Ten more fics for International Cat Day
Earlier today I posted some of my favorite fics for Catra and Olive the catgirl, since today is International Cat Day, which is a celebration which takes place on August 8th of every year, and aims raise awareness for cats and learn about ways to help and protect them. I wanted to bring in ten of my other favorite fics. There's many more with cats, ten seems like a good number without overwhelming everyone.

Lio accepted the 'clarification,' regardless of its incoherent nature. Benson, Wolf, and Dave were unconvinced, believing that Kipo was not telling them something. Perhaps, they surmised, Kipo had been flustered. Putting that aside, her friends continued to follow her lead, deeper into the woods, to meet the giant Timbercats. There was much more to this pack of mammals than cat lumberjacks who used axes, wore beanies and plaid flannel shirts. The latter gave them a hipster-ish style as some could call it. You could argue that these mutes were like the Mod Frogs, Umlaut Snakes, Newton Wolves, and Scooter Skunks because they acted in a humanoid in some ways.
Yumyan Hammerpaw's purple eyes spied a group of six shapes closing in. As the Timbercat leader, he had a duty to protect the community from any threats, a duty he took seriously. He picked up his one-sided carpenterâs hatchet with a wooden handle, red painted head, and a silver blade, wielding it defensively. He thought that he could intimidate these foes with his seven-foot height, loud noises, and strength, bravely fighting them off.
...
She halted in her tracks and gazed into his eyes, as she held tightly to Glimmer. Groaning, she pleaded with Yumyan for support her in this time of need. Since she had assisted the Timbercats before, she expected he and his fellow cats would aid her and her friend this time. "My friendâŚis exhaustedâŚshe needs to be cared forâŚandâŚthe city has become dangerous since Scarlemagne got killed. Can we stay hereâŚeven for a little bit?"

...Steven and Connie stared at Cleo with sad eyes, sitting crisscross on the floor, clearly wanting a story. She rolled her eyes after noticing them there. She bobbed her head side-to-side. She decided that being completely truthful with them seemed to be the best possible approach.
..."I don't know even know where to begin my storyâŚsuddenly, a portal opened and I was transported 30,000 years in the future, to this other caveâŚwhere I met Brian and AkilaâŚI had to run from these robots who were shooting at meâŚI escaped them, but not before Brian shot me with a gun so I could have this neural translation net on my face...we traveled in this spaceship, where they told me I wasnât in a dreamâŚand had been transported through time and spaceâŚLater, I arrived at Mayet and spoke to this council of catsâŚand the rest is historyâŚuntil I got here, of course."

Catra twisted a lever, causing the machine to whir and whine to life with a rumble. Giggling with excitement, Apta's magenta eyes gazed at the contraption with amazement and wonder. Could this be, she questioned herself, the answer to quantum entanglement? Could she generate holes through space time which didn't cause time dilation, with time moving slower when you move faster or when gravity increases? She longed for a portal which wouldnât cause time and space distortions, whether around massive objects because of gravitational force or the curvature of space-time caused by distribution of the mass.
She saw Catra as the perfect subject, dragging Catra's body toward herself using multiple fronds of her prehensile hair. "Oh, Catra, I appreciate you coming. I couldn't have an experiment without a specimen."
Catra growled and tried to scratch away. Apta wagged her hair like a finger, exclaiming she was acting like a "naughty girl." She promised to not hurt Catra, withdrawing her prehensile hair. Turning her back to Apta, she began walking up the stairs. She then heard words from Apta that abruptly changed her mind, causing her to spin around and face Apta. She sat down, her legs straddling the steps, and crossed her arms, listening intently to what she had to say.

In the present, the surface Pearl tried to categorize an unusual addition to the "collection," between the cat's eye gem and catsup. She attempted to pick up the athletic, nimble woman, about 17 or 18 years old, with strong sharp features, and a general catlike appearance. This woman had large blackish feline ears and wild spiked grayish brown hair. The woman resisted, grinning with her fangs, as her multi-colored eyes, pale yellow in the left, and turquoise in the right, stared down the surface Pearl. She put the claws, on each of her hands out, ready to strike if needed and get what she wanted.
As this Pearl shuttered in fright, she let out a boisterous hoot. "This is who Adora likes now? She left meâŚand EtheriaâŚfor someone like you? Jeez. I guess she had lower standards. Now, if you don't get me out of this prisâŚplace, I'm gonna rip you a new one. I need to get out of here."

