"Okay, Kate. Just breathe. It's only your first real date with Yelena. It's fine, you're fine. Everything's fine. Tonight's gonna be fun.." Kate muttered quietly to herself while rocking back and forth on her heels.

Her hands anxiously fidgeted in her trouser pants pockets as she glanced down both sides of the sidewalk, then pulled her one hand out to glance at her wrist watch before shoving it back into her pants pocket.

'She's not late, you're just a weirdo who got here way too early..' Kate thought to herself, letting out a long sigh. She really needed to calm down. Yelena was gonna be here soon, and she didn't want her seeing her acting so lame.

Yelena rushed up to her moments later. "Sorry I'm late, apparently it's a crime for a girl to get dressed up and go out. I swear everyone suddenly wants to know my business--" she said, rolling her eyes.

She had definitely dressed up more than usual for this, though. It felt appropriate. And Kate had said she wanted an excuse to see Yelena dressed up. She hadn't done something like this that wasn't for an assignment in...ever. It was nice. She got to wear something she actually liked and be with someone she cared about.

Once Kate had a good look at Yelena’s outfit, her heart skipped a beat, leaving her momentarily speechless.

"Oh! N-No, it's.. it's totally fine!" She stammered out, her cheeks flushing a bright red. "You, uh, you look.. beautiful." She muttered shyly, reaching out to hold onto her hands, then looks back at the entrance of the restaurant.

“Why do you want to know?” Yelena replied as she arched an eyebrow.

“I.. Well..” Kate sighed at her failure to be smooth.

Yelena stepped closer and backed Kate up against the wall beside the roof’s door. Her gaze dropped briefly to the brunette’s lips. “Why are you asking, Kate Bishop?”

“Because.. because.. Ugh, this is not going the way I pictured it in my head. I am so not being smooth.”

“And what exactly were you picturing about me?”…

Kate, sighing: yeah it’s fine. Whatever.

Yelena: what’s wrong? You do not like this color?

Kate: nothing. It’s a great off shade of white.

Yelena: then what’s wrong.

Kate: adults are boring and I hate them. I don’t want to buy all this stupid, boring adult stuff and become a stupid, boring adult.

Yelena: hey, listen to me, we are going to get the dish rack, utensils, shower curtain, bath towels and this very nice cutting board because we need them. Your apartment is lacking basic necessities… But if you think for one minute that I am leaving without that marshmallow shooter so I can shoot you in the face with marshmallows when you are annoying me then you are an idiot, Kate Bishop.
