We've been wanting to take this little Nylium Network thing We have and expand it into a general Technology For Alterhumans thing. This is very much just a dream at the moment, no concrete plans, but would anybody be interested in working on Us with this? Some of the kinds of things We're thinking about are:
websites
communication platforms (like Fluxer, a forum, or even some bespoke social media)
game servers
resources for things like tech & information literacy
a newsletter
a dedicated place for listings (for things like new projects, artists taking commissions, researchers looking for participants)
looking into other technologies like prosthetics or VR
The point would very much to be to provide ways for alterhumans to communicate with each other, as opposed to platforming ourselves.

Sorry, I like going against the grain and that’s a big title LOL. By this, I don’t mean the practice of soulbonding is unserious, no. Or that they aren’t real connections. What I mean is soulbonding is not some thing you need to prep extensively for. Soulbonding does not inherently mean you plan to share a life, a body, or anything with them. Because soulbonding is only one thing — a connection. And you can have any relationship with this connection, from emotionally close to an acquaintance you see once in a while. Bodily present or no interest in the body/your life at all! The cool thing about soulbonding is it tends to allow for relationships you genuinely might find hard to hold up in this world — complicated ones, messy ones, ones you can’t easily label to people but are invaluable and unique. I have various relationships with those I’m connected to.
Some are deeply, truly close to my heart. I couldn’t imagine ever being without them. Others are my ride or die even if we talk less often and I still trust them with everything. Some I’m just befriending and feels so comfortable, safe, and happy around them, just like my casual irl buddies! Some are a mentor figure, some are complicated, and some I see many times a week while others are more sporadic, spur of the moment. I’m not yet so deeply, emotionally connected to every person. But connecting does mean I feel a deep sense of care, and this care creates different, varying and valid relationships between all of them. After all, different people exist to have different relationships, not all be the same. And you know? Some I connected simply by reaching out and going “You’re cool. This is what soulbonding is. Wanna try it and be my friend?”
No stakes or any pressure other than an ask for a tentative friendship. Sure, you can ask for permanent residents. People to leave everything behind and join you. But you can also want nothing of the sort (see; day trippers and telephone connections) — or they want nothing of the sort. Mine never had any interest in living my life or in my body, even when I went in expecting it. When I soulbond casually, it is extremely low stakes. We reach out and talk sometimes. Sometimes we get closer. I’ve also soulbonded unintentionally with an immediate, serious relationship with strong feelings. I believe my own feelings and hopes/desires make me connect to someone who shares those feelings. After all, I tried to hold back out of respect, yet they seemed to like me a great deal similarly anyway. (Originally, I even tried to convince myself I must be making it up and need to stop… even though none of it I expected or was doing intentionally. I now learned to not meanly doubt them, haha.)
This isn’t me saying it’s bad to approach it serious. It absolutely can be if that’s all you want. But the concept to me that it will inevitably be is untrue, it can be low stakes. Likewise, if you do want to go in wanting a serious relationship, that’s fine! Because as long as both parties agree, that’s all that matters! I don’t believe in the concept that any approach or desire is bad. The same way hookups are fine if both parties want and enjoy it, approaching soulbonding for casual or serious relationships are fine! (Yes, I include hookups in there. I know, scandalous.) You have the power to say no, they do too.
Anyway, I think this casual approach is really freeing. I have some people I’m invariably linked to and devoted to for life. It’s entirely because of how they are as people, soulbonded or not. And I have some I chat with maybe a few times a month just to catch up and hang out. I love my casual friends and I love my partners I want to be with forever.
The one linking factor between all my soulbonds is I care a whole lot about them and want to be connected! And as long as they do too, I’m probably not gonna stop making new friends and new connections. Turns out I’m a soulbond social butterfly. And I don’t want people to feel limited by ideas of exclusivity, that they must approach with the expectation of a type of soulbond or prepare for the worst, or that they cannot want a fun, low-stakes mutual relationship vs. something more committed. You can connect a whole bunch for no other reason than you’re social and it’s fun meeting new people! And I’d miss out on making so many amazing connections if I never decided to start soulbonding just for the fun of meeting new people!
Holy crap idc about your kin can you please go do your own kin edits/posts why are you all doing the overlay/png/pronouns layout rant trend thing when there are literally thousands of other videos you could steal the layout from. Do the blockblast/roblox rants or smth like at least don’t steal the overly + add the png photos im so tired of being like “oh hey another system account!” Just to learn they’re banking off the fact it’s a trend now find your own damn tends let us have our own spaces.