Lars accepted their terms and gave them tips for how to reach the escape pods. The OCAC, which they had used to get inside the ship, remained in the docking bay, but was too damaged for space travel. Wishing them adieu, Lars entered an elevator which took him back to the bridge. Thanks to directions from Lars, Catra, Adora, and Pearl reached the area of the ship which held the pods. Tightly squeezing inside one, Catra took the initiative and pressed a red button with the word "EJECT" written on top.
Speeding through space, Catra screamed in terror, while Adora put one arm around Catra and another around Pearl, remarking at the beauty of space, in awe of what she could see from the craft. Pearl appreciated this gesture, as did Catra, who had repressed her romantic feelings for Adora. The latter resulted in a lower self-worth as she questioned if her attractions were real or something made up in her head.

...[Entrapta] blatantly lied about this to them because she saw the relationship Catra and Adora had and knew that if Catra returned to Etheria it would emotionally wound Adora.
Walking up to Adora, Bow shook his head when he spotted Catra. He pulled an oblivious Adora aside. "Uh, Adora, are you sure about Catra? Don't you remember what she did? I mean there was a trial and everything...and she hurt you."
Adora scoffed at his questions. She explained how Catra had changed and said that Catra was "one of her girlfriends." Bow bewilderingly stared at her. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. How could it be true? She realized that Bow did not get it, so she made it even simpler for him to understand. "So, I have two partners: Catra and Pearl."
She followed this up, adding, "we have our disagreements and disputes from time to time, but are working them out day-to-day. I love Catra and Pearl equallyâŚand dearly."

"Marika, what's wrong?" she asked, seeing a worried expression on her girlfriend's face. She didn't want her to be worried. Before she could ask anything more, Marika interjected.
"It's this new ship...it's led by this domineering women, her partner who walks on her hair, and many others, like a robot, a woman with sparky hair, and a cat woman...I want to know what you think: should I let them come onto our ship?...or is it too dangerous?"
Cass did not know what to tell her. What could she say? It was tough, since she had not seen the crew members of the ship her girlfriend was referring to with her own eyes. So, she was relying upon what Marika said. She had little choice.

..."Okay, so Captain Aphra is the wild archaeologist...and she's in love with the woman who walks on her hair, Entrapta...you both crashed the ship here because you were kissing too much...and then there's the woman with the sparkly cape, Glimmer, her boyfriend Bow...and the blond-haired woman named Adora who is also named She-Ra...okay. But who is the woman with the cat-tail and cat-ears?"
Shaking her head, Adora pointed to her feline friend, first to her ears, then to her tail. It was so obvious? How didn't she get it by now? Perhaps that not everyone was as perceptive as her.
"Her name is Catra...get it? And she's what some people call a 'catgirl,' although I call her more of a 'cat woman,' a woman who is my lovely girlfriend."

...Connie decided to talk with Catra...Even someone touching a cat with a wet hand could be an extra annoyance.
So, "Catra...are you like a cat...or a girl? I don't get this whole thingâŚ"
Catra tried to explain it the best she could. No one had asked about it as pointedly before. She was willing to try and explain herself, this time. She felt she owed her an explanation.
"Well, I'm cat-like, as I come from a feline race...but I am a young woman, not a 'girl,' so I'd call myself a cat woman, rather than a cat girl."
Connie laughed. She had some familiarity with cat-like creatures from anime she had watched with Steven and series she'd watched on her own. She pulled out her phone and went to the photo gallery. She opened a folder which was aptly named "catgirls."
"I'm a bit embarrassed to say it...I have this whole collection of images of... catgirls, I mean cat women, from my favorite shows...would you like to take a look?"

...Jack grinned like a Cheshire cat. He was delighted and overjoyed with the chance to learn about these malefactors, hoping to wipe them out entirely. Of course, Jackâs position was, without a doubt, hypocritical because the GDA, an undoubtedly evil force, had one mission: dominating over others in this galaxy and any other, devastating them until nothing would be left. In his mind-controlled state, Jack put aside such inconsistencies, and praised the squadron, issuing one last command before the mission began. "Nephrite Squadron, thank you for informing me with the latest update. We need to scout ahead to ensure we are prepared in case the enemy tries any surprise attacks."
