Leaf Midori

Leaf was in her own world, listening to music on her earbuds. She was rocking back and forth quietly bopping her head when Eve gently nudged her cheek. She jumped a bit, startled by the unexpected contact from her partner.

“Eve! Goodness, you scared me… what’s up?”

She took out her ear bud and reached up to ruffle eevee’s fur between her ears. That’s when she noticed the person behind her. She turned around with a smile and lifted her free hand.

“Well hi there! Sorry were you speaking to me? I was sorta in my own world there. Is everything alright?”

She asked with a soft, cheerful smile as she continued to pet her eevee.

💎 — The female in front of her, who Kris immediately recognized as one of Oak’s field researchers, smiled and apologized. Crystal didn’t blame Leaf for being in her own world considering how loud the station was.

She smiled back and shook her head. “Yeah, everything’s alright, Leaf. I was just wondering if you were in line for the vending machine.” The trainer gestured towards the machine in front of them, with no certainty if the people in front of them were also waiting in line.

She then doubles back when she realized the girl had used her name. Did she know her. The girl didn’t seem familiar... but she did meet loads of people and wasn’t the greatest at remembering them. When she introduced herself, Leaf nearly facepalmed.

“Oh but of course! I’ve heard of you. Sorry I am a total mess today. Completely lost in a desperate dimension. It seems that way anyway. Hi! As you know I’m Leaf! It’s a pleasure to meet you Crystal!”

Leaf snagged the Pokédex gratefully. “Thank Arceus! I was so nervo…” suddenly the flash of lightning off in the distance. She nodded and closely followed behind the girl, hoping she could somehow help with whatever might be wrong ahead. As they were running she called out ahead of her.

“What exactly is wrong? Not that I’m worried but… well I’d like to know what’s in store. Should I be ready for a fight or something?”

She leapt over a fallen branch as she tried to stay close to Katlyn.

“Yea I saw them! I didn’t quite make out the other though. It was small and quick. I’m willing to bet they were shinies; alternate forms of a normal Pokémon. I study shinies for my research! I can’t believe that there were 2 of them in the same location. From what I’ve seen they are pretty rare to come across!”

She looked around and gestured towards the wreckage.

“Do you... I mean... would you like a hand cleaning up? I don’t mind. After all... it is my fault you left in the first place!”

Leaf shrugged off the aggression as she panicked. She searched the clearing and sighed heavily. Then she looked back at the girl.

“Look… I don’t have time to argue. I’m sorry… I was studying a Pokémon for my research when that tricky little thief stole something from me. While we were chasing him, he threw it this way. Did you see anything? I’m in a hurry! I just got some, well sorta time sensitive information and I have to go!”

“What exactly is wrong? Not that I’m worried but... well I’d like to know what’s in store. Should I be ready for a fight or something?”

“Well, lets go going, shall we?” Katlyn proclaims as she rises from her sleep in the middle of Santalune forest. She had a feeling that traveling to a new region and staying in the nature of the region would help improve their understanding of natural music. After all, pokemon were the first to make music, so she was told.  “Well, whos ready for breakfast?” A scatter of tired and one crabby pokemon respond. She pulls out her bag the premade food they had all ready for the trip. She fired up the battery powered heater and warmed up the flat cakes. A few stray pokemon came by and watched, and just sat down and chatted with her pokemon, all nice and kind. Suddenly, there seemed to be a thud on her back. “What the…” Looking at the ground she finds what appears to be a pokedex, but of a design unknown to her. She hears a cry in the distant, of a young girl. Katlyn stands up and responds, “What? I can’t hear you!” Her lucario decides to stand up and begin sensing aura’s in the area. He then points north west. “Wait here. Luxray, watch the food.” And with that, Katlyn rushes off with the pokedex in her hand.

“Genji. If you get a chance, you hit him with a water shuriken. Don’t wait, hit him as soon as you can…”

Suddenly the Pokémon leapt up and threw the Pokédex. Leaf cried out and ran after it. Greninja didn’t hesitate on following closely after the Pansage. Leaf was so furious she didn’t even notice the other person and ended up hurtling into them.

“I swe…aaaahhhhh! What the heck! Huh? Who are you? Never mind! Have you seen…”

💎 — She stepped off the Magnet Train at the Goldenrod City train station and looked around with a smile on her face. It felt great to be back in the familiar region of Johto, yet felt so strange to be there.

Kris had spent the whole year in the neighboring region of Kanto, helping Professor Oak with his PokeDex. Though she did travel the world, she spent the majority of her time in the professor’s lab studying. All-in-all, Kanto felt more like home than her actual home region.

Making her way to a safe location in the station, she noticed the station didn’t change much. Which was weird, considering Goldenrod was always changing. The most obvious change were the tourist and people visiting the city. The researcher watched a hoard of people board the train while others got off. Crystal watched others buying items from the vending machines, and families relaxing on the benches waiting for their train to arrive. The sight of these things made her happy to be home.

Speaking of home, she couldn’t wait to head to her house in New Bark Town and relax. And to catch up with the others and their own adventures.

“First thing first,” Kris said to herself, rubbing her stomach after it growled. “Got to find something to eat.” She made her way to the closest vending machine; the one that had a line forming in front of it.

“Eve! Goodness, you scared me... what’s up?”

She took out her ear bud and reached up to ruffle eevee’s fur between her ears. That’s when she noticed the person behind her. She turned around with a smile and lifted her free hand.

“Well hi there! Sorry were you speaking to me? I was sorta in my own world there. Is everything alright?”

“Well look who decided to show her face! How’ve you been, huh? Me, I’m doing great—who can complain when you’re in the best weather all the time?”