Using "kin" as a verb and "kins" to refer to kintypes is not alterhuman terminology. Using the word "kin" this way originated on Tumblr around 10 years ago when the broader community here learned about otherkin and tried to turn nonhuman identities into a fad without learning anything about our community. Most of the people involved called themselves "kinnies" or "kin for fun", and they were notorious for publicly harassing and mocking real otherkin.
While people on here may understand what you mean when you say "I kin wolves" or "mothman is one of my kins", please be aware that otherkin from other communities, as well as older Tumblr users, will think you are either roleplaying or making fun of them if you use these terms.
Here is what to do and not do when discussing your experiences:
Example 1
"Angel is one of my kins" ❌
"I kin angels" ❌
"Angel is one of my kintypes" ✅
Example 2
"I'm kinning unicorns right now" ❌
"I think I might have a unicorn kintype" ✅
"I am having a unicorn shift" ✅
If you've been using the wrong terms because you weren't aware of the established community terminology that isn't your fault, and you haven't done anything bad! I am posting this reminder because people who use "kins" and "kinning" are setting themselves up for bad interactions with other alterhumans, and that doesn't need to happen :)
Note: If you still want to use "kinning" terminology that is your choice. This post is just to make sure everyone is making an informed decision about the words they use for themselves, because this will impact how others in the community perceive you.
As a soulbonder and identifying as fictional, all I can think of for my soulbonds and fictional hearthomes/archetropes/whatever you want to call it is they taste good to me with synesthesia
and I do not know how to explain that to people who don't share a body with me and on paper they don't remotely look like they have anything in common

Usually don't talk about my soulbond self ship on here because of its controversy but fuck it this is my blog lol so anyways:
One of my main doubts when it comes to my soulbond with GZ is that sense he is a character I wrote I worry about what's a head canon and what's actually him. So cue today right now our usually music style tends to be 2000s pop and electronic music which okay he's a robot based around early 2000s culture that makes sense. So we're unloading groceries and I forgot on my main playlist with over 3000+ songs I had bonfire by childish Gambino now usually I would just skip it because modern rap and hip hop not really my thing besides a few expections and I have to be in the mood for it....we ended up listening to it 4 times and when I got alone and no one can hear I just said out loud "YOU LIKE THIS????" and during it I also felt the odd head pressure thing and what not so yeah uuuh turns out my robot boyfriend that lives in my head likes rap??? okay??? Sure!
Soulbonding coming from writers makes this actually pretty common, my group of soulbonds came from a self insert fic I wrote when I was forming and the cast just hangs around my head. They're more or less like a rewrite of the series they're from.
For headcanons vs. the soulbond, I'd recommend looking into tulpamancy since they have guides focused more around preventing parroting. Even if your soulbond is not a thoughtform, tulpamancy/thoughtform resources can be helpful (which applies to a lot of systems we're starting to realize lol).
I think it also depends how aware your soulbonds are of being fictional if you can just directly bring up the headcanon issue. You could also say outright you have assumptions and you're worried about accidentally parroting them. Like with pretty much any type of headmate and especially for a relationship, communication is key.
For me personally my method whenever my soulbonds get fuzzy, whether because of headcanons or not, is I just take a break. Not from interacting with my soulbonds all together outright, but that specific soulbond.
I'm also not a self shipper and not in a romantic relationship with any of my soulbonds, but I'd really recommend taking the relationship slow if that's what you're going for and make sure you get good communication before doing anything intimate.
