Possession and Merging
Possession is, through the eyes of someone who works with demons, a very in-the-heat-of-the-moment thing. Itâs sudden, short-lived, and is usually over just as abruptly as it started.

The Exacting Art of Wand Making
âThe magical rod is the verendum of the magus; it must not even be mentioned in any clear and precise manner; no one should boast of its possession, nor should its consecration ever be transmitted except under the conditions of absolute discretion and confidence.â - Eliphas Levi, âDogme et Rituel de la Haute Magieâ (1856)
It is a matter of fact that properly making a wand is a pain in the ass. It is a rather long process, with lots of detailed steps, none of which can be skipped. It takes more than a month of near daily work, invariably leads to both accidental and purposeful blood spill, not to mention all the mess.
Having lived in London for over a decade I can assure you that there is no Ollivanders in which to purchase a finished wand. And while many many sticks that have been nicely polished, often having had some baubles attached to them, are for sale from a variety of vendors they are not in any practical way a wand.
A wand must be cut by the practitioner themselves directly from the tree, must be worked to shape by the practitionerâs hands, tooled by the practitionerâs blade. It is a very necessary tool in the arsenal of witch and wizard alike, found throughout history in the practice of magic.
On the whole its a bothersome process; messy, meticulous, exacting and often tiresome. But at each point where you would shirk the necessary steps it is only in reminding yourself that the tool you make may save your life that you push on, doing every little bit that is needed to make it as strong as possible. Because like a parachute your life may hang in the balance of your wand having been made in an exacting process that I would personally never trust to something I bought online or in a shop.
The length of the wand varies from culture to culture and use to use. I myself prefer a length that is the distance from oneâs nose when looking straight ahead to the tip of oneâs fingers. Approximately three feet long (four spans) though tailored exactly to the body of its owner. The perfect length for tracing a circle on the ground without bending over.
It so happens that I had long held off on making myself a second hazel wand, my first being in storage in the US and something I had used for decades - though not seen in years. In its stead I have been using a very nice rowan wand I constructed about a year after I arrived in London, which works for most situations and is particularly adept at landscape magics. But then there are some things for which only a hazel wand will do the job properly.
Unfortunately my original hazel, cut from a deep and old wood in the states when I was a young man, has gone missing. Its whereabouts are a mystery, though where it should have been among my library storage materials it was not. Thus I have been slowly getting around to replacing it, and some near future work that needs doing has required my starting in order to finish before the vernal equinox.
So while the blackbird sang me a song of predawn delight I cut the hazel and have begun the process. As it dries I will gather the bits I need, offerings and ointments for its preparation, and by the first day of spring it should be ready for a bit of that old black magic.
Warding meditation
This is about a 20-30min meditation.
Start by focusing yourself on your breath for 5 minutes.
Go back to a forest or other outdoor natural setting. Find your sacred space, your personal clearing in the woods that is only yours. It can be a picnic, a tent or a shack. Youâve decorated it yourself with herbs and a circle of flat, white rocks. There are two bushes there, stinging nettle, for protection. Be sure not to touch it.Â
Sit here and notice your body, where your feet are, how your ankles and knees are bent, where your arms are. Bring your attention to your skin. Weâre going to put a silver metal onto it. Imagine the liquid silver climbing up from your toes, up your legs, across your stomach, and up your back, over your shoulders, and up over your head and face. Let the metal harden like armor, able to move when you move but hard enough to keep out anything. Sit and feel what this changes in yourself and how the outside feels like now.
Now imagine this silver armor expanding like an egg around you and encompassing your aura. It is dark in here, in the silver metal. You can place your palm on the metal surface and feel its smoothness.Â
Expand the silver out further until it is as big as your space, enclosing the picnic and even bigger to gather in the entire clearing which is yours. Let it reach into the trees and form a nice, smooth circle along the ground.
You can barely see the trees here. Letâs make the silver translucent. The hard material changes color, turns to glass, but unbreakable. We can see the trees now, the sun shining down, through the dome. Set your intention to your dome: Â to be safe, to ward against all influences and spirits not in accordance with your own energy, with peace and quiet.
Lastly. letâs change its material. Let that hard dome shift in an instant to a cloud, airy and still there, still filled with your intent, but we are able to pass through it easily now, able to let our thoughts breathe through it.
Finish by creating a little project here. Gather some twigs or rocks or feathers and flowers and create a symbol or sigil of protection with them.
A pentagram, a spiral going counter-clockwise, circles within squares and squares within circles. As you create, send your intention into your symbols and creation.
