“Must come in handy.” She teased, a light laugh falling from her lips. “Here.” She pointed to the spot on her forearm she’d decided on, tracing a line across her skin. “I want the blank stripe to be like, right here.”

Lennox nodded and set it up. Peeling it away for her to take a look. “Tell me what you think of that?”

“I don’t know.” He admitted, biting the inside of his cheek as he thought. “I’ve never wanted to fix anything before, I don’t know what to do.” Sebastian had always just left a wake of what he assumed were broken hearts, broken relationships, burned bridges. He had never looked back to see. He was lost.

“I’d start with ‘I’m sorry’“ Lennox offered, drinking his drink. “It’s worked for me.” 

“Yeah, I can. It’s fucking dragging by.” He scowled, holding still while Lennox affixed the paper to his skin and started transferring it. “It sucks, people are actually sober like, all the time? And they don’t go crazy?”

“Fucking right? Marnie had wine last night with dinner and I almost broke man and I hate wine.” He laughed. “I didn’t go cold turkey when I cut back before. I don’t know how you are doing it man.” 

“Because I’m missing an ingredient, and I don’t know where I can get it from,” she pouted slightly, her plans not usually so difficult to achieve.

“Well what the heck is it? Maybe I can help. I can be of use sometimes.” He chuckled, amused by her attitude honestly. 

“No.” He replied softly, swallowing around a lump in his throat. “Not since I went to the hospital. I don’t -” Sebastian cut himself off, trying to think of what he meant. “I can’t ask her to take me back until I know I’m worthy of a second chance.” He nodded, tracing a line across his upper arm. “Kind of like this.” He moved his tank top out of the way to trace it down and around his chest tattoo.

Lennox nodded and got to work making the trace to place it. “You’ve been doing a hell of a job man. It’s been a month. Can you believe that?” He said as he turned back around with the trace and lined it up.

“You didn’t?” Sebastian raised his eyebrows. “Seems everybody else did.” He scoffed, shaking his head. He found it hard to accept how much it hurt, to be without her. “Same shit as always. I was drunk and we got in a fight. And I… I left her. God, I fucked up.”

“Don’t take this wrong man, but you two are the same kind of fuck up when it comes down to it. You just work, maybe you were healthy for eachother but you worked.” He shrugged and shook his head. “So how are you going to fix it?”

“Music to my ears, I like you.” She laughed, leaning forward to look at what he’d drawn up. Her jaw dropped, and she looked between the paper and him a few times as a grin grew over her features. “How - it’s like you’re in my head, it’s perfect!”

“I may or may not be a mind reader.” Lennox chuckled with a wink. “where are we putting this again?” He asked as he tried to remember where exactly she had wanted it.

“Uh, because it kind of sucks?” Sebastian offered with a laugh, shaking his head. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t miss it - but it was like night and day, the difference it made in his life. It was like he had his life back. Well, most of it, anyway. “I, uh - I want this.” He took a crumpled piece of paper from his back pocket, handing it over nervously, not sure what his friend would think.

“Only sucks at first man.” He chuckled as he took the paper. Lennox went quiet as he looked it over. “I like it man. On your upper arm?” He asked, moving to sketch it on transfer paper. “You, uh, you talk to her yet?”

Sebastian clapped him on the back as he entered the shop, spinning around and sitting in front of him at the front desk. “What are you doing? Nothing, right? Good, because we’re celebrating, and we’re celebrating with tattoos and non-alcoholic beverages.” He grinned.

Lemnox grinned up at him as he sat in front of him. “I was wondering why we didn’t do sober along time ago honestly.” He chuckled holding his hand out for the manly handshake hug thing. “One month man. I’m proud of you. Really fucking proud. What do you want? Anything you want I’ll do for you man.” 

Violette looked around in search for Marnie. “I’m just looking for my sister.” She held up a small container. “Our Mom made some Latkes for dinner because of Hanukkah, but also because it’s a classic of our Mom’s, but I got some leftovers for her.”

“Oh! Hey, yeah. She uh, stepped out of a minute. We can put them in the fridge in the back if you want.” Lennox said as he stood, to show her where he meant. “Do those have to be refrigerated?”

“Fucking cheers to that.” Sebastian murmured, emotionless, before taking a few deep mouthfuls. With a harsh sigh, he glanced over at Lennox. He hadn’t asked - but he was the one person he wanted to talk to about it. “Ivy and I broke up. I… I fucked it all up, man. I don’t know how to fix it.”

“Fuck man.” He sighed shaking his head. “I honestly didn’t see that coming. What happened?”

Riley laughed, nodding once. “You could say that, I guess.” She’d been clumsy her whole life, always running into things or knocking them over - usually too preoccupied by something she’d seen to pay a lot of attention. “As long as nothing explodes.” She laughed.

“Than for you it shouldn’t be so bad.” He chuckled as he moved to show the design he’d created. “What do you think?”

“Because I’m tired of being so fucked up.” He replied bitterly, shaking his head. “And I’m tired of fucking everything else up because of it. So I’m quitting.”

Lennox nodded before getting up and getting his bottles from the cabinet. “If you quit. I quit. Let’s drain this shit.” 

Lennox grinned at Marnie as they came back to his place after being at her families for the first night of Hanukkah. Stella excitedly re-explaining the drediel game to them both. “Hey Stel’s, go get your pjs on real quick.”

“You’re drinking with me tonight.” He said by way of greeting, handing his friend a flask. “I don’t care about whatever your argument is. We’re getting drunk enough that I forget I’m not drinking again after tonight.”

Lennox took the flask looking at him before taking a swing. “Only because Stells at my parents house. Explain why it’s the last night?”
