βBABY WE'RE THE NEW ROMANTICS, HEARTBREAK IS OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM SO WE SING IT PROUDLY.β
New York, 1984: the greatest year of all time to party all day and all night. Leon Green was in his 20s, he was living in the city and pursuing his dream of becoming a poet, screen writer or actor. He was neck deep in the arts, broke as hell and in love with almost everyone he'd met on the stage or in the dark of a club. Leon was (and still is) a hopeless romantic. He loves love, he could shout from the rooftops about it, sing from the top of his lungs. More often than not, he was waxing poetic about it over the cheapest bottle of wine they had. It was a time of possibility and taking chances. Leon was alive, but not for long.
When Leon saw Alex Andrews and Suzy Compton together in the club, his heart stopped. They were both so beautiful. Magnetic. Leon couldn't help feeling drawn in like a moth to the flame. The night would go on and it had been the most fun he'd had yet. Alex had left Suzy and Leon alone for a while, long enough for him to fall in love and who wouldn't? He thought Suzy was just... you know, into biting, until the pain hit. It didn't last long, though. Between the high and her sharp teeth, Leon barely remembered a thing before he passed out. Suzy thought he was dead (oops!) but she was wrong.
Leon had survived hellish hangovers before but this was something else. Of course, it didn't take long for him to realise that something had happened to him last night. Suzy was gone and he was starving. It wasn't until he'd sunk his own fangs into someone else's neck that he realised what had happened to him. Leon was open-minded and well, there was no denying the blood on his hands. He was insatiable, for a while. He wanted more, he wanted to fill up on love and attention, but he never could. Because no matter how many lovers came and went, they could never fill the hole that Suzanna Compton had left behind.
Additional Information β
Leon spent decades trying to find Suzy again. It felt like he was always just missing her and even if he did find her, what would he say? How could he possibly express every feeling he had wrestled with since being turned? Along the way, he met other vampires. David Perry was a particularly notable affair.
While he had quieter spells over the years, he still liked the clubs. In New York, Cal's Club became a supernatural hot spot that Leon couldn't resist. Werewolves, vampires, warlocks... unsuspecting and beautiful humans like Stella Bell (now there was someone you could write poems about)... everyone was welcome. No Suzy though.
And then, finally, Leon ran into Clary Liu. They ended up talking, a lot and she told him all about Havensdale Valley. That's where Suzy was, now. Leon knew he had to get in there, no matter what. It turned out agreeing to join whoever was in charge was his ticket in. Now, he just needs to find her.