Your space is now protected. Sit and feel the difference in its energy. Come back with a big inhalation. Ground afterward with a snack.

I was wondering if time of day has any affect on spells? specifically sunset/sunrise? Thanks for your time! I love your blog :)
Thank you!
Ooh dear gods, the planetary hour chart.
There *is* some stuff that you see about each hour being ruled by the planets, and each planet dominates certain aspects. So, for instance, Venus rules matters of love and relationships and all that sappy stuff, right? So, doing a love spell would be best done on an hour that is ruled by Venus. It wouldnât necessarily be specific to sunrise or sunset though - throughout the week cycle each hour is basically different and ruled by a different planet.
[Wikipedia]:
In astrological theory, not only the days of the week, but the hours of the day are dominated by the seven luminaries. If the first hour of a day is dominated by Saturn ( â ), then the second hour is dominated by Jupiter ( â ), the third by Mars ( â ), and so on with the Sun ( â ), Venus ( â ), Mercury ( âżÂ ), and the moon ( â˝Â ), so that the sequence of planets repeats every seven hours. Therefore, the twenty-fifth hour, which is the first hour of the following day, is dominated by the Sun; the forty-ninth hour, which is the first hour of the next day, by the Moon. Thus, if a day is labelled by the planet which dominates its first hour, then Saturnâs day is followed by the Sunâs day, which is followed by the Moonâs day, and so forth, as shown below
And thus [the charts]:
Thatâs kind of a mess, though, and really damn hard to understand, so I found [this one] instead:
Note that the timing starts the hour from sunrise.Â
Space is fucking weird man.
I did also find this post: [Nighttime vs Daytime When Working Spells]. It does that stupid gender polarity thing though, the âfeminineâ vs âmasculineâ energies, if you can push past that⌠Itâs also very heavily Wiccan flavored.
There is also [this image] that speaks about time of day in spellcraft:
DAWNAt dawn, work spells for study, business, employment, healing, and travel. Perform rituals of purification and to bless new beginnings.Â
NOONAt midday use the sunâs full energy while casting spells of strength, courage, protection, success, opportunity, and money issues.
DUSKAt sunset cast spells for release, for letting go of illness, heartbreak, and failure, and to banish misery and pain. Perform rituals for breaking addictions and negative habits.
MIDNIGHTNight is the time to cast spells to enhance self development, for psychic dreams and awareness, divination, spirituality, love, peace, and for the healing of old wounds and releasing stress.
Here is [another image] that goes into the particulars of each hour:
1 a.m. - the first hour of a new day; focus is on the wholeness of self and the banishing of any shadows.
2 a.m. - ridding partnerships or relationships of negativity.
3 a.m. - determination, especially in matters that seem to hold you back.
4 a.m. - improved luck or victory over a specific set of deterring circumstances.
5 a.m. - encouraging growth of the psychic self.
6 a.m. - tenacity and perseverance, especially with something you have been putting off.
7 a.m. - hope, improved insight, and perspective.
8 a.m. - persona change aimed toward the conscious mind.
9 a.m. - assistance for others, focusing on concrete matters.
10 a.m. - improving personal convictions and resolutions.
11 a.m. - energy directed toward transformations which may have seemed inpossible.
12 p.m. - noon;Â strength, courage, protection, success, opportunity, and money issues.
1 p.m. - self-image and personal security.
2 p.m. - building relationships, encouraging understanding and love between people, and sexual symmetry. (Whatever the fuck THAT means.)
3 p.m. - balancing matters of the body, mind, and spirit.
4 p.m. - harmony of elements, sticking to schedules, and magick to accentuate goals.
5 p.m. - insight to the self, and communicating with spiritual guides.
6 p.m. - matters of safety, protection, and completion.Â
7 p.m. - diversity, blending or healing differences, and gentle care towards others.
8 p.m. - leadership, command, and guidance.
9 p.m. - comprehension of universal truth.
10 p.m. - improving the rational mind, sensibility, and clear mindedness.
11 p.m. - coping with drastic change in a positive manner.
12 a.m. - midnight;Â enhance self development, for psychic dreams and awareness, divination, spirituality, love, peace, and for the healing of old wounds and releasing stress.
I donât know the sources of either of those images, as in where they got that information from, but it seems solid enough to me? Use at your discretion, I guess - practice and experiment and see how legit those are.
Also, [Time of Day for Spellcrafting], which says morning is good for awakening, new beginnings, fertility, and life direction; twilight is the time to perform spells for change, receptiveness, parenting, and moving between the worlds; and evening (which is somehow different from twilight?) is best for spells for camaraderie, spirituality, joy, pleasure, family gatherings, and children.
