I remembered this game so I made the characters in Paralives. I clocked like 250 hours total when I played it? But after a few playthroughs it’s kind of boring. I had a lot more fun when you could lie n shit in it, and spread gossip about your friends behind their backs. It was easier to influence people and having to keep your lies straight was fun. I think I found it when it was 0.26 or update 0.27 in 2018. I think the game got done dirty, by being compared to Yandere Simulator so much, with clickbait thumbnails like the ones from King Clickbait himself. The game was actually, ironically, and if I remember correctly, partially inspired by The Sims, but also other games like Bully. But instead it got reduced to this.

I even ran (and accidentally deleted) the amino for it. Granted I was way too young and I was in the server but I’m pretty sure I bullshitted about my age to get in. I think I felt bad and left tho LMAO 🙏 anyway, what I liked about DG was that the other students actually interacted and formed strong opinions on each other naturally, so it was less like playing god. Anyway, it’s basically a college simulator? Very anime inspired, which despite my icon (which isn’t even technically from an anime and no one has guessed it yet lol) is not really my type of thing anymore but you can make custom students n shit. Can’t delete them, they always get added back to your files, but still. Anyway this post will basically only apply to a specific niche of people who are both fans of two indie games but you know. Anyway, I was serious about sucking at making Paras. Tbh I honestly didn’t bother with Suiren or Kaito that much. Fitting considering where I put him on my tier list back in the day. Anyway it’s on steam. Glad I bought it back before the Online Safety Act because that shit sucks. Ironic how getting it when I was young was easier than when I’m a grown adult lmao. Fuck the Online Safety Act. Just saying. :)

Am I meant to believe this person originally writes, arranges, records, edits, mixes and masters this many songs, sometimes with several released in the same day, with the exact same thumbnail style and descriptions that read like this…

It’s chat-GPT speak. The “it’s not X, it’s X,” the exact same style, the talk of “diving” or “capturing” being awfully reminiscent of prompting a summary of a song. If you know how AI writes summaries, you can spot this pretty easily. Seriously, what person talks like this?

And a dead giveaway of this description being AI is the overusage of emojis. ChatGPT does this all the time.

My main problem with this isn’t even the slop, it’s that it’s not being labelled as being made by AI. This person is tricking people (somehow) into thinking these are actual, original songs, when they clearly are not. Also, what fucking theories and news and character analysis? They only post songs LMAO.

This video explains how to spot AI music better (relevant points start 3:00 minutes in. Point #4 is also probably irrelevant. I do not think this person is botting numbers though I wouldn’t be surprised tbh. Though after taking a peak at the comments, some of them are way too similar to each other or weirdly worded. What I can tell surely is that criticism is deleted/accusations. If it’s not AI, why not come out and say that?)

It’s really disappointing to see someone taking advantage of their listeners trust to deceive them. I have seen one video callout on this person, but it was either deleted or taken down, but other than that, this person’s music gets views that could’ve been better spent on honest actors. And yes, plausible deniability will always exist, on the off-chance this person just so happens to act exactly like an AI ‘artist’ who is lying about it would. In the same way finding someone at a crime scene holding a knife doesn’t mean they killed someone. Oh, and the knife has a weird red stain on it. Could be ketchup. Even if it smells weird. Who knows?

Disliking chatGPT is LITERALLY JUST LIKE THAT SCENE WHERE THE SENTIENT ROBOT IS GETTING BEAT UP.

You know, if we ignore how the androids in the game are heavily implied to experience some form of sentience and how chatGPT, uh, doesn’t.

In all seriousness, this was coming from a video about a life sim competitor to the sims, with such great arguments like “but the sims already uses AI” (ignoring the difference between code written by a programmer and data-trained LLM’s or GAN’s). Granted I’ve heard EA is planning on implementing GenAI, and tbh they’ve already probably done it and haven’t said, but that’s not the point.

Now, I understand the argument that people can be reactionary. I have my own qualms with certain arguments myself. But these things are not equivalent. Is your bond with Claude so strong that you’re starting to believe he’s the exact same thing as an Android from the game? Not that Detroit’s writing is amazing in the first place, but the idea that these are equivalent is asinine.

