1) “a relationship that’s aggressively heterosexual on the surface level/in maintext but has plenty of romantic undertones+blatantly romantic gestures and/or framing with the clear intent of never actually delivering on the exploration of that” is LITERALLY the textbook definition of queerbaiting. that’s why it’s baiting. 

2) perhaps it would be more fruitful to question why the creators of SG (or any other show that this applies to) are so opposed to actually exploring gay relationships instead of just having their one (1) token gay and patting themselves on the back for Inclusiveness™ instead of telling young LGBT fans that they are idiots to recognize their viewership is clearly being exploited as if it’s only those Dumb Young Gays and not, idk, professional critics left and right who pick up on the romantic undertones of this relationship but y’know, go off
