Streetwear is Essential in the words of Jerry Lorenzo. Fear of God is one of my top favorite Street wear brands that has EVER hit the market! Jerry Lorenzo is known for his quality, creativity, colorways, and influence. His styles and designs are unique when it comes to his creative differences. Jerry Lorenzo is a fashion creator of his clothing lines Fear of God and Essentials. Fear of God is a luxury brand with prices on the more expensive side and Essentials is more affordable for consumers who love the Fear of God collections. For example, if a hoodie made by Fear of God is sold for $710 ssense.com, a similar more affordable jacket may be sold and made by essentials at websites like pacsun.com for $100. I must say that I love the unique creativity that Jerry Lorenzo brings to streetwear industry, and I love that he credits his inspirations. I am to a collector and loyal customer of Essentials and Fear of God. Fear of God luxury label has a variety of products like suiting, outerwear, knitwear, tops, bottoms, footwear, and accessories. Prices are more on the luxury side with blazers ranging at $1,900 to an inside out mock neck sweatshirt starting at $425. Although this is an all-men’s collection, I absolutely love the pull overs, Henley's, T-shirts, sweatpants, and hoodies. It’s hard to choose what I love because I love everything!  Jerry Lorenzo takes innovative styles and makes them more unique, changes the fitting, and adds his flavor to everything he touches. Jerry Lorenzo has quality fabric and production. For example, the T-shirts align with one’s collarbone and provides a nice droop, perfect for showcasing jewelry, but still neat and crisp along the neckline.

I have a series of collections and colorways from his collections that first dropped at pacsun.com, F.O.G, which he eventually transitioned over to the name Essentials. This was more affordable than Fear of God, but still quality and a mockery of the luxury label Fear of God. The looks can be sleek, neutral, and basic which is perfect for various occasions and events. Essential’s releases lead to drops that are always a selling out and going for resale. A great example of sold-out essentials merch is the collab with the late, great Nipsey Hussle. Nipsey Hussle passed away due to unfortunate gun violence, but his legacy lives in strong. Jerry Lorenzo collaborated with Nipsey Hussle’s clothing line The Marathon Continues also referred to as TMC. The hats have the best, hold their form and the material is all of what an example of quality material looks like. I love the fit of Essentials because it’s loose fitted, but not tacky and baggy. Styles are more relaxed and oversized, but the quality of fabric makes this ten times better. Don’t let me get started on the good quality! Have you ever had the coolest hoodie, but the hood was depressed and moping around on your back? Essential’s is one of the first collections of hoodies where I’ve encountered a hoodie that not only stays up on its own, but also can be used as a hood. The hoods fit perfectly over the head and provide ample enough room to wear without feeling too tight, too small, or oddly flat. This hoodie has different feature as it does not come with those annoying drawstrings that typically comes out and will have to be fished from one side to the other after laundry day. Who else hates hoodies that lose elasticity in the wrist and waist bands. Not only is Essential’s properly manufactured for the body structure of a human, but the form remains structured even after several washes! The pockets are immaculate on this clothing line as it’s built perfectly for people who use their pockets. I love deep pockets because it secures my comfort when I know my items are safely in my pockets and won’t fall out. This is a great product to rip and run in the streets in without having to worry about the “rip” part!

I must say that I can relate! I absolutely love being a sneaker head that has sneakers on her brain all the time. I’m always looking for the hottest drops to cop and the best trends to take over. Since we’re talking about shoes, how about we step into my most favorite sneaker brand Jordan’s, created by Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan, also known as MJ, is a well-known successful businessman and former NBA player. Since retiring at the age of 30, Michael Jordan created a brand that has taken over the shoe industry and streetwear. Michael Jordan now has an incredible partnership with the Nike establishment selling his brand, Jordan’s. If you ever wanted to know what luxury street wear looks like in the shoe game, then I would advise looking into many of the different Jordan’s. I know Chris Brown and Jordan Sparks said no air, but they never said no Air Jordan 1’s which happens to be my most favorite pair of sneakers out of the Jordan brand. Let’s start off with a luxurious sneaker, the Dior Jordan 1 Retro High. I love this collaboration between Michael Jordan, Nike, and Dior because this is exactly what it looks like walking the streets in luxury streetwear. I’m not sure what’s more luxurious, the fact that the shoes were made in Italy or the fact that they were edge painted by hand. I can most definitely say that there is high quality in not only the making of this shoe, but also in the design and thought process behind creating.