Now, maybe there’s an argument to be said that if in some magical fairytale sci-fi universe there was sentient AI (something we don’t even know is possible) this could become an issue, because yes, I have seen comments about how the protestors were right from the game because of the discourse in recent years. However, I don’t take these to be serious comments especially since I frankly don’t believe we’ll reach sentient AI. I barely believe we’ll make it the next fifteen years. Like, even if AI was sentient, how would we know? It’s the hard problem of consciousness. But whatever. Point is that this comment is funny asf.

‘you’re not going to write one.’ (Not sure what this refers to. I know the line but not what I was telling myself here. Keep in mind I didn’t write this with sharing it in mind. I hardly did it with myself in mind sometimes, and I’d look at my own notes and be confused.)

In fact, maybe move it to the end? Probably not. (I didn’t end up moving it in the end. I felt it added more of a WTF factor, because the reader wants to know who these people are and what’s going on with them.)

Page 9: Ring should be region. (Because my book takes place in a loose parody of an inferno-like world, a concept that has been done a million times and I probably could’ve been more unique about, I wanted to give it a little bit of a unique and grounded edge.)

“She went through. The room engulfed” might flow better (don’t know what the original line was. I’m assuming ‘she went through, the room engulfing.’

Replace soul with life. Has more of an umph to it. (Self-explanatory. Plus from a meta perspective I don’t believe in souls so there’s probably some metaphysical explanation in-universe for the afterlife. Did I write it? No. That would’ve been boring for this project. But still.)

Page 23: About four times should be changed to eight times (This is because I’m very particular about the way I use specific numbers in my work symbolically. I might’ve gone overboard with it at some parts in retrospect, though.)

Page 24: change “fuck this” to “enough of this?” (I guess I found it too swear-y, which is funny, because some neutral feedback I’ve received on this work thus far is that there’s a lot of swearing. My bad. I’m naturally a swear-y person and both protagonists aren’t exactly polite company but I guess a character I thought this was OOC for said this.)

Page 24: change ten to five (This is because I’m very particular about the way I use specific numbers in my work symbolically.)

Page 33: Change the fire sword metaphor (I don’t remember this, but it was probably a bad one.)

Page 36: lower case (I deliberately lowercased the ‘names’ of two locations in this work because they’re not names, they’re directions.)

Page 41: Trying to solve level 15, 16 and 17. Also, three weeks to two. (See above. Also, two weeks may have been a number symbol thing but I’m unsure. Probably.)

Page 121: add a line showing MMC’s discomfort (btw, obviously I’m using the actual character names in my notes I’m just doing it for context sake here. I think this was probably some unwanted comment and as this character is aroace I wanted to make it clearer?)

Page 136: Would he swear? Also add detail about how there had been white roses prior. (White roses were symbolism for something and background storytelling for something that comes later. It’s a detail I think most people would miss but I felt it was an interesting Easter egg anyway. And no, this character wouldn’t have so openly so I changed it.)

Page 145: Five second intervals. Also reframe his knowledge of the trials to make it clear MMC’s father was lying. (I don’t remember the context, sorry. I’m six or seven months separated from this work.)

Page 158: Really? ‘Knocked heavily on the door?’ (yeah, that was poor prose.)

Page 166: Realistially, she would figure out pretty quickly what the code was. (There’s a code that’s pretty obvious, so I think I changed the wording.)

Page 176: That teleportation line is silly (Don’t remember)

Page 189: not what a truism is (I misused a word)

Page 287: “Just adding being getting.” Speech 100 lel. (LOL)

Change showering line (related to a trauma, I think? Don’t remember.)

No seriously let’s say witchcraft is real. There have probably been hundreds of thousands of people to have practiced it in all of history. If that were the case, surely some butterfly effect bullshit would happen and stir up some shit when Sally Downtown is using carnelian to help with inspiration for her risotto while Sam Uptown is summoning a demon while John Averageguy is taking a shower and somehow, all of these events come together to cause an Earthquake in the middle of Singapore or a fire in Italy or a flood in Monaco.