Also also, [Timing Your Spellwork].
Basically Google is my best friend, and I hope this helps you!
â˝Connecting with your crystals or stonesâž
Whenever you bring your crystal/stone home, always make sure you take some steps to get to know your little gem.
Youâll want to clear it of any unwanted/negative energy. Depending on where you got it, a lot of hands most likely touched it transferring their energy into the stone./crystal.
Get to know your stone, hold it, close your eyes, and feel the energy of the individual stone. Meditate even!(:
Another way to incorporate this relationship with your life is by placing them somewhere within your living space. Try to make them in view because the more you notice your stone/crystal, the more you remember them and that grows the connection.
And last, donât forget to carry those stones with you, whether you are wearing them on a necklace or bracelet or maybe even in your pocket! But beware of the things in your pocket that may hurt or scratch your stone.
â Crystals to cleanse the home!â
Hi guys, here is a quick post on crystals to aid in cleansing the home.
Rose QuartzÂ
Rose quartz is often considered a love stone or a healing stone. Keeping a large piece of rose quartz in your bedroom or a room you are frequently in should help promote a love and nurturing atmosphere and environment helping negate negative energy! Itâll also help maintain happiness and love in your home. Remember to cleanse the stone with sage or tea, and they charge it with ârunningâ rose water. Do this as you see fit! (Wilde also finds it helpful if you leave it outside in a salt circle during the full moon)
Smokey Quartz
Smokey quartz is a great general cleansing crystal, this stone will remove dense energies and will replace it with a clear, clean and an uplifting energy! Theyâre very grounding and protective crystals and will help clear anxieties or negativeness that may occur in the home! Cleanse and charge in moonlight.
Black Obsidian
This is an excellent protection stone, this stone works by absorbing negative energies. It helps release tension and disharmony, allowing you home to be less tense and allowing less arguments to take place (hopefully)! We recommend you keep two pieces on each side of your front door to prevent any negative energies from coming into your home. Â Be sure to cleanse and charge it in moonlight!
Amethyst
This crystal absorbs negative energy and helps create a tranquil and happy atmosphere. Place an Amethyst cluster in rooms you frequent for this effect, it also helps you sleep better if you keep it in your bedroom! Cleanse and charge in moonlight, too!
If you donât own crystals, donât worry! Sigils often have some of the same effects as them. As well as this, salt lamps often cover some of the properties of the stones too, and are relatively cheap to buy! Blessed be! -Wilde and Quinn
Spell to get over someone
This is for anyone who needs this. I recently went through something with someone and couldnât seem to get over them no matter how hard I tried, until I did this spell from The Love Magic Book by Gillian Kemp (which is an amazing book, all of her work is). Itâs simple and really powerful. âOnions are ruled by the planet Mars and are said to resemble the cosmos. The core is the earth and the heart is the moon.â This spell is best done on a waning moon, since the waning moon takes things (i.e. heartbreak, bitterness, negativity, etc.) away while the waxing moon brings things (i.e. new love, energy, etc.)
Materials:
⢠1 blue candle
⢠1 raw onion
⢠large saucer or plate
⢠Water
⢠Pot
1. Light a blue candle someplace you will not be disturbed.
2. Sitting in front of the candle, take the onion and gently peel away each layer, placing the pieces on a saucer in front of the candle. If the onion makes you cry, let itâ its purging you of pent up emotions and negativity.
3. Once you are done peeling away the onion pieces and they are all on the saucer, leave them there and let the candle burn for 1 hour and then snuff it out.
4. Boil all of the onion pieces in a pot until the water turns yellow, then throw out the water and onion pieces somewhere outside, preferably as far away on your property as possible. Alternatively, throw out the water and bury the onion pieces. As they rot and decompose in the earth, your heartache will ease and you will move on.
What is a Hex, really? A History Lesson
Most of the time looking on tumblr you find the answer to the above question being that it is a form of dark magick, with an intensity somewhere between a jinx and a curse. However history tells a different story.
All too often, a hex in magical workings is mistaken for curse. A curse is very specific. It refers to a type of magic that is intended to cause misfortune or harm to another person or situation. The definition of a hex is far broader than this.
The entomology of the word Hex is Germanic in origin, coming from Hexe which was most commonly in use between 1820-1830 and means Witch. To hex, at its most basic, is to perform witchcraft with the intent to bewitch a person or situation, and can be for either good or ill.
