let's talk about damian, bodily autonomy, and control
warning: this will be discussing events that happened and were involved in morrison's atrocious talia writing.
in a general sense, a sense of control is incredibly important to damian. talia's involvement aside, damian's childhood had no freedom, even if he didn't realize it at the time. his life was planned out for him, every aspect of his life tightly controlled by ra's and talia. ra's even tells damian at one point that he is alive because ra's allows him to be. effectively, damian is not even in control over whether he lives or dies. this adds to damian's desperation to be useful to bruce when he first arrives, because he is terrified of what might happen if he isn't.
bodily autonomy is another big thing, and it's something that hasn't been discussed much within the comics. going off of things that have happened in the comics, whether i like them or not, there are so many things that have happened to infringe upon damian's bodily autonomy and go against his sense of control.
when he almost died after first coming to gotham, his organs were harvested and replaced in order to save him and keep him from dying. he learned that one of the main reasons his grandfather allowed him to exist was because he was going to be used as ra's new body eventually. when he was shot by flamingo, not only was his spine replaced, a chip that was used to control his movements and actions was implanted. even in death, he couldn't escape, as ra's and bruce fought over his dead body. in the beast world arc, he was forced to consume one of the spores and became a cat, and in the trinity run, damian was turned into a corgi. so many things happen to threaten his sense of control, and so i see him being very protective of that.
damian has rarely felt fully in control of himself or his life, so he is incredibly protective of whatever sliver of control he does have. loss of that would cause volatile, possibly even violent, reactions, in my opinion.

some ramblings about damian and the scars that he has sustained throughout his short life.
shout out once again to juni ba's the boy wonder, which depicted damian how i truly imagine he is: his body covered in scars. this boy has been through rigorous training, torture, and conditioning since he was an infant. from his training to his battles during the year of blood, damian is no stranger to scars.
damian used to see his scars as a thing to be proud of--proof that he was stronger than others, and came out on top despite it all. these days, he's not proud of them anymore. it's a symbol of who he was, who his grandfather was shaping into becoming. a symbol of the demon that ra's wanted him to be.
there are a few specific scars that damian has.
surgical scars from when he almost died during his first outing with bruce and talia when he first arrived in gotham
scar on his back from where flamingo shot him.
surgical scars along his back from when his spine was fixed/replaced
scar on his shoulder from where jason shot him
the one that haunts him the most is the dual scar on his chest and back from where heretic ran him through. a reminder of his death.
i wanna ramble more, but my brain is not working to its full capacity. but just know that damian's body is covered in scars
