Theorycrafting: Lotus, Wally, and Childhood Trauma
JSC and Tennocon woke us up and put us back into the Warframe mood because this is lookin like A LOTUS CENTRIC QUEST BABYYYYYYYY. i'm gonna use this post to consolidate our thoughts and predictions, feel free to chat about it :3
1. Potential Lotus and Wally Alliance
Based on the key art, Lotus's severed hand and Wally's severed finger highlights the fact that they both share common themes of being victims of childhood abuse*.
Yes: Wally wants to hurt Space Mom. I'm sure she knows this too. And yet, in this Key Art, she's still reaching out to it.
While both Space Mom and Albrecht want to end the Indifference's destruction, Albrecht is doing it the wrong way by trying to prevent the Orokin from ever existing: timetravelling and running away while thinking he's just taking responsibility to do "the right thing"
Whereas The Lotus, a woman who has suffered through unbearable trauma across generations, has accepted her pain, and refuses to allow anyone to take her trauma away from her.
Even though Wally intends to hurt the Lotus in order to catch the Operator, I think there's reason enough for Wally to ally with Lotus instead, because they both share the goal of restraining Albrecht. And if there's anyone capable of teaching the Indifferent victim of abuse how to love, it's gotta be the victim of abuse who's had her autonomy stolen from her since birth.
2. Narmer continuation: Erra's role in TNW + Natah's Childhood
This icon is like, a promise yeah. That we're going back to Narmer, Pazuul and the Archons plotline. In relation to the theme of childhood trauma, I think it's possible that we find out here how b*llas resurrected erra and in extension, "Natah" in The Sacrifice - The New War
After JSC's important reveal that Natah traded her memories to Wally to put Lua in the Void... This has essentially rendered her original childhood memories inaccessible. As a result, when b*llas forced Lotus' reversion to Natah, it failed. Natah did not remember who she was before Margulis, and she could not truly return to her OG Natah state that b*llas' needed for his entire New War plan to work.
Cue Erra's resurrection: His memories of Natah acted as a crutch. By putting Erra's memories of Natah inside her husk, it produced the Dissociated, Loosely Cognizant Natah we saw in the Chimera Prologue, Operation Scarlet Spear, and The New War.
We have yet to see Natah in her childhood, and she has no means of recovering her childhood memories until she confronts Tau, Pazuul, and Wally.
3. Childhood Trauma, Abuse, and Forgiveness
JS and JSC focus on infant babies and fatherhood, trying to do the right thing for your children, this highlights something Natah never got: the chance to be a child.
She was born for war, as a spy. She had a predetermined destiny and was regaled as her kind's savior. She wasn't born to be a child, she was born as a weapon.
*To link back to the Tennocon 2026 key art above, the childhood trauma angle can also be supported by Wally's appearance as "young Albrecht" in this key art. Just as Natah's childhood was determined by her family, Wally's "childhood" was determined by its fateful meeting with Albrecht.
I've been theorizing that The Void War Saga's core message is something along the lines of: don't try to change the past, there's always a way to heal. to live with your pain. to find love and joy even in desolation. And importantly: that the answer to living with pain doesn't always have to be pure vengeance, nor pure forgiveness.
Margulis didn't forgive ballas. I doubt Natah will forgive Erra. I think the Lotus system have reasons to forgive Hunhow for the pain he gave Natah, especially after the events of TNW and JSC. And if DE writes it right, there could be reasons for Lotus to forgive, or at least sympathize with Wally because of their shared childhood traumas.
If Lotus can form a meaningful, genuine bond with Wally, that'll be perfect. Lotus can teach Wally that there's a way to be whole, and a way to feel love and be loved in a way that isn't superficial (like how albrecht thinks forcing drifter into romantasies will buy them time by generating more love in the world), and Lotus and Wally could be a formidable alliance that makes sense for the longevity of Warframe.
Albrecht may want to prevent the Orokin from ever existing and discovering the Void, but that'll kill Everyone we know. The Tenno, the Lotus, the Ostron, Solaris, Entrati family, etc, etc
Lotus sympathizing with Wally and merging with the Void, becoming ever more similar to her beloved Tenno... Maybe this is how we get the Triple Faced Goddess: The Sentient Mother with the Void in her heart.
4. Tennocon 2026's tagline: Old wounds are not so easily healed
I really really hope this is a Lotus-centric quest where we revisit her traumas and her childhood. We'd love to be able to confirm most of her hazy lore points that's been accumulating for the past 13 years. im so happy how much lotus stuff we're getting, from the glyphs to the key art to the Implications. i may never have to ask DE for anything ever again once this update releases. When we say Lotus is the most important part of Warframe's narrative we are not kidding. She is thematically sound, relevant, and resonant to the Tenno and the entire Game. She MUST have narrative presence.
I want Wally to try to torture Lotus into giving herself and her children up, only to ally with her and the Tenno because Lotus was capable of forming a genuine bond with it
Also I think a Wally mimicking Natah/Margulis/Lotus cutscene would be sexy asfuck and we'll get to tick off my bingo card item "selfcest on levels never before seen".
ok bybye we love u lotus πππππ