One of the earliest uses of the word hex was in relation to Dutch Hex Signs, which could be compared to a form of painted prayer. The Hex sign was often painted onto barns, and used for the purpose of warding the building and its occupants against black witchcraft and evil spirits.
It is clear then that in relation to cursing, with which it is so often compared, Hex is a much broader umbrella term regarding manipulation magic, under which the sub category of cursing may fall if it involves manipulation of a person rather than the usual sending of negative energies to influence a personâs life. But generally a curse is not a type of hex at all.
These negative connotations concerning the word hex would have come about due to the association of the Christian church with witchcraft and the labelling of all magic as evil and witches being aligned with the devil. If a Hexe referred to magic performed by a witch, then the natural progression of that time would have been to label all hexes as evil curses, and so the erroneous link between hexes and curses began.
However to solely concentrate on the mistaken link between curses and hexes would be to do the term a disservice. The oldest use of the word Hexe, comes from 1720 in relation to the word Haegse which referred to a Wise Woman, and in turn originated from the word Hygia which directly translates to the modern equivalent of Wisdom.
So we see this very interesting development of the word we see today which had its origin in the practice of wisdom and nothing to do with manipulation at all. The Haegse (which in a fascinating turn also developed into the English word Hag and also has modern negative connotations) was used for women who were Soothsayers and in both Germanic and Celtic traditions were considered the most revered women in society.
With the later development of Hexe, we see the emergence of the Hexenmeister which translates into Hex Worker or Hex Master. This was a solely healing role.
The Hexenmeister was a practitioner who utilised hands free healing, using earth wisdom to heal physical ailments and those of a more spiritual nature. This was the role of the traditional folk healer, a benevolent force in any Germanic village.
Seeing this rich history of the term Hexe only reinforces the subsequent tragedy of the demonization of people who were connected with the wisdom of the earth and the healing that came from such knowledge.
Hag, Crone, Witch, Hex and many other words carry heavy negative associations because of the spread of fear and ignorance through the Burning Times. As modern practitioners of witchcraft an onus is placed on us to embrace our robust history and shine new light on the misconceptions. Our history is beautiful and the more we learn, the more we can shed light on our variegated past.

Jinx* chant
Just a simple little chant I use when I want Karma to do her job a wee bit faster.

đ Spell of Shattered Sight đ
inspired by Once Upon A Time, a curse that makes a person only see the most ugly aspects of themselves and others around them
â[The Nordic King] was so devastated he decided his kingdom should share his pain. So he spent years harnessing dark magic, used it on the mirror and cast a spell over his entire kingdom. It made his subjects see only the worst in the ones they loved. And they turned on each other, destroying themselves.â
đ gather: a mirror, something to write on glass, a taglock, rose petals, a candle, a fire-safe surface, and a cloth.
đ on the mirror, draw an eye.Â
đ add sigils for specific things you want the person to notice.
đ place the taglock on top of the mirror.Â
đ burn the rose petals to ash.
đ scatter the cooled ash over the mirrorâs surface.Â
đ cover with a cloth, do not look at the mirror after this.Â
đ to remove the spell, clean the mirror off without looking at it directly.
đ What Iâve Learned About Curses đ
As the title states, this is what Iâve learned. It is all based on my experiences, opinions, and personal knowledge. Most of it comes from my grimoire. What Is A Curse? A curse is a type of spell a person can cast on you. It can cause misfortune, health issues, financial issues, relationship issues, even in some cases death. What About Hexes & Jinxes? I also want to define hexes & jinxes before we get too into this. ⢠Jinxes ⢠Temporary, can last hours, are just meant to cause a bit of bad lack but nothing too serious, are for a bit of fun or to teach someone a simple lesson. ⢠Hexes ⢠Also temporary, but have greater effects, theyâre a lot more curse like in that they can teach more vital lessons and can cause things like sickness. ⢠Curses ⢠Permanent, can cause death, theyâre for the worst, nastiest people, and the most intense situations. In other words, theyâre all negative spells. Just 3 different levels of them. The main difference is curses are permanent, the others are not, and a jinx certainly wouldnât cause death or permanently effect someones well-being. Are They Okay? I used to wonder this myself and have seen TONS of people ask it. Itâs a matter of morality. I canât tell you what to believe or think. Itâs about you and your path. How