Oh. She had been sitting at her desk for hours, hadnât she? She had been so fixated on editing that she hadnât remembered to even take care of herself, and it was already getting very late.
Kawano sighed shakily, carding her own hair behind her ear as she set her headphones down, stood from her chair and looked at the blonde.
âMmh...Yeah, I probably should. Sorry, I just got...â She gestured uselessly, trying to find the words. âWrapped up.â Thatâll do. âDo you...wanna go somewhere? I donât mind paying for us both.â

ultimaterealmofchaosâ:
Ah, so that was the question. Some sort of concern about Junkoâs well-being⌠misguided concern, most definitely, but still concern. How sweet⌠how ridiculous. Anyone who knew Junko knew that she was fine. Way more than fine, even, but stillâŚ
Ah well. She was new to her. That was all.
Junko offered her best, friendliest grin, giving a little laugh. âTotally appreciate the concern, but, like, Iâm the last girl you need to worry about! Luckily for me, my jobâs super easy, and itâs fun, too! But I guess thatâs what happens when youâre a natural, right?â
She laughed again, then surveyed the other girl for a moment. âBesides, shouldnât you, like, be worried more about yourself? All I do is stand there while people take pictures of me. You actually do stuff, right?â
Far from being totally reassured, Kawano seems much more like sheâs embarrassed now. It wasnât often that someone like her would go out of her way to convey true concern, at least -- not outwardly. To have it brushed off, well -- it wasnât bad per say, but it did make her feel a bit foolish. She flusters, breaks the already tenuous eye contact she has to glance off.
âAh-- I mean, I guess thatâs fair...Some take to things easier than others, that makes sense.â Itâs difficult to read the blonde, truly. In words alone, her statement could almost be misconstrued as self deprecation. âItâs not hard to do what I do.â But it also carries a weight of slight arrogance, despite the implication that she doesnât do anything. Itâs odd to see those sentiments paired up with one another.
âI...guess so? I mean, I donât think itâs anything too special, but...â Oh geez, now sheâs starting to sound hypocritical. Easy to worry about others while neglecting yourself, isnât it?
lainzworldâ:
Junko had listened very closely, she seemed genuinely interested in Kawanoâs words. And she was, she didnât start a conversation for nothing after all, she just needs to make sure Kawano doesnât get the wrong idea or think that Junko wasnât interested. A lot of people seem to think that Junko wouldnât care for what theyâre saying.
âNo worries!â She waved her hand, âIâm the one who asked about it after all! So like, a conversation without words, yeah? Thatâs soo cool!! I never actually realized that much went into movie making!â She moved around excitedly, âSo movies mean that much, like if you wanted to make all these people have the same or a certain idea youâd just make your movie like that? Or is it more complicated?â Junko seemed to talk with her hands a lot.
She tilted her head, âActuallyâŚwhat was your favorite movie youâve ever produced? We should totally meet up sometime and watch it together!!â She bounced in her seat, her formally made pigtails getting a little messy, âOf course, if you want to, Iâm not like, the kind of person to pressure people into things, y'know? I hate creeps like thatâ
That was only a half lie from Junko, she did run into a lot of creeps from the industry like that. At the start she had to just accept it since she was a smaller star then, just starting out. But now she can basically just get them fired no problem, and thank god for that.Â
Junko shivered slightly, the cold of the outside finally catching up to her. With her wearing clothes that hardly suited the weather, she supposed she shouldnât have been too surprised, especially considering they were slightly revealing.
Well, there certainly was precedent for that. She pressed a hand to her chin thoughtfully, seems as if sheâs considering the blondeâs words.
âMmh. It can be done...but it depends on the subtlety or...heavy-handedness of the delivery, I guess, if that makes sense? I guess youâd usually call something super straightforward like that propaganda, depending on the intent. But propaganda can masquerade pretty well as art, or within art, if the creator wants it to. I donât tend to think of myself as...that overt, I just want to cause discussion, more than I want to make people see things my way...but it can definitely get complicated.â She nods.
Then she blinks. Her favorite film sheâs made? Well, it definitely wasnât the one sheâd made about the academy. It had its accolades, of course, and she was still proud of the end-product - but she was the most critical of her own work, and she had worried whether it seemed more congratulatory at times than impartial toward the institution (especially now that she knew more about its inner workings). If she were to think of something that she thought she did better at handling...
