Olavinlinna Castle is a medieval fortress located in Savonlinna, Finland. It was founded in 1475 by the Swedish knight Erik Axelsson Tott to defend the region against eastern threats. Built on a small rocky island, the castle played an important role in conflicts between Sweden and Russia. Today, Olavinlinna is one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Northern Europe and is a popular historical site and cultural venue.
