Her lips tugged into a small smile before shaking her head. “You’re not boring me-your dog sounds awesome. It’s actually me,” Mina admitted with a sigh. “I feel like I want to do something different than doing the same thing over and over again and I’m getting a little bored with my life.”
"Then do it." She rested her elbows on the table, leaning forward. "I'm not going to stop you. It's not like your answering to anyone, right? There are vampires here that would make 80 look like infanthood. I'm sure they're experts at reinvention."
Dear future me,
Dear future me,
Did we ever manage to go home? As I write now, it's been over a century since we saw Svaneke. One century since I've placed a foot down on Danish soil. I remember every shop I passed on th way to the train, remember the docks where I used to wave goodbye to father. I remember Elsa's favorite bakery and Natalia's favorite theatre hall and the smell of sea salt on the breeze in late summer when autumn was one long night away from descending. Time isn't kind to places like that. I tell myself now that returning wouldn't do any good. I've outgrown that home and that life. But that's a lie and the truth boils down to one simply word. Fear. Not knowing, avoiding, it has a certain grace to it. I've been dancing out of the noose for years, knowing that eventually the knot will tighten.
I hope you've gone back there. I hope you've found out what happened to Elsa, to Natalia, to our parents. And most of all I hope that the knowledge has helped.
Love, Lena
What defines family to you?
"To me it's loyalty. Above blood, or love, or history. The people who you;d never turn your back on, the people who you know will be there when you need them, that's family."
“I couldn’t agree more. I’m happy Sophia and Vince could enjoy their day without something fatal happening. And I’m glad Hansel is getting along with the other dogs.” Nate smiled, hoping the peace would last. It was still hard to walk down the streets and not see all the buildings affected by the bombings, but it was getting better. “I know what you mean,” he said, eyes glancing everywhere as they strolled down the street. Nate wanted to make an effective strike back rather than wait around for the Clave to make their next move, but every time they followed a trail that was left behind, they ran into dead ends. It made him feel antsy. “But it won’t be like this forever. Try to enjoy the quiet while you can.” It wasn’t going to last, unfortunately.
"Enjoy the quiet?" Her hands dug into her pockets as they walked. She'd arrived back in town less than 24 hours after the strike, seen the destruction, the injured. The last thing she'd wanted to do was sit around licking at the wounds. She'd go anywhere she was ordered by Nate or his family, but the last thing she wanted was to sit around waiting to get hit. "That's not me. I'd like it to be - maybe . . .one day." She tilted her head up to look at Nate. "Still not ready for all that domestic bliss, I guess. I'm glad Sophia finally got it, but I'm still not ready to slow down."

“Not even one scary story?” Luna asked, pleading up at the person with big eyes. The fire pit she’d chosen in the park’s picnic area was lit from the fire that crackled within. Beside her was a cooler of drinks and all sorts of snacks. It was the first night they’d had in a while where a chill was in the air, and she was ready to take advantage of it. “Come on, I’ve got a fire going, drinks in the cooler. Stay awhile if you want.”
Lena took a breath. Who was she to deny some fresh drinks and the warmth of a fire? She sat, stretching out her hands to warm them on against the heat from the fire. "I don't really have any scary stories," she admitted. At least not ones that didn't include personal nightmares. "Just old fairytales from when I was a girl."
“Sneaking up on a man in the middle of the night is not a wise choice.” Nik spoke, all too calmly, despite the body laying by his feet. He stepped over it, walking over to the intruder, every step precise, calculated, his stance ready to attack. “Neither is it to linger around.”
"Am I supposed to be scared, right now?" She crossed her arms, standing firm in front of Nik. Her eyes darted to the body lying at his feet, before looking back to him. "Who is that?"
Text: Logan - Lena
Logan: I have my ways, and not sexting just getting opinions on things.
Logan: Hey! It's none of your business!
Lena: You are ridiculous.
Lena: But opinions? Really? On that?
“How long is this story? I’m 80, I have to plan.”
"That's nothing. Get back to me on that once you hit the century mark." She took a sip from her beer before nodding to the vampire. "Sorry if I'm boring you. I tend to gush when it comes to my dog."