âOh. Uhm...I guess it might have been the short documentary I made about rural folklore. Its...fall out of prominence is interesting to me, because despite that it still has a lot of residual effects on the way a lot of us view or do certain things, even in bigger cities. Have you ever read Tono Monogatari --? Err, well-- a-anyway. I...think thatâd be nice, actually.â She hardly ever hung out with anyone her own age, after all.
âOh-- uhm...I guess itâs pretty cold, huh? You can borrow my hoodie, if you want? Iâve still got long sleeves under this...â

Perhaps her question had been taken a tad more...literally than she had in mind. She was aware of the blondeâs fortitude when it came to her field -- practically everyone with an awareness of popular culture at the moment knew that much. But Kawano was more interested in what lay...underneath. She had no ill opinion of Junko Enoshima herself, but the industry she was mired within? Well, letâs just say the director was fairly cognizant of its flaws.
â...I know that. I mean...of course, right? Itâs obvious that youâre good at what you do. I just mean...I hope it doesnât rob you of anything in the meanwhile. Everyone deserves time to make the most of their youth, right?âÂ
They werenât in the same class, but she still often worried about the way those of their ilk were put on pedestals. They were expected great things from, and that often meant sacrificing the opportunity to simply enjoy living while they could. They were already expected, in most cases, to slave away for their careers after graduation - so she took no pleasure in imagining the process had already started for some, when they should be allowed to relax for now, if never again.

lainzworldâ:
Junko smiled once more, âThe snowstorm, silly!!â She lets out a loud high pitched laugh, âIâm kidding!! I had a photoshoot to do but I didnât have any friends to drive meâ She lets out a sigh, blowing a few strands of hair that landed in front of her face, âPlus, the company wasnât gonna give me a ride but still required me to come, thatâs so dumb, right? Like how are you going to say I have to come but then not give me a ride, like, whatâs the point!â Junko wasnât entirely lying about that, she did have a photoshoot she had to get to. But they did offer her a ride. And she didnât bother asking anyone else for a ride to the photoshoot either, she had a very specific reason for coming onto this bus. She pulled strings and figured out Kawano needed to go film something, on this specific day, where a blizzard would go through the city. Junko knew only one bus was crazy enough to drive through the harsh winds, and so she had made sure she had a photoshoot this day, so she can use that as an excuse to get on the bus. She shifted in her seat, so that she completely faced Kawano, Junko folded her arms on top of the seat, resting her head on her arms, âKawano MizukiâŚYouâre that girl who made the documentary about the school history right?! Oh my gosh I loved that film sooo much!â She grinned, âLike, normally Iâm not too into history, but your film actually made it interesting, like I couldnât stop watching! I probably watched it a hundred timesâ She giggled, âSo, youâre a director? Thatâs super cool, is it ever fun to film things? Whatâs it like?â
Of course, as naturally as those lies came to the model, itâs no surprise that they whiz right past Kawano. She doesnât detect any insincerity in those words at all, so the logic tracks, and she canât recognize any of the scheming that lay underneath the surface. Instead, she seems...flustered? Maybe thatâs not entirely correct, but itâs close. Sheâs embarrassed to be lavished with such direct praise. The words of critics, magazine columnists...those didnât really fire her up anymore. Film critics, in fact, were some of the worst people she had ever had the displeasure of interacting with. She didnât really care about their praise, no matter how abundant it was. The idea of her films resonating with an actual, human audience, though? Thatâs what mattered.
Sure, Junko Enoshima wasnât exactly what you would call commonfolk. She was just as prestigious and popular as any film critic -- if not much more, but she still felt as though she were...down to Earth, by Kawanoâs estimation. She felt more like an actual person with an internality that she could appreciate, and whose words were straightforward enough not to seem like simple flattery. Perhaps that, combined with the admission that sheâd watched Kawanoâs work so many times, is a good explanation for why she felt so presently sheepish.
âAh-- t-thank you. I...wouldnât have imagined it would be that captivating, but...â She trails off, her fingers twiddling idly in her lap as she tried to politely maintain eye contact. There was a certain...pressure to that, though. She wasnât very good at it.
âItâs...challenging. When I film something I guess itâs like...Iâm trying to have a conversation without words, right? Iâm trying to...plant some kind of idea, or message to the person watching...but I canât just sit down in front of the camera and spell it out, because thatâd just be annoying...â She wasnât the type to stand on a soapbox, after all.
âSo...itâs always important to find ways to get what I want to say across. And pictures sometimes speak louder than a thousand words...so...â Yeah, sheâs not maintaining that eye contact. âAgh-- s-sorry, I donât meant to ramble.â
@lainzworldâ ; continued .
