would kiss the ground B99 walked on?
Original detective stories of Sherlock Holmes: depict police as stiff and lacking imagination
Later developments from early 20th century (Agatha Christie and such): similarly, police is stupid and easily tricked by criminals, and smart amateurs have to save the day
around 1930s âhardboiledâ and noir fiction: police are every bit and corrupt and detestable as criminals, and sometimes ARE the gangsters. These are almost entirely realistic, as theyâre often written from actual experiences of real private detectives
1940s, vigilante detective fiction like Batman and the Shadow: where as always, police is portrayed as at worst corrupt and at best useless, and itâs up to brilliant people in masks to solve crimes
1950s: SUDDENLY with Dragnet, police are all brilliant crimefighter heroes who solve all the crimes, and are Always Lawful Good, and criminals are Always Chaotic Evil
onwards: 80-90% of detective fiction is about cops, and usually follows the Dragnet formula (e.g. stuff like CSI)
Thesis: police procedural is a predatory creation that has co-opted the notoriously anti-cop genre of detective fiction, whose primary starting idea was that cops were little more than thugish brutes, unsuited to subtle scientific art of solving crimes, and turned it into shallow propaganda.
Thesis point 2: Scooby Doo are the only unproblematic modern detective stories.
B99 was queer and racially diverse specifically to appeal to the audience who has most reason to be anti-cop. Because cops target us. It was designed to bring us in and indoctrinate us when that image of cops. They could have made an equally queer and racially diverse show thatâs not about cops. They didnât. And such shows when they do get made donât run as long even when they are wildly popular, because they do not fit the agenda of the people with power.
This. B99 is overrated at best and an useful indoctrination tool at worst.
Antis: Don't use the term "purity culture" to describe us! That should only be used for religious trauma!
Also Antis: If even think the wrong things, you're impure! Your writing affects everyone's morality, so it needs to be pure! Proshippers are going to hell! We must convert those poor, lost proshippers who are young enough to change into the correct path!