Logan: [Image Sent to all]
Logan: Uh... please disregard the half naked picture. Did NOT mean to send to "all".
Lena: How did you even get my number? And are you really sexting before noon? On a Monday?
Lucy was on her way back to the station when she saw Lena writing tickets and she approached the other wolf with a grin. “OH please like I would try to get in an argument with you, I don’t like to pick fights I know I won’t win.” Lucy teased. “Plus, you’re in luck. Not my car.” She said with a grin. “Good to see you back on the job Jepsen.”
“Well you always were a smart kid.” She turned to Lucy once the ticket was ripped and gave her a smile. “Smarter than Will at least. I think I saw him getting smacked upside the head earlier. Went sulking off with a wounded pride.”
“You’re wasting no time in making new friends.” He joked gently, approaching the other werewolf while she finished writing the ticket. “Good thing I prefer to walk when I can.” He eyed the car she was writing a ticket for. Technically she was right, the meter had run out and they weren’t back. He wasn’t going to argue with her to get her to change her mind.
“Oh you know me. One new friend per decade. I’ve met the quota already.” She tipped her imaginary hat at Colton. “Afternoon Sheriff.” After tearing her ticket, she pocketed her book and turned to look at him completely. “Next time I play meter maid give me a little warning that Logan Hastings is patroling the streets.”
“Then follow me, love.” Margaret motioned for the woman to walk with her. “Have you been in town long?” She asked, making small talk as they made their way to the small coffee shop that was just down the corner.
“I’ve been around since founding day.” She pointed toward the fountain. “Stood right about there that day with the Greysons.” She rubbed the tension out from one of her shoulders as the memories from that summer day came back to her. “But I’ve spent most of the past two years in D.C. on pack business.”
“Oh we both know you wouldn’t be disappointed. But I like that you tried to keep a straight face through that lie.” He made a face and looked from her to the meter, then back to her. “You’re words say you’re comfortable but your tone when I came over says you’re touchy today.” He took a step closer to her looking down at her with a smirk. “You gonna keep lying to me, Lena? Because I can think of way better ways to spend your breath.”
"You really missed your calling as a therapist, Logan." She stood her ground as Logan stepped closer, tilting her chin upward. He'd always been handsome, but this close she could see the curve of his long eyelashes. Feel the heat radiating off of him. "Maybe I'm ticked off because I'm being yelled at for writing parking tickets. Maybe I'm a little bored with nothing happening in this town. Maybe I'm ticked off because you're standing too close."

Emmett had never been picky before on choosing a phone. It was only recently that he’d upgraded to a smartphone anyway and that was because it was easier to keep in contact with others and for work. “I’ll probably go into the store and get the first one I see. Whichever one won’t be destroyed if I accidentally drop it into water again, that is.
"I bet waterproof will just be one of those standard builds soon." She carefully rocked her seat back on it's hind legs. "I'm still waiting for them to release the smartphone that's full moon proof."
“Sorry to hear.” With three small children in tow, it seemed like everyone was having a rough day. “I’m sure you’ll get it back eventually, Lena. You’re a good cop.” He knew it couldn’t be easy to have lost all she had, but Lena was a hard worker. She would get back to where she had been soon enough. “I’d be happy to. I’ve been meaning to stop by Hair of the Dog, anyway.” Nate stuffed his hands into his pockets and walked in step with Lena. “So besides ticket duty, have things been well with you?”
"Well with Hansel socializing well at doggie daycare, Sophia's wedding going off with zero deaths, and a six pack of Sam Adams chilling in my fridge back home I don't have many complaints." She shed her police jacket, and slid her hands into the back pocket of her jeans as she walked. It felt good to be back in a town that she considered home. Her work in D.C. was important, but she'd fought hard to get reinstated with her pack after the attacks. "The quiet's making me nervous though."