Kim Jones, the men’s director of Dior, teamed up with Michael Jordan, lead footwear designer for men’s Dior, Fievel Dennis and Jordan’s VP of design Martin Lotti. The group worked to make a collaboration that would grasp the attention of sneaker lovers and cater to luxury. This fan favorite and hard to cop drop is made from top-notch fabrics like cashmere, silk, and genuine Italian leather. The shoe features a low top and high-top shoe with an embroidered, eye-catching Nike, Dior checkmark that incorporates the Dior brand and their logo on Nike’s logo. This copy paper white and accent gray leather contains a Dior monogram that’s inside of the Nike swoosh and I absolutely love it! This shoe is on my future to buy list as the cost has risen since release and can be resold for way more than the original price of $2000. Resellers like Stock X for example, have heightened prices anywhere between $7000 to $30,000 just for one pair of sneakers based off popular sizes. The resell price of the shoe may be pricier than the original price, but according to Drew Carey, I believe the price is right based off the value.

Virgil Abloh is a goat of fashion innovation with his master mind and creativity. He made thread and fabric a canvas. He painted originality at its finest and paved his portion of fashion history. Virgil Abloh created an environment that displayed confidence, luxury, and style. The streets are hot, and Virgil has a lot to do with controlling the temperature. Streetwear is major in society today and has always made its way around as one of the most influential, favored, and popular fashion markets. Pyrex Vision was Virgil Abloh’s first street wear brand creating a frenzy throughout the fashion world over having Pyrex written across your shorts. He worked at a local screen-printing shop where he one day met rapper, Kanye West. This led to his internship at Fendi where he also interned with Ye and became his creative director. Not only has he left his blueprint in fashion, but he has had his heavenly hands of creation in furniture, album covers and more diversifying his portfolio. King of Collaborations suits Virgil Abloh well, because when he collaborated, he came through every time! His furniture collab with IKEA was not swept under the rug, it became the rug. His “Wet Grass” rug is a staple and I see it in a lot of sneaker shops, streetwear shops and studios. His Off-White collaboration with Nike is legendary and most definitely a statement piece keeper item. I’m also a customer, and I can confirm the quality of not only his efforts and creativity, but the material and labor as well. His hard work and well-earned opportunities presented the start of a major luxury label, Off-White. This led him into his destiny of another well-earned position of my favorite luxury brand Louis Vuitton, as Men’s Artistic Director. Virgil Abloh broke beautiful barriers, being the first black man to be Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director. His journey did not end on November 28th, 2021, after passing away from a rare cancer known as Cardiac Angiosarcoma. He has worked with many high-profile celebrities and fashion designers. Virgil worked to be remembered and created what he loved for the people that love and support him, and that’s why his name will never fade away. He moved with purpose and provided with purpose, so it was only right that he left with purpose and left his purpose.

Another legend also transitioned January 23, 2022 but left a major impact on another market of fashion. Thierry Mugler is a well-known French fashion designer who has worked with many familiar faces, celebrities, and award-winning personnel. Mugler captured every bit of sexy through his high-end trends and ordinary fashion ideas that targeted creative beauty. I absolutely love the pieces on Thierry Mugler and one of my favorite pieces is the Star Flocked Mesh dress. He has created iconic looks starting with two of my favorites that’s really keeping the block hot and the girls loving it, Kim Kardashian, and Cardi B! These were two of my favorite Mugler looks because it gave me sleek, sexy, upscale and that.…you finish the rest! Lol! He’s not only iconic for making women feel spicy, but also for making them smell like a date night at Nobu with his perfume collection. Mugler iconic fashion pieces can be seen going down the red carpet at award shows or events and on performers working the stage and entertaining fans. The Sheer Tulle Bodysuit is to die for and gives the perfect amount of sexy for a date night or going out look. This haute couture lives up to the name of its market. It’s hot, luxury, trendy and fashionable couture.