Kawano wasnât usually fond of public transport, especially not in situations like this. Unfortunately, she had a shoot scheduled and had very little in the way of other options to get where she needed to go. One could imagine the sense of impending dread and listlessness that she felt, knowing she would be stuck waiting here on the road until something completely out of her control had subsided.
Perhaps itâs that worry that consumed her thoughts so thoroughly that she hadnât noticed the other girlâs approach until she was spoken to.
âEh--? Oh, uh...sorry. Spaced out there, for a second.â She fumbles, trying to muster an appropriate response. Part of her, upon receiving a name, had wanted to narrow her eyes. Well, duh. Of course youâre Junko Enoshima -- is what she thought. Thereâs no way anyone that was tapped into the modern pop-culture couldnât know who she was. She was a startlingly popular model, and her ironclad sense of irreverent style, combined with her rebellious aesthetic made her the ire of traditionalists and idol of young people the country over. She couldnât say she wasnât a bit intimidated to be speaking to the girl, herself.
âKawano. Er-- Mizuki...The uhm, Super High School Level Director.â Sheâs really searching her brain for any kind of conversational skills she can muster. She doesnât want to be boring. âWhat...brings you here, Enoshima-san?â
Aside from the snowstorm, that is.

RULES .
Please donât godmod.
My blog is multiship. Each ship takes place in a separate timeline, with none overlapping.
I ship with chemistry.
I will not ship Kawano with V3 characters in any other setting than the Hopeâs Peak verse, and for reasons I canât disclose (due to spoilers, if I ever actually write her story in full, lol) there are a few V3 characters in particular I am not comfortable shipping her with (Iâll tell you if you have concerns!)
My blog is private, so I will only interact with mutual followers.
Please do not reblog my threads if youâre not involved in them.
Smut is not a priority on this blog, but I donât mind it. It will only be participated in with muses and muns who are 18+. It will be tagged as âns4wâ and put under a readmore.
I can be slow sometimes, due to life priorities and work. Donât feel disheartened if I donât get back to you quickly or drop something, you can always interact with me again.
Unprompted asks are a-okay.
The munâs name is Marcie, and my pronouns are she/her! Please refer to me this way.
Any rules may be added here or edited as I wish.
NAME: KAWANO MIZUKI | AGE: 19 | GENDER: TRANS GIRL (SHE/HER) | ORIENTATION: BISEXUAL | TALENT: SUPER HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL DIRECTOR | HAIR COLOR: BLACK | EYE COLOR: PURPLE | HEIGHT: 5â˛4âłÂ | WEIGHT: 125 lb
PERSONALITY // Despite being seemingly stoic, Kawano is a very passionate girl who takes great interest in the art of filmmaking (the only thing that, when discussed, tends to rouse her interest enough to shake off her usual bored seeming demeanor). She believes in the power of film to preserve history, and prevent the mistakes of the past from being repeated. She can sometimes be temperamental or impatient, but tends to avoid involving herself in affairs that would provoke these emotions. Sheâs decently reclusive, but wonât necessarily pull away from social settings if she is asked to join in, and isnât opposed to making friends so long as they can tolerate her understated personality. Sheâs a bit self conscious about speaking too much when she does, which is what informs her reluctance to begin.
BACKGROUND // Kawano was raised by three parents (one man and two women), and was the child of one of those women - having a half-brother from the other woman, as well. Though many assumed her home life was unconventional, her parents were all very kind people who supported her interests, and she resented anyone who spoke poorly of them for having a different type of relationship than most other families. In her central continuity, Hopeâs Peak Academy does not exist, and she is merely a talented upcoming director, who is interested in making documentary films. However, upon going to university, she eventually awakens with a gap in her memory, and memories of her home life left ambiguous to her, as she becomes part of a retooled Danganronpa reality show for the modern, streaming age.
In the Hopeâs Peak Universe, her upbringing is similar, though her parents are different. She is scouted by Hopeâs Peak after her submission to a film contest - a documentary about the history of the school itself. Eventually, she is recruited to produce promotional materials for enrollment, but becomes suspicious of the schoolâs steering committee in the leadup to The Biggest Most Tragic Event In Human History, and abandons the school to go into hiding, after the incident revolving around the Student Council Massacre and the mysterious, unidentified person known as Izuru Kamukura.
After this point, she takes shelter within a lower branch of the Future Foundation, and spends her time trying to craft a documentary of the Tragedyâs horrors, hoping to use it to dissuade future generations from repeating the Academyâs mistakes when society is finally rebuilt.
