This is such a great edit! especially with this song, it really highlights how people still tend to downplay the trauma of female characters while giving more weight to male ones, I’ve seen so many comments saying it doesn’t matter if Jill is the protagonist of RE9 because Leon would be a better fit just because she’s “badass” and doesn’t show obvious signs of trauma. like yeah she is badass, but she’s still human she has her own story, her own experiences and her own trauma.
and to those who argue that Leon fits the story of Raccoon City better seriously?? who would logically carry deeper trauma, someone who grew up and lived their entire life in that city, or someone who only arrived there for the first time?
I’m not denying that Leon went through horrific events or that he suffered deeply, he absolutely did. but claiming that his trauma is greater than Jill’s or that his story is inherently more impactful, is simply unfair.
I still don’t understand why people feel the need to diminish other characters’ stories, especially when it comes to female characters and what they’ve endured. Jill’s experiences matter just as much, and her story deserves the same level of recognition and respect.
like the letter she leaves for Robert breaks my heart everytime. That was her home guys. Leon and Claire had the world's worst day trip, Jill's entire life was destroyed in the span of like 8 weeks. Slowly at first at the mansion and then abruptly all at once.
again comparing Jill and leons trauma after raccoon is actually hilarious. basically everyone she knew DIED, not just the stars members we saw die but her neighbours, probably her out of work friends, shop workers EVERYONEEE BRO!