Do I Know If Iâm Cursed? There are symptoms, Iâll go over all the ones Iâm aware of. ⢠Bad Luck/Misfortune ⢠Lack of motivation ⢠Nightmares ⢠Bad Omens ⢠Personal items going missing ⢠Plants dying ⢠Fatigue ⢠Health issues/sickness ⢠Financial issues All and any of these things can happen, they will come along suddenly and have no other explanation other than a curse. How To Test If Youâre Cursed Okay, youâve identified youâve got some of the symptoms, you canât find any other reason or suspect someone specific has cursed you. The next step is testing to be sure. Here are my personal favorite ways to test for curses. The Egg Test Break an egg, what you find inside will give you insight. ⢠Blood ⢠Youâre cursed ⢠⢠White clots/chunks ⢠There is no curse, but there is something clotting you or your life up ⢠⢠Broken yolk ⢠There is no curse, but you have inner turmoil and need to work on it ⢠Divination Test Ask whatever forms of divination you may have if youâre cursed. Deity Test I donât do deity work, but I also imagine itâd be an option to ask your deities if youâre cursed. What To Do Next? Alright, so youâve looked at the symptoms, theyâre unusual for you. You did the tests, youâve come to conclusion youâre cursed. Now what? ⢠Cleansing Cleansing is one of the foundations of witchcraft, use your favorite forms of cleansing to cleanse your space. This is a default for many witchy issues or situations anyways. But itâs a good reminder. ⢠Crystals Use crystals as sources of positivity, luck, healing. To combat the symptoms of the curse. Also any crystals you can keep near you for protection will help too. ⢠Salt bath This a method of cleansing yourself, it may get the curse off of you. It may also help if you found something unusual in your egg (that is if you did the egg test). ⢠Warding This is another thing thatâs very common and simple, but effective, ward yourself and your space to make sure nothing else thatâs bad or unwanted gets in. ⢠ Deities You could ask your deities to help remove the curse or ask them what you should do about it. ⢠Other witches Ask other more experienced witches what their experiences with curses are and they they recommend, get some feedback. Posts like this are nice but so is talking to someone and hearing their experiences! Hereâs some types of spells you could use to help you! Spells ⢠Return to sender spell ⢠Protection spell ⢠Remove curse spell (of course) Edited 6/24/2019 Iâm sure Iâll add more to this in the future. I hope someone learned something! Enjoy! Have a lovely day (right after I just went on about curses and death for quite a while) đ
The Great Goddess Hecate (Hekate)
Who is Hecate? She is the Goddess of Witchcraft, Necromancy, Ghosts, Magic, and, in some instances, the Night, Darkness, The Mist, and Moon. For some She is also the goddess of motherhood, protection, and the sea. She is a Hellenic deity, born of the Titans Asteria and Perses. Thereâs a few beliefs circling around Her being a crone goddess or a Triple Goddess, but those are modern and neopagan beliefsâwhich She predates. I also consider Her to be a part of the Chthonic deities.
Symbology: Black dogs, Wolves, Keys, Torches, Flames, Torches, Crossroads, Serpents, Daggers, Birds of Prey (crows, ravens, owls), the Moon, witchcraft tools (such as cauldrons, tarot, athames)
Offerings & Devotional Acts for Her:
Figurines of any of Her symbols
keys, skeleton keys, lockets
fire witchcraft and candles, flames, matchsticks
dedicating any lunar or symbolic jewelry to Her
black/dark crystals such as obsidian and onyx
nocturnal animal imagery
black/cool colored glitter
baneful/poisonous herbs and plants
pomegranates/berries (She seems to really like blackberries)
dark blend wines
honey, cinnamon, poppy seeds, chocolates (dark)
mugwort, lavender, roses, jasmine, dragonâs blood
bones and feathers from birds of prey (please check your local laws about obtaining these)
pinpricks of blood (please DO NOT attempt this if you struggle with self harm/etc, blood magic is particularly strong and isnât for everyone. She will understand if you cannot offer that to her).
Taking midnight walks, setting up altars and rituals at crossroads, paying respects to the dead and practicing your craft in a cemeteryÂ
Any playlists, poems, literature, whether it be your own or just a piece you associate with Her, also make wonderful offerings.Â
Lunar Influences & Connections: Reaching out to Hecate tends to work best at night, and really any time the moon is at itâs peak. The Witching Hours, midnight to 3A.M., during strong lunar influences (blue moons, blood moons, eclipses, new moons, etc) all hold strong bonds with Hecate. Also, any time it is particularly foggy or your surroundings are covered in a mist is a good time to try to connect with Her.
Disclaimer: These are correspondences that have been gathered through my personal experiences working through my craft with Her. If you find She responds better to different offerings/during different times, by all means, stick to it! Your bond with Her is your own and should be cultivated in whichever way works best for you and Her. Thank You!
