Four Ice (I can’t wait to see the upcoming Omega Ice!,!٩(˃̶͈̀௰˂̶͈́)و）

The seals in the Selkie Ice story are so CUTE that I keep imagining what it would be like for them to meet with the pilots of Top Gun. And I imagine that Selkie Ice sneaks his seal friends over to the Top Gun training facility to play. When the officer unexpectedly comes to check on them, all the pilots try their best to "hide" their seal guests……by talking nonsense!

If Mav saw baby seal Ice and baby wolf Ice, I think he would faint on the floor, clutching his heart LOL

“Tòmas used to get sick all the time. Flu. Strep throat. Croup.” Pans and other kitchenware clattered about in the background, and Maverick had to press the receiver tightly to his ear to hear. “After our captor died, it was just me and my son for a while. The house we lived in was more of a shack, so there were many gaps in the planks for cold air to get in. And there was not always money for human medicine.”

I love every character in Selkie Ice AU. Every time I read the story again, I became more aware of it. Here is the link, please, read it:

I didn't realize the hardest thing to draw would be Ice's father. At first, I did three drafts, and in every one of them I tried to paint his face. But I soon couldn't, because I would die of rage at the thought of what he had done to Ùna. So I ended up skipping his face because he really didn't deserve one.

And I have a feeling that Werewolf Ice would be proud to correct Selkie Ice's wrong impression of the werewolf, because he is much more handsome than those in the movie.

Ùna in her wise woman garb is serving all sorts of looks. Love the inclusion of the necklace. The foreshadowing.

I LOVE the design for Victor. He is the standard issue Fisherman(tm) and he knows it. He is at peace. And so kind, feeding his wife and seal son. They grew up eating seafood somebody miles away would shell out big money for.

You are absolutely correct to say That Man does not deserve a face. He doesn’t even get a name! The way he’s so big and towering over pregnant Ùna like a predator is very chilling. Her skin is at the center because that was his only true aim.

YES I was hoping to see Steve. He’s drunk as fuck and not remotely worried about it. Poor Ice just wanted a lesson. And Slider is not getting paid nearly enough to put up with this. He is, in fact, not getting paid at all.

KUMIKO. I love her. All of my OCs’ names are inspired by real people. Here is her inspiration! That woman’s brain is sea slugs all the way down. The fact that you went so far as to draw a bunch of species is delightful. You must have had many wonderful tabs open for references. Pebble is such a supportive man.

CHAMOMILE AND THE TWINS. Ribbon seals are so…they just don’t look real. Their markings IRL are just so perfectly circular and crisp. It’s so intimidating. What I like most about this piece is the three distinct emotions going on. We got I Know Just What to Do, It’s Too Fucking Early for This Bullshit, and I Am Helping. It takes all three to run the place.

The doorways and windows of people and places!! There’s so much in this one so I’ll pick out a couple to highlight. The stylized image with the knife and Peisinoe is perfect. She’s basically a mythological figure to most of her kind, so she looks good in this less defined motif. Reminds me of cave art a little. What’s there is most important. / I’m so obsessed with the medical team lineup. They are all employee of the month. / More Drunk Steve!!!

The stylized scenery! I just really love this art style so so much. I love how round and exaggerated everything is.

A perfect ending. Ice just barely in the shot coming home, Maverick and his book, Estrella and their weird ass dog playing out back. It is so very nice and warm~

Re: two Iceman Creatures meeting: @icemankazansky and I were licherally talking about this not too long ago; specifically about a meeting between the creatures I have turned Val Kilmer into. Tbh selkie Ice would kick werewolf Ice’s ass if it came down to it. The werewolf is so tired of being on guard because he wants to be soft. Meanwhile, the Selkie has god slaying experience and is just getting started. BUT he is also kind so what would really happen is they would hang out, silently having a competition over who smells the worst. Honestly…selkie Ice would win that too. Wolves are musky on main but seal colonies smell SO fucking bad oh my god

Thank you sooooo much for your kind reply! The word "infinite" can describe the excitement and joy in my heart because you understand ALL my ideas. All the glory belongs to you and your great story, and both the Selkie Ice and Werewolf Ice deserve thousands of fan arts and memes. By the way, in the picture of Ice using magic to travel through, I drew a Seal Ice wearing the Batman uniform, because while I was painting, the computer next to me kept playing Batman Forever on a loop. Whenever I was tired, I would look up at the handsome face of Val Kilmer, and then I had the strength again LOL

Ice watched the jets until they flew away. Then Mister took him home, back to the cage and the damp and the woman waiting in the doorway. A year later, Mister died. Ùna felt the moment he passed, and she danced wildly around the shack, swinging her son through the air and laughing for the first time in Ice’s recollection.

“Come away with me, my love,” she said. She summoned her coat, which flew to her side in an instant, and helped Ice get into his. They packed nothing. At the edge of the sea foam, they plunged their sleek, fat bodies into the waves. Ice followed his mother through the murky, brackish water to a secret passageway within a magic fissure that led them to the Ocean.

…Ice whispered as he painted gray splotches on Maverick’s skin…

Ohhh more! I love them!

I love the way Ùna’s magic looks in the first one. It makes me think of the northern lights and stars, which fits nicely with her scrying/star reading abilities. That was one of my favorite backgrounds in the movie. I love the way her billowy hair contrasts with Ice’s pointy noggin.

In the second drawing I’m going to imagine this is one of his younger cousins and they’re sizing each other up for the first time. Maybe the cousin has never left the Ocean and this is her first time seeing human-shaped person.

I’m so excited to see someone else’s interpretation of the marriage rituals! It was something that came to me from a variety of other sources. I like that Ice is being so careful and sitting so close. Maverick is also taking this very seriously, and being still. And somebody’s cousin is being very nosy.

Wonderful dynamic water in the last one. A fun stylization to play with. Lots of energy, and then in the middle they’re just holding each other. Waiting to see where the water will take them next.

Selkie Ice AU really has no end of surprises. Every time I read it, I find more highlights. And I just realized that I especially liked how Ice got along with elephant seals. While reading, I tried to draw some lovely scenes (the sketches are too sloppy, please forgive me) in the story. They are brave as the lions and reliable as the mountains, and it’s their support that helps Ice find Peisinoe.

I love this so much! When I saw it I went

I really love the art style of Cartoon Saloon, so I’m delighted to see it applied to my story. Song of the Sea was such a good film.

Seal Ice is so cute in this first picture. I love his huge wet eyes. He is a wet beast and you captured him perfectly. His present is so thoughtful, too, and I like that Maverick loved it so much he went through the trouble of making it wearable in the second picture. He would wear that everywhere.

I’m extremely into Maverick’s outfit in the third picture. Whatever he’s got going on with his drip is fantastic. The moment he’s sharing with Ice looks so intimate, too, like they’re so comfortable with one another no matter what shape Ice is in. Is one of them going on some dangerous adventure? Is one of them just going to the store? It could be anything, and they’re making every moment count regardless. The excerpt is so apt as well. He is freeeeeee.

And the final picture with Ice really represents well the fact that he’s caught between two worlds: I like the idea of the jacket being part proper jacket and part skin cape. And the solemn look on his face is very characteristic of him. He is assertive, but vulnerable as well, and he knows it. The magic reaching down to him is a fun touch. The limited color makes the moment that much more striking.

This is the harp seal mother and baby picture I found. When I saw Una laughing and carrying her son back to the sea, I could not help but burst into tears and almost gave a standing ovation.
