When Patches first came to be, she wished she could hangout with other creatures, such as nightopians. She was constantly rejected and ridiculed for what she was, so the best she could get was watching them from afar and imagining herself playing with them.

Her hiding in the bushes and watching them did not help her reputation in the slightest, but she rather feel included in some manner than to be alone.

I just read all of the IDW sonic comics a few days ago. I loveeee Tangle and Whisper, their designs are so appealing!!

This almost scrapped piece is a tad gory as I tried to show more of the animal-side of Patches. Nightmarens seem to be on the top of the food chain, especially first levels, so I wanted to show that. Patches has an extreme hatred towards nightopians, and pretty much hunts them for sport. She finds joy in making them suffer, just like they made her (though they did to a much lesser extent)!
